  1. Is it possible to swap front seats, not on lex but generally.

So I mean by putting the seat belt holder on other side etc or are the seats unique to each side, anyone know ?

Most seats are generally sided, especially electric seats but it depends what you want to do with them?

  2. anyone got a spring for the petrol flap on an is200?

have to force it open at the petrol station

oh, and anyone got a drivers side fog light?

Spring is £2.27 + VAT. :winky:

    is that from you?

That is the retail price for an 01-03 model, PM me your chassis number for an accurate quote :winky:

  3. Hi Guys

its time to give the old guy a little tlc so if anyone has spare any of the following then please pm me as I could do with then reasonably soon please.

    Car is a 1999 is 200 manual

1 front OS brake calliper in good nick or 2 new ones (as I believe no one does seal kits for them any more?)

1 front OS ball joint NEW as mine is growling like a bitch!

and if anyone has an old damaged rear diff which they believe will be weld able (IE teeth stripped from gears but would locate correctly to weld up) then please let me know how much you want for it too. Bearings and seals need to still be in good nick please though.

Seal kits are still available for the 99 IS200 and are £66.36 + VAT retail for a kit to do both sides, part number is 04478-30240. :winky:

OS ball joint is £47.20+ VAT retail and part number is 43330-59135.

    Hope this helps.

  4. Nope incorrect info there.

There is enough evidence on this forum to suggest that the timing belt on the IS200 can fail before 100k/6 years.

If you contact Lexus GB directly they will advise you that the timing belt on the IS200 needs to be changed at 60k or 6 years, whichever comes first. When the IS200 was released back in 1999, Lexus advised that the timing belt was good for 100k or 10 years. This was then revised to 100k or 6 years, but there have been some cases of IS200's timing belts breaking before hitting 100k. The latest revision is now that the timing belt needs changing at 60k or 6 years (whichever comes first).

The IS300 timing belt is good for 100k/10 years as far as I know.

Just received an email from Lexus technical and they have sent a copy of the current service checklist for the IS200 and it states......"replace timing belt - every 6 years or 100,000 miles (whichever is sooner)"

This is also applicable to the 01 on IS300.

I can email a copy to anyone who wants to see this.

    Hi mate,

can you forward this to me?

  6. Hi, i replied to an E-bay seller ( Lexus Birmingham ) that the timing belt change was infact 60,000 miles not 100,00 as they described, this is the reply they sent.

    Dear tommy20165,

Hi, don't know where you have got your information from, but it is incorrect, service interval change as stated on our Lexus service spec sheets is every 100,000 miles or 6 years which ever comes sooner. Vehicles prior to 2000, which are on service schedule of 9000 mile/12 months services are due to be changed every 63,000 miles, but vehicles after are 100,000. I can email you a copy of the spec sheet if you wish.

As a Lexus dealer we would not give out incorrect information.

But thanks for your comments, Regards Jo Mitchell

    What do you think ?

Your Lexus dealer is in fact correct, the timing belt on the IS200 is at 100000 miles or 6 years old, whichever comes first. As most IS200's reach 6 yrs old they are usually around the 60000 service time hence the confusion.

    Hope this helps.

  7. Hi all,

I have been offered a used 3 button key fob for the is200 and wanted to establish what i would need to do to get this working with my car?

I have a 3 button master key fob only and want a spare key (altho previous owner did give me a blank 3 button key fob)

    Thanks in advance

If your car is a 99-05 IS200 you would be better off getting the blank key cut and programmed to your car, as a used key will already be cut to another car and a 3 button remote on the is200 is a master key not a sub key.

If it is an 05 onwards, any remote can be programmed to that model as the blade is stored in the key.
