  1. I tend to agree with you but what concerns me is the increase in fuel consumption which on reflection seems to have happened after my last service. It's gone from about 42mpg to 35mpg. It's due a 60k service in the next couple of weeks so I'll see what the dealer has to say about it.
  2. Aye, OK. I've had mine for just over 2 years, done 56k & had absolutely nothing go wrong. My dealer - Lexus Glasgow has been faultless, the services & recalls done without incident. I love the car, it does everything I need it to including transporting myself, 2 kids & a drumkit at the weekend - although a load carrier it ain't! When clean it still looks great. Happy with it.....
  3. Ok - fuel duty & VAT - duty is up to cancel out the effect of the VAT reduction so we are paying the same at the pumps. As a small business owner (VAT registered) this would appear to be a straight increase in costs for me as the fuel price net of VAT is up! Thank You Darling indeed!
  4. My mpg has been getting worse. Initially I was getting about 42mpg consistently, my wife even managed 50 on a run to Newcastle & back. Now my indicated average is about 36 & tank average about 33. I've done 55k miles in 2 years, had the 5th injector replaced & the ecu remapped once. Could my worsening mpg be because the egr valve etc has not been done? Am I likely to have any joy with the dealer on this?
  5. I've had a couple of occasions where it's taken a few seconds of turning over for the engine to fire up but mainly cold mornings - it hasn't happened frequently enough to cause me any great worry. I just push in the clutch & push the button. If it's very cold then there's a few seconds delay after pushing start before the starter turns the engine; I assume that's when the glow plugs are heating up.
  6. My first post! This is an interesting wee debate. I've had a 220d SE for 2 years now but at the last (50k) service I got a 250SE Auto courtesy car. On my day with it I did my normal home work commute, a mix of country roads, motorway, city driving. I managed mid 30's mpg, the diesel is giving an indicated 36.5 mpg average. My last diesel tankful gave me only 33mpg. Given that I was playing about with the paddle shift, enjoying the kickdown & generally keeping the power mode on I was pretty impressed with the petrol model. I don't know what the difference in contract hire rentals is between the diesel & the petrol but taking the fuel cost only & the fact that the auto is so smooth I'd be sorely tempted by the 250 next time.
