    New Clutch

Thanks for the reply mate :) I dont want to go crazy with the spend although its not an issue... I do like to put the foot down quite a lot on private roads Can you explain exactly what you mean "how much power your gonna put through the transmission"? I've been driving for 15 years and have only just started to take a real interest in how things actually work and i can see now how addictive it can be :) So is it best to order a IS200 clutch kit from Toyota? or will they totally fleece me ? and buy a light fly wheel from? Where did you get your Toda? and do you literally just need the wheel or do you also need special covers and bolts etc? I'm worried about a few things... 1st that i'm going to get robbed when i could have got the same parts elsewhere for much cheaper and 2nd that because of my lack of knowledge i'm not going to get all the parts i need for the job :( Cheers for the help, much appreciated btw thanks for the offer, but i think i'd prefer to buy everything new :)
  6. Ok Finally finished :) Here's my how to guide on changing to an aftermarket single din headunit - on my 99 RS200 Altezza First like is mentioned you have to determine if you have an amp or not, i didnt have an amp so heres what i needed for the installation. All parts i bought from ebay for less than £25 1. AUTOLEADS TOYOTA LEXUS IS FASCIA FACIA PANEL FP 25 00 2. LEXUS IS200 ISO HARNESS ADAPTOR 3. CAR RADIO STEREO AERIAL ADAPTER/CONNECTOR (DIN TO ISO) I assembled the new facia to begin with and clipped in the cage that came with my Alpine stereo, then began stripping the console. The top section with airvents is clipped in, so tilt the airvents back and get a good grip and pull straight back, with a bit of persuasion it should pop right out.. Then pull out the bottom section with A/C and Snow control and disconnect the connector. Now you will be able to see the 4x 10mm bolts, 2 at the top and 2 at the bottom, unscrew these and pull the section out slightly so you can unplug the connections, now the stereo and climate controls will lift out. Remove the climate controls section from the standard stereo, then add it to your new Facia and slide your new stereo into the new facia.. Connect the adaptor harness and ariel adaptor to your cars stock wiring connections and connect to your replacement head unit.... Reconnect the climate controls and bolt the centre section back on the centre console... Reconnect your A/C unit and clip back in, and finally clip back in your top air vents and you should have something like this :) Hope this helps :) Also see Wozzas guide on pimping the facia to match the console better... I'll be trying this when i have more time ;) Good luck

    New Clutch

Hi :) I need to buy a new clutch, could you good people give me your advice on whats the best to get for normal road use and the odd crazy driving day ;)? Id like to get a light weight fly wheel aswell after it was recommended. which one is the best for me? Ive seen a standard clutch kit on Fensport.... If i buy this standard clutch kit and a light weight flywheel is this all i need to get the job done? or do i need a special clutch kit for a light weight fly wheel? As you can prob tell i have no clue here, so the more info the better :) It would be great to hear from anyone living in Ireland and your advice on where to buy?, i see there's a few of you on here :) All advice welcome, Cheers :)
  8. Thanks guys much appreciated :)
  9. Hey guys Im thinking of getting some new brake discs when i have to replace pads, which is pretty soon... Can you give me your advice and opinions on which ones to buy etc? drilled or grooved or both? or just stick with standard? and if you could point me to some that you know are good then that would be great :) Cheers ;)
  10. Cheers mate, hope it helps someone :)
  11. I have got an old NKCN-D59 2-Din system in my altezza, which I imported and want to replace it with another 2-Din system of the same dimensions, how is the old one removed? Have no clue.... if you have any pics that would be great too! See pic of my current system which I want to replace. Check out WOZZA'S pinned thread on ICE , thats all you need to know . Regards I'll post some pics of my installation and give a run down of the procedure when i get my adaptors etc should be up for Friday :) At the moment ive just had the console out to have a look and it is really simple... On my 99 Tezza the top section with the air vents are just clipped in and the tray on top is screwed in from the inside so dont try and pull it off... Just tilt the air vents back and grab the top section and pull straight back and it will pop out... The same with the bottom section with traction control and snow control, it just pulled straight out.. Then you can see the bolts that need unscrewing to take out the stereo and climate controls....
  12. Ok worries over, my car is ticking over as normal now and the flat spot is much improved :) Although it did take approx 50 miles to settle down fully... Its getting better everytime i drive it since i cleaned the throttle body and reset ecu... It took a good few sprays of carb cleaner and 4 micro fibre cloths to get it clean, but the whole process took me less than half an hour... I didnt take off the throttle body, just the intake and had someone hold down the accelerator to open the flap, then gave it a good few sprays and cleaned with the cloths until the cloths weren't taking off anymore crap :) Just before i finished i rolled up one of the cloths and pushed it through the throttle body to soak uk the puddle of carb cleaner that built up I would recommend this as a possble fix to any sluggish performance you may be having... I'm no mechanic and have limited knowledge, but found this very straight forward and easy to do... Spruce up the performance :- Clean MAF with specific MAF sensor cleaner Clean throttle body with carb cleaner and micro fibre cloths reset ecu Then wait until your car gives you that smile again :) Cheers ;)
  13. Yes thats it, i think im starting to get paranoid about problems lol Thanks guys :)
  14. Im not sure if this is a new noise or has been there always, but i only just noticed it today. When the engine is off, but the ignition is turned fully on there is a constant slight buzzing noise that sounds like its coming from either the throttle body or the motor under the throttle body i think thats the alternator, but not sure... Is this normal ? Cheers
  15. Ive been having probs lately with flat spots, so cleaned a few parts.... I cleaned the MAF which sorted out the flat spot at 5000, but still have irregular power below 5000 and it seems to be at random where the flat spot happens... Anyway i cleaned the throttle body today with some carb cleaner and a cloth, i also reset the ecu.. After starting the car it took 10 mins or so for the revs to settle down after cleaning, but ive been for a 20 mile drive and the revs are still above 1000 and dont seem to be getting any lower... It does feel a little more responsive, but dont think it's cured the flat spot yet. It also seems noticeably smoother when changing down gears. How long does it usually take for the ecu to save new settings? Do i have to re-adjust the tickover now its cleaned? or will it settle down eventually? or have i broke it? Cheers guys
  16. all you needed then was a frequency band expander, to sort that out ok cheers :) will give you an update if it works next week lol
  17. Ok definitely no amp :) Ordered an iso block of ebay :) Do i need anything else to make the radio work properly? cos when i had the standard stereo installed all the FM frequencys were wrong cheers
  18. Bypass lead if you have an amp as standard. ISO connecter block if you don't. (can strip and crimp/solder if you like, but messy, complicated and time consuming £10 cheaper thou) @PCIronmike, did your gear stick wear a willy-warmer? Where exactly is the amp if its there ? I looked under the glove box and opened it and looked down the gap at both sides and cant see one..... Do i have to take out the glove box to see the amp? Thanks for the quick reply mate, much appreciated
  19. Hi mate finally got the facia and have it assembled, but looking at the connectors on the back of my Alpine stereo, they are totally different from the Altezza ones ...... Do i need a converter cable or something? or do you wire the connections manually? cheers
  20. Got mine here http://www.carsparkplugs.com/ Costs 45 euro with shipping inc for 4 Denso Iridium and took 2 days to arrive... Maybe cheaper elsewhere, but i couldn't be arsed looking around :)
  21. thanks for the advice i'll give it a shot :)
  22. Hi, No i dont have induction kit, everthing on my Tezza is standard as far as i know... I changed the panel filter to a blitz filter, but this didnt make any difference... Just in the last few days ive started to notice a good improvement in the flat spot and seems to be getting a little better day by day... I changed the plugs as i mentioned and also started using the new Maxol E5 petrol which says its 99 octane, this is my second full tank in 2 weeks so now should be pretty much all Maxol without other petrol mixed... Ive also been driving it quite hard hoping it would blow out the problems if there was a blockage or something... Could the petrol be making the difference? could it be the ecu adjusting to the higher octane ? It also seems smoother through the revs and if im not dreaming a little more powerful with this petrol, ill see how it is over the next week or so and give you guys an update...
  23. Ok changed the plugs to Denso Iridium IK20 and it seems to have improved it a little, but it's still a noticeable flat spot :( Im going to take it into the garage next week and get them to run diagnostics and see if they can find the prob, i'll report back . btw, Whitelabelboy have you had any joy in fixing your flat spot yet ? Cheers
  24. Thanks for the info guys much appreciated :)
  25. Hi, Hope you dont mind be joining in, but didn't seem any point to start a new thread... I have like a constant whistling on my clutch and when i touch the clutch pedal a little it stops, ive been told that its the realease bearing on its way out and although it's not causing any functional problems it's annoying... Could you guys tell me how much i should expect to pay for a new clutch and if its worth getting an uprated one other than standard? the benefits etc? If you could point me to a clutch kit that will do the job that will be much appreciated :) Cheers guys
