  1. Can we see some pictures of where the filter is on the engine and how you get to it/swap it? There seems to be two K&N filters advertised, a rectangular one and another shaped like a dog leg? Or have I got that completely wrong? Joe
  2. Hi all, Just wondering what the torque setting is for the wheel bolts on the lexus is 200. I have these 18 inch Lexus, 6 spoke sport alloys. I read in the book the setting is 76 ib ft. Is that right? Many thanks Joe
  3. Blimey! Thats not good! Mind you! When I picked up my car from the garage, they changed the brake pads. I went around all of the nuts to tighten them to the correct torque. 76 lb ft, I believe. The nuts on the front wheels were so god damn tight I was standing on the wrench just to loosen them! Unbelievable! Mind you only problem now is that my front brakes clunk all the time!
  4. I guess the other questions is whether its worth paying the extra for say Shell V Power or Tesco Super Unleaded which is had a higher RON rating. Also its mean to contain more additives to clean the engine. I felt the difference on my Astra, but its a real hot topic. As my car is new Ive filled it up with the good stuff! I may alternate tank loads to spread the cost!
  5. Funnily enough I find myself in the same boat as I have just picked up my Lexus on Saturday. Its got some swirl marks from previous washing which needs to go! First up I would wash the car using a quality shampoo. Einszett Perls Shampoo is the best Ive come across. Beads like mad and leaves glossy wax over the car. Use a Meguiars wash mitt and not a sponge and dont use washing up liquid. As for the wheels, I would use a car shampoo such as AG shampoo, and AG Machine cleaner in the arches, which really brings them up to a factory finish Purchase a clay bar and some lubricant. (Meguiars) Spray each panel and rub the clay bar over the bodywork. Sounds mad but it removes tree sap and dirt that isnt easily visible and leaves the surface feeling like glass. Now your ready for polishing. Ideally if you have a porter-cable polisher you can apply the polish via machine and really break it down, better than hand. Polishes such as AG Super Resin Polish, Klasse AIO, Menzerna Final Finish, Megs #80 Megs #83 are ideal depending on how bad the swirling is. The link below will show the machine and pads. This really takes your polishing to the next level. And its safe on paint. I.e. unless your being really stupid, you cant burn through the paint work. http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/polishing/po...t/prod_415.html After this I would finish off with some Collinite 476 doublecoat. The best durable wax I have used and great for Winter. It also leaves a great finish, darkening the paint slightly. Cant think of much more, but hope that helps! Happy cleaning Joe
  6. Hi all I ve just entered the heady heights of Lexus Ownership, having purchased a low mileage IS200SE Auto. A couple of questions, if anyone can help me? Dealers: Are there any reputable dealers outside of the Official Lexus Garages that specialise in these cars? Also what is the average cost of a service at a Lexus Garage? Possible knocking: I picked up my car, with new front pads fitted. I ve noticed when I release the pedal the brakes clunk (on the front) and the front passenger side clunks when going over a speed hump. I struggle to think its a ball joint as although the car is 2003 its only covered 10,000 miles. Could this just be the brakes bedding in? Rust: My car isnt rusting, but are these cars prone to rust, in sat the arches, door bottoms? many thanks guys! Joe
