  1. Hello all, I've got a few niggling problems with my 220d and want to get your opinions on them, and whether the dealer will think I'm taking the p**s if I give them a list of things to fix!? the problems are as follows: - Squeaky gator - Rear windscreen seems to steam up all the time - Very clunky gearbox (I know the gearboxes have problems, but I can here it clunk when I'm changing gears) - Loud cracking noise coming from the dash - Steering wheel doesn't seem to be straight (it had the steering rack recall before i bought it in Feb) - When doing motorway speeds the steering seems to be twitchy (could be related to the steering wheel position) Any advice or experiences would be most welcome. I look forward to your responses. Matt
  2. Hi moonpig, I see you're from Kent. What dealer did you take it to? I have some rattles etc. for them to sort and I don't know whether to take it to Tonbridge Wells or Canterbury! Cheers, Matt
  3. errrm. Just bought a 56 plate 220d 20,000 miles for £10500 so I think I'll pass. Thanks for the offer though! ;) I see your point though.
  4. Since as you only have six months left on the contract it's probably best to carry on paying until the end, then sell the car. Surely the car is worth more than six months worth of payments........unless the payments are sky high - or the car isn't worth anything!? Is it your 250? I'll give you six months worth of payments for it! This post is not a binding contract (just in case the car is a dog)! ;)
  5. Hi mate and welcome, I've been looking too. there were some on ebay a few weeks ago that had a very slight scuff. They went for £460 with tyres. As for the name.....no clue! Matt
  6. So were you standing at the counter waiting for them to ask you to pay, or did you just make a bolt for the door? :o
  7. I was told not. Also when I later called RAC they would not suspend it until my other cover had expired.....had only renewed other cover 2 months prior. That's my problem. Only renewed my AA last month! At least I'd be able to have both the AA and RAC working on the car if it did brake down.
  8. Wonder if you could not have the RAC bit on the Lexus warranty and get it cheaper???
  9. Hardly, all of the Tesco warranty plans exclude what they call 'prestige' cars. Lexus is on their excluded list Just checked with Tesco, Lexus IS200, 7 years old £339 (standard Cover). Mazda 6MPS (AWD + Turbo), 3 years old £419 (finest cover) From what I've read the Tesco Finest cover seems to be as comprehensive as any other. What does the lexus one offer that makes it worth paying £200 more for?
  10. Do you think Lexus will price match against something like the Tesco Finest Warranty Plan?
  11. I agree. I bought an IS for two reasons: 1) Because it looks stunning 2) Because it's a Lexus and should be reliable Only had my IS for a week so don't know if I've bought a dog or not. Hopefully everything will be fine. I also think £600 odd quid is a lot of money for a year. I got 3 years extended warranty for £300 on my old Citroen C4 . I know the car doesn't compare but surely you can get something cheaper and comparable to the Lexus one.
  12. Why not just ask lexus to install one? Two options I suppose. Either DIY and have it not work, or get Lexus to install and have it cost you a small fortune!
  13. Wow. I can see trouble on the horizon between me and the misses if bought those bad boys!!!
  14. Do you think a big set of rims will ruin the ride? Those rims look good BTW.
  15. Good question. I didn't consider that. I hope that just wanting to change the rims doesn't turn into an expensive affair!
  16. Think most of the wheels on ebay are a bit boi racer esque if you see what I mean - but that's a question of taste! Is there anything I should consider when buying new rims? things like width etc???
  17. Probably would give calling them a miss. I can imagine........."well sir they'll set you back £2000." Maybe I'll give them a bell once I've picked the car up tomorrow afternoon. It's so exciting. Just hope it doesn't develop the same problems others have experienced. Thanks for your help pal.
  18. I'm worried about getting them from the breakers because I'm the least mechanically savvy person I know and would probably ending up buying a duff set. Any idea how much they are likely to set me back? The Lex I'm getting is Cadoxton Slate. I think a dark coloured set of wheels would look mighty sweet indeed!!
  19. Have you had the steering rack and brake callipers replaced as per recalls?
  20. Hello all, I'm buying a IS220 (second hand) and would like to get some IS220 Sport Alloys for it. Does anybody have any ideas where I can get them from? If so how much they are likely to cost? I can't seem to find anything posted previously that'll give me the information. Cheers
  21. The book is stamped. Has FSH. Just hasn't been into the dealership for any work other than that previously stated. It's not from a Lexus dealership though. Still has a warranty until september I think. Going to give it a second test drive tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully it'll go OK.
  22. I'm in the process of buying a second hand IS220d 56 plate with 20K on the clock for £10500. Seems like a good deal to me. Had a test drive the other day, noted the plate number and phoned Lexus to find out what history it has with them - almost none at all (apart from 2 recalls and 2 services) 2 more recalls required (steering rack and brake callipers) so i asked the garage to sort those and I'll have another test drive! Does this seem like a good deal to others?
