  1. I guess it is more evident when the window is open. I understand the passenger issue. Mine does the same especially when the right foot is severley used lol.. (note to self...don't take the wife on early morning sundays blasts lol)
  2. Yes, I am sure that a weekly spucing of the wheels will keep them in tip top condition and once I get my new wheels I'll be doing something similar to avoid the build up becoming a problem. More concerningly is the fact that the other ISF owner told me of the damage to the paintwork. I was smug knowning that i didn't have the issue until I looked closer and saw the pitting was evident from the sills up to half way up the doors and back as far as the rear doors. Sure, a clay bar got it all off but how will this kind of attack leave the paintwork ongoing. Lexus told us that they do not make ceramic brakes for the ISF - of course what they actually should have said is that Brembo have not been asked to make ceramics - the brakes of course are made by brembo who are quite famous for ceramic brakes. At 4K apparent cost for new sets of wheels it would make financial sense for them to consider it. As for me fitting aftermarket ceramics, Lexus told me this would invalidate my warranty!. Thanks for your suggestions - still like to hear from other ISF owners to see if this is more widespread.... (oh and does anyone else have squeaky bed spring syndrome coming from the rear suspension where accelerating...i get squeaks as I accelerate and lift off...Lexus told me this was "normal" and not an issue - but the noise is embarassing on a flag ship motor costing £50K+
  3. I could be tempted to bring along the ISF to the event as I live in Southampton...any others??
  4. OK guys, as i started this post I best make the suggestion. Firstly, yes I know S'ton is next to the sea but there is not too many places suitable witha seaview so I am opting for ease of travel instead. Just of the M3 jct 11 you can head towards Bishops Waltham and Tyford. After about 5 miles there is a large pub called Fisher's Pond, with large carpark, surounded by straight and quiet country lanes (can't think why we might enjoy those). Location link is here so any takers? Shall we go for: Saturday August 1st? 1pm The Fishers Pond Main Rd Fishers Pond, Eastleigh, SO50 023 8069 2209 http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&sour...=15&iwloc=A
  5. So i have had my ISF for 12 months now and still get a tingle in my tummy when i haven't driven it for a day or two (like when we go for a weekend away in the wife's company car) and i think about driving it at 6am on a sunny morning around the coutry lanes on the way to work (even though i don't start until 9am - it's worth getting up early to have blast. Anyway, recently i noticed that brake dust had made my wheels rust. I complained to my Lexus dealer who took told me to wash the car after ever trip. They cleaned the wheels as best they could and made quite a good job but within 30 miles they were covered again. After washing and washing i got fed up and complained again. On the side i found out that the only other ISF in the county had the same issues and after protracted complaints evertually got new wheels from Lexus (at an apparent cost of £4k to them) so i continued my ranting and eventually was told i would also get new wheels - haven't got them yet but they are ready for me at the dealership. When he got his wheels he was told his old ones would be reconditioned and i suspect that i will get his old ones - but i guess so long as they look brand spanking i have no issues. So my point here is if you are lucky enough to own an ISF and have break dust ruining your wheels - and the bodywork too as the hot metal shards do damage the paintword along the trims under the doors - don't be fobbed off. if enough of us start claiming new wheels maybe lexus will see sense and fit ceramic disks and pads to stop this most annoying issue. Has anyone else had this issue? - would love to hear your thoughts
  6. As yet no news. Was hopign the forum moderators would pitch in and help us get this off the ground. Think we need a minimum of a dozen of us. If we can join up with the london to southampton rally we can always go up to london(ish) and join the procession back to south coast and have adouble header type meet. Forum Moderators - can you help us with this please...especially as the weather is so good at the moment it would be a shame not to all meet up.
  7. Great, so now we need a four pack of coke lol. Not sure how to get this thing running as 3 + me is not enough really so can the site admins help us arrange something please? I know it is not an official meet but maybe we can make it one and get some publicity so we can all get together to drool over our Lexus machinery ????
  8. Come on guys - the sunshine is here (nearly) so lets get together at a nice pub (for a coke obviously) on the side of a river / sea view and do the Lexus thing. Me plus 2 is hardly good enough to arrange something... (don't forget i'll bring the ISF and you can all go for a spin e.t.c.....!!!) (thanks to Jason and Seolio for putting their names down)
  9. Thanks to everyone who has posted ideas and hints here - appreciated. As for my location I am in Southampton so if PJs knows an good "bring the car back to glory" place would be really happy to hear more. Thanks again guys
  10. Yes, it was the US sites that gave me the idea of lights in the grill - well actually i had already thought of it but then found US owners had already done it...i'm thinking red rear facing lights in the wheel arch grils which on the cad blue will leave streaks of purple/burgundy shining back about 3-4 inches (and red lights to stay legal). Anyway - looking for a cusom car shop to help me with this as certainly not going anywhere the ISF with MY screwdrivers...it'd be a right bodge job if I do it and don't want to make it look stupid (well...you know what I mean) Calling all southcoast workshops who fancy playing with an ISF speak up now please
  11. Thanks for that. When I wash it i always took it to a car valet place but after seeing 5th gear's feature on Valet place Vs Jet Wash Vs Car Wash I don't do that anymore. They basically said that the WORST is the car valet place for getting scratches, then the jet wash and finally the auto car washer is best as it very rarely picks up grit - which was very surprising to me but you can't argue with science. If I lived in Dover i'd go to that petrol station (BP i think) right next to the Chunnel entrance that has a brushless wash - just sprays water and foam (and prob some chemicals) and magically the car is clean. So now, I jet wash the car at home and then wash with the softest, cleanest rags and sponges i can find and am mega careful re grit. I think the damage is already done so guess have to call in an expert to make it good again. Shame about supaguard - would not recommend it to anyone - especially as it costs £400 !!!
  12. When I coffed up £50k for my ISF I was convinced by the dealer to have the superguard applied to protect the paint from surface scratching and to keep a showroom finish. I agreed and it was added to the car. After 6 months I can see swirl marks on the paint and the finish is not showroom after a wash as promised. So, I need to have some treatment to remove all the fine scratches that are visible in good daylight. Any thoughts, suggestions, experiences to share?
  13. I am ready for the barrage of negative posts about to come my way! I would like to make some small tasteful (if thats possible) mods to the ISF. Am thinking of lights in the side panel grills (they're fake after all) and maybe a splitter with white LEDs embedded on the front. So my question is does anyone know anywhere that would do this for me - needs to be close to Southampton which is where i live.
  14. Well i would give some negative to owning an ISF but not sure I can think of any. I agree with brick re the motorway - absolutely nobody drives up my ***** (to coin a phrase) - partly because if they tried, they wouldn't last long and secondly maybe they know it's not worth it so sit back and enjoy the view. I've had many times where a dual caridgeway is crawling and then just gets going in time to blash the throttle as i go past some boy racer in a suped up nova with a dustbin exhaust and windows open...very satisfing to make the proper V8 noise on demand in manual sports mode. There is a downside - the brake dust - it accumulates so fast - i took my ISF in for a valet as i do most months and they noticed the wheels had gone rusty. I complained to Lexus and they said it was in fact brake dust and then spent 4 hours just cleaning the wheels for me (FOC - so thankyou Lexus Southampton) - they also said that the other ISF they maintain had exactly the same problem and so a technical report has been sent to Lexus UK - the advice i was given - throw a bucket of water over the wheels after every trip - like i am going to do that...so hopefully a small design tweak might be made for future cars. Only other downside is the 11.5mpg average i do - could manage 20+ but you can't have a car like the ISF and not drive it "properly!!". One thing I would have liked to see is the fitting of the blue lighting up scuf plates as found in top IS250/220 models - i had them retro fitted to my IS200d and added a nice touch when opening the doors at night. Now my last point (and i am ready for the barrage of negative posts about to come my way) is that I would like to make some small tasteful (if thats possible) mods to the ISF. Am thinking of lights in the side panel grills (they're fake after all) and maybe a splitter with white LEDs embedded on the front. So my question is does anyone know anywhere that would do this for me - needs to be close to Southampton which is where i live.
  15. A few months ago there was talk of a gathering on the south coast. Southampton seems favorite. Any interest in meeting one week-end? (i can bring the ISF as well)
  16. Fair point well made. So it'd be good to see 20 ISFs parked up / driving along together...think of the noise as we all gently "marrrrr marrrr" down the road lol. So when we going cruising???
  17. Hello all, Sorry been a few weeks since my last post in this thread so questions asked of me are quite a few posts before this. Anyway, the suspention. - Yes it can be a bit hard if you drive on bumpy town roads - but I really couldn't care less. It is not as if it is too much - it's just more bumpy than some other luxury cars - but it is a sport suspension. As for the number plate ( LEX 15F ) i managed to pick it up from just over £1000 all in so happy with that ...and it look excellent on the ISF as you can imagine (and only a tiny weeney bit of spacing to make it more LEX ISF on the back so plod don't get upset. Just need to sell my "L3XS F" (or L3X :SF is the screws are in the right place) plate now Now, clarkeson - you get on my tits! - it's all been said before but get a grip man - the gears can be used in 3 modes and they do exactly what you want in manual flappies and trip tronic. in full auto they change like any other auto does. He seemed to forget the radar controlled crash avoidance, radar cruise control, colour rear parking camera e.t.c which when you add all the toys up, make an M3 look like woolies toy section (nearly empty and full of 1990's technology. Clarkeson - start doind reviews again and tell people about the car - not just how fast they go (fifth gear will help you learn how) The ISF is fast enough thank you. Would I have an M3 if the ISF didn't exist - NO - never...too many on the road, not exclusive enough. I'd rather have some Aston (even though they are slower than the ISF round TG track (another point missed by mister i love aston clarkeson).
  18. Soton +/- 20 Miles somewhere where there's a beer (just the one of course) is good for me. I'm new to the area so not sure where Hayling is. I guess choose a date first and then see who can meet and where.
  19. So where and when for the next south coast meet? any ideas?
  20. when I got the ISF i was told it had every option possible and nothing on a standard IS220/250 is missing...you can only specify a sunroof or no sunroof so have the sunroof(...err sorry, lexus call it a moon-roof) so you get the exhaust note better. In fact the salesman's claim is not true because the door scuff plates are there but do not illuminate blue neon like they didi on my 220d, the inner orange and red lights around the speedo and rev counter are missing, the rear window electric sun blinds are missing. Still, it does have that engine :o)))))))))))))) marrr, marrrrr...get out of my way ...marrrrr, marrrrrr - brilliant !!
  21. I agree but then the steering wheel is on the wrong side...UK colours are a bit limited as are the interior options...I (and it's just a personal choice) liked the white and black options you get in the states but here it is only pure black...oh well
  22. did you guys ever meet up?...I am in and around southampton and can bring along the ISF if you are meeting close-ish sometime
  23. Hi All, If you can remember to email me / message me I'll bring along my ISF as there seems not to be one listed in the turn out which is a shame....Looks like a good event.... ps...anyone know any car mod'ing companies to have a little play with the ISF for me...just a small few tasteful changes...preferably in the southampton / portsmouth area???
  24. I guess it depends on a lot of factors. Assuming average milage of around 10K per year max, car being in v good condition with FMSH then my guess would be around £30-35k due to it being so exclusive. only 150 in the country per year. You can buy one today with 6000 miles for £45k. other factor to consider would be the ISF owners getting rid to buy the LFA which would be launched in around 18-24 months from now at around £75k when the LFA comes out I'll probably buy one so my ISF will be available and I recon £30K would be a fair price. If the LFA doesn't come out I will definately be keep it... ;o) :winky:
  25. with ref to the "cheating" of 5th gear what I meant was that the ISF had the M3 beaten in their silly girls in the back test so Plato kept on going mad in the beema until the scores let the M3 win. In truth I would probably agree that the M3 is slightly quicker round a track than my beloved ISF which now sports a new registration plate "LEX 15F" (drool) making my previous reg of L3XSF (was spaced as L3XS F) needing to be sold. Having said that I think the Lexus wins hands down for equipment, comfort and most definately with regards to engine note/noise...pure addictive fun. I am glad it is JC doing the review and I just pray he loves it as much as me.
