Hello all, Firstly, long time no see. Third service is coming up at the end of October. Was wondering if any of you guys have an idea of how much I might be looking at paying? Oh, and not that I'm looking to rub anyones noses in it, but I'm currently achieving around 46MPG.....driving carefully! (Just thought I'd throw fuel on the fire)! Anyways, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Matt

Is250 Beats Rx400h
Bumflake replied to starkey444's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
I've had the RX400h as a courtsey car for a 10 days now....at first I loved it, but now I have the same feelings about it as you....I even took it off road! got a good bit of air time too! (It's pants off road vs Range Rover Sport) The problem is that apart from ragging it off road, it just isn't fun to drive. Plus every time a Range Rover goes past you just know they are looking down their nose at you!!! Having said that, I do drive around in it like I own the community...and get some funny looks as I'm a young looking 25 year old guy. Just wish I could make the back end kick out once! -
They're my dads cars so can't really take credit The CLS is really good though, there were a few bizarre failures early one that were sorted under warranty but after that it's been perfect. It's comfortable and quiet, but is pretty sharp to drive (although the steering is a bit light for my liking) It's weird the car is still relatively rare given how great it is to look at, it still turns heads and we've had it 4 years........... I'm gonna get one. You're right, they are great looking. Especially if you can get one with an AMG body kit! The only thing I'm worried about is the fact that I'm only 25, so the car may not suit me!

Just checked that out. I used the comma stuff and it worked a treat until last week, then the smell started to come back. Its going to Lexus at the end of the month. They were going to have a look to see if there was any damp getting in the car, but I might give them a ring and see if this could be the cause. Cheers brucie.

Geometry Check
Bumflake replied to Bumflake's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
It was T.Wells. They have good rep, from what I've been told on here before. I'm going to have a go at making Lex do the geometry for free, since as I think them doing the steering recall has mucked it all up! How far away is Chesham? As a side note, I asked the after sales service manager if they ever looked at this site. He said no, so I've suggested he does! They are also replacing some fork something or others as I complained about the clunky gearbox, has anybody had this done? Matt -
Geometry Check
Bumflake replied to Bumflake's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
No, they want it for three days, so I need a car for about four days. That narrows the time frame for the booking considerably. I was waiting three weeks just to get it in and have a courtesy car for a day. Does anybody know a decent place in Kent I can take it to get the geometry done? -
Hello all, I took my Lex IS220 in yesterday for a number of reasons. Two of which were the steering wheel not being straight, and handling being twitchy at speed. Lexus had the car for a full day, which meant I had to have the day off work as I work shifts and Lexus wouldn't let me have a courtesy car for more than one day. To cut a long story short, I went to pick the car up yesterday evening and they hadn't done anything with it! Just "some investigatory work". So now I have to take it back on May 30th - they want it for three days!!! So........how much do you guys think I should pay for a geometry check? Lexus want £120 and say it isn't covered by the warranty! P.S. Cat = Hotty

Engine De Coke
Bumflake replied to tedm's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
How much would the de coke cost if it wasn't being done under warranty? I have to admit that I'm getting worried about my own IS220. The warranty runs out in Sept! I'm taking mine in on Tuesday, so I'll have more to say about the customer service after that. If I were you I would raise hell until you get what you want from them - usually works with my girlfriend!!! :P -
If you find the car sort that out first then worry about the add-ons. Paint protection is a waste of time, alloy wheels will corrode in the guarantee perion anyway so also a waste of time. Tyre insurance, how many times have you damaged a tyre? Also IMHO a waste of time as they will need replacing at approx 20k and 30k miles. Gap insurance in this financial climate may be good idea, although I have no experience of it, if you think you buy a car now for £30k and it will be worth£16k to £18k in 18 moths with average mileage. Personally I would stay well clear of all the add-ons. You can normally get them cheaper else where - and if you add up the cost the extra cover, bearing in mind the fact that you may never use it, it's probably cheaper just to deal with any problems as they arise!

Timing Belt On Is220d

Hey tango. Are those pictures taken in your living room? -
use the DIY kits and u risk killing your air con system, or making it worse - stay away! I agree. I definitely don't have the knowledge required to even think about attempting something like that. For £50 you might as well take it to a generic air con servicer. The comma stuff seems to have worked very well. I think I'll just get a new filter and I've saved myself about £90! Matt Does the car smell unpleasantly 'lemon fresh', or has that worn off already? Smells fine now mate (perhaps a little bit lemoney). Hold off until tomorrow afternoon and I'll let you know you now what it's like then. It would have been 3 days since I did the treatment. Edit: Just got home and it smelt fine. Highly recommend comma.

I can definitely relate to that. I had a Citroen C4 VTR+ before I got the Lex, and to honest, it was brilliant. I had it for three years and it didn't go wrong once, and any dealings I had with customer service were a good experience. I do, however, think that the customer service you receive boils down to what particular dealership you go to. From what I've heard, some are much better than others. I phoned T.Wells dealership in the week to book the car in for some warranty work, and I've never spoken to such a happy person on the other end of the phone. My experiences have so far been good. 220d Oil
Bumflake replied to Bumflake's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Thanks for the reply, It's above the max by quite a margin. That's why I'm worried about it. To top it off it was probably Lexus who out the oil in! <_< -
220d Oil
Bumflake replied to Bumflake's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Yeah, Shouldn't be hard to drain some myself. Was wondering if too much would cause any damage to the engine? -
220d Oil
Bumflake posted a topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Hi guys, As I've previously mentioned, I bought a second hand 220d in Feb. I had a look at the oil level today and it seems high. The oil colour is also as black as black can be! The oil was changed late Oct 2008 as per the service and I doubt the previous owner would have needed to touch the oil between then and when I bought it. Should I be worried about this? It's my first diesel, so I'm unsure about the colour of oil etc. Advice and experiences would be appreciated. Matt
