  1. What life can i expect from the IK20 plugs? will castrol GTX be fine? i personally wouldnt use gtx, my car only gets motul
  2. Must have been you I saw with the Boxter in the geometry bay on Tuesday around lunchtime then :) . My 250 was in the other bay having new rear boots fitted. Yeah it was...... blimey it's a small world isn't it :) ...... In answer to the suspension question "pre-stressed" coils don't sag after the initial fitment. i assumed that, that is what it means. i was wondering how they pre- stress them?
  3. were the goodridge hoses easy to fit? do the ends twist or are they fixed? i had some specially fabricated for my mini as i heard the goodridge ones were a pig to fit? did notice a big difference when they were fitted, i think im right in saying that the standard hoses sort of bulge when on the brakes hard?
  4. cheers 4 that will go with the grooved ive found & with ebc pad's out of the red green yellow pads , what will give out less dust ????? i found that the redstuff were less dusty because of the harder compound, i wouldn't go with them on the back though because unless you drive it like you stole it they will never get warm enough to be effective, i also wouldn't go with anything harder than redstuff on the front unless it is a track car because you will have the same problem as putting redstuff in the rear. i would also keep an eye on the drilled discs for a while because they can sometimes crack between the holes, this doesn't happen that often though and is more of a problem on certain cars. if you haven't ordered the discs yet try www.camskill.com they won't list the discs for the IS but they will be able to order them for you, they can also get black coated discs that look guite good. the black comes off the part of the discs that the pad touches but will stay on the rest of the discs, in the drill holes for example, this stops them rusting and looking manky!
  5. i had some gmax lowering springs on one of my cars and they were rubbish, they ended up sagging a lot and the wheels scraped on the arches when i went over speed bumps this was only a 25mm drop, the wheels were only 1" bigger than standard with the right offset too. stear clear of cheap crap, wait untill you can afford something decent.
  6. im planning on putting EBC redstuff on the front and greenstuff on the back, also with drilled discs. have used this set up on other cars and was happy with it
  7. Their machine picked up my wife's Boxter NSF shock absorber was out of alignment that was throwing the geo out of the rest of the car, which resulted in the reay tyres being eaten and at £250 each it isn't funny......... very impressive to see the machine in operation. There were a few MX5's being fitted with coilovers when I was there, they were using pre-stressed ones so they could lower the cars and do the geo all in one visit, one couple travelled from Liverpool so WIM could do the work. Speaks for itself really. how do they pre stress them? i was forever adjusting the coilovers for the first few weeks on my mini! right pain in the arse!
  8. im not overly impressed with the handling of the standard car so coilovers, arb's and WIM should stop it being so bloody twitchy!
  9. thanks for that, im setting the wheels in motion on the moddifying front with new wheels this month and coilovers and new discs, pads and braided hoses next month so think i may have a trip down there to get geo done month after. thats the plan anyway!
  10. ok, so i have ANOTHER problem with my IS. all of my tyres are worn on the inside but hardly any wear on the outer edge. i don't THINK the car has been lowered but there were after market 17s on it when i bought it so maybe it has been. could this be the source of the problem?
  11. i only live 3 miles from work and it does it all the way, but any further than that and its fine, i can live with it but it is a bit annoying! also i have a series of crescent shaped marks on my rear offside disc, it is rubbing a bit but don't know if caliper is binding or a warped disc?
  12. my car sort of shudders when in setting off in 1st gear when the car is cold, anyone got any idea what the problem is and how i can fix it? also when the car is cold the power steering squeels a lot, is that normal? and advice appreciated! thanks
  13. i love these, i looked at a 530d on a 53 just before i bought the lex but with the mileage i do its pointless getting something really nice
  14. won't be having them then. thanks for the heads up!
  15. i was looking at some d2 coilovers on ebay today, anybody had any experience of these?
  16. when i had my mini i had avon zv3 s and falken fk452 s on all 4 wheels (at different times abviously) and found that the avons' were brilliant tyres but did use about 20% more fuel! this was in as close to a control environment as you could reasonably get on the road as tyres were changed at almost the same time 2 years in a row, coupled with servicing. i drove the same route to work at the same times every day and in all weather conditions!
  17. Hi all. Im new both on the site and to owning a lexus. what im wanting to know is: what are the largest alloys including width, offset etc. i can fit to an is200 without needing arch work and what sort of drop will i be able to get safely and on what springs, coilovers etc. also what brand of exhaust and induction kit should i be looking at to get the highest bhp increase? i know these are all questionnes that have probably been answered multiple times but any help would be apreciated.
