  1. My car never reads the correct temperature [external temp reading] so i ordered up a sensor. Anyone fit one before? I didnt even look yet but it'd be nice to see if there's an easy way around it first Cheers Ray
  2. The bulbs i wouldnt find a problem , it's cheap ballast that give trouble
  3. Cheers for that , will have a better look at it when i collect the wheels!
  4. Yep i know the inner is different , it's the outer i'm looking to change for the later model as it has clear indicators Part numbers are the same except the model code , my mate works in lexus parts and is going to check it out on monday. Only problem i can see is the red part being a different design to the earlier model That's if the dimentions are the same Will let you know how i get on cheers
  5. Is it possible to change the earlier outer tail lamps on a 2001 model for the 2004 model [with the clear indicators]? They look similar anyway
  6. Does anyone know the part number for the centre caps of the factory 18" wheels as below? Have a set organised to go on my 2001 model but there are no centre caps with them. Would appreciate it if someone could pop off there centre cap and post up the part number! Cheers Ray
  7. Falken ZE912 is what i'll most likely go with. Just have to decide if i'm refurbing my 17"s or upgrading to 2004 18"s. The RX8 option is too much hassle for me Car was all over the road for the past week of bad weather. Ended up parking it up and driving a landcruiser over the christmas period
  8. Thanks for the link , just checked out their site there and am about to order a set of struts. Hopefully that'll do the trick! Cheers Ray
  9. Only seen this now , thanks for the reply. Decided it's too much hassle , by the time i pay H&R for the spacers , refurb and buy tires it'll work out too expensive. Am on the hunt for a set of 2004 18" wheels now , hope they dont ruin the ride quality
  10. Hmm maybe so , it's my first LS so unsure. It's very stiff to lift up , must be something not right all the same
  11. Yup was supposed to mention that too , dont know if it's worth the hassle or not! Will pm him now , cheers for that
  12. Should the boot on an LS430 pop open completely when you open it with the remote? Just mine pops open but only moves an inch. To lift the boot up , it is very stiff. There is a strap on the left hand side that makes me think that it might pop open fully and close again when i hit the remote but that is probably wishful thinking! What is the strap for? And do the rams get weak on them? Regards Ray
  13. Tried fitting a mates RX8 wheels to my 2001 430 , they do not clear the front calipers. What spacers do people use when fitting? Also the factory wheel nuts look ridiculous! Can the Mazda ones be used? Regards Ray
  14. Hi andy , so what pressure are you running now? Was thinking of changing my 17"s for 18"s for the looks but do not want to loose the ride comfort. Do you find it acceptable now?
  15. Hi Mark , tried fitting a mates RX8 wheels this eve , they wont clear the calipers so i cant rport what a tire change will do for me! Must set up a thread about the size of spacers needed
  16. My 2001 430 has full closure when i hold the button for a few seconds, did you try that? I cant think of anything i'd like to improve so far to be honest!
  17. Yea i ate all the pies :P Had a look at the tires tonight , they're not directional so not on backwards , thread is well above legal limit and they are Dunlop SP Sport. Not a bad tire from what i can figure
  18. Thanks for the replies , by the scrubbing , i mean when turning it on tarmac [10 mph etc] it scrubs at least one of the tires. It's almost as if the tracking is way off but the car is driving 100% straight so that cannot be the issue. I may drive another one to see if it is the same. I dont drive the car hard , it's just one of those cars where you sit back and let the car do the driving which is what i like about it! However , i did note on wet corners and roundabouts , the front was pushing on. I'll have a better look at the tires and report back
  19. Am thinking about refurbing 17" the wheels on my 2001 LS or buying RX8 18"s. Either way , what tires are you using? How do you find them , noise wise and handling wise? I find my car scrubs the front end a lot , which doesnt inspire confidence in the handling Just want to see as i'm going to order new tires soon to see if it improves the handling situation Regards Ray
  20. I'm 29 with and LS430 , good to see some VAG owners on this thread tho! Have a MK1 and MK2 GTi golf , Corrado , Vento VR6 , UPS Caddy Showvan that i display in the UK every now and then and 2 polos
  21. And what a car it is. Been thinking about one for the last two years and finally found the right one and done a deal. 2001 LS430 , Black with Cream leather. 103thou miles. Full history etc. Proper car if i do say so myself. Collected it earlier in the week and brought it with me for a weekend trip , 400mile round trip across the west of ireland and it proved to be a comfortable , reliable companion. Averaged 23.9 mpg , 400 miles to an almost empty tank [i'd say i'd have got close to 450] Problem now is getting it off my dad as he prefers it to his 2009 ML320 Mercedes. Couple of things i have noted: are they a little but nose heavy? Even turning on a wet carpark the front pushes on. Wet roundabouts are a no-go. Maybe it's the tires? All are well within legal limit iirc. The boot is akward and heavy to open , do the rams get weak on them? Should the boot pop open when you hit the button on the remote? Also , the Disp 2 on the steering does not do anything , is it a seperate trip log? Any comment much appreciated , will get pics up soon Regards Ray
  22. Hi guys , i'm new to Lexus after spending most of my life driving VAG cars [still have quite a few] So have decided i want some reliable comfortable motoring and am to look at this LS430 tomorrow http://www.carzone.ie/search/Lexus/LS430/4...rt?channel=CARS He has the car at 10,750 EURO as i'm in Ireland. Called him today and am looking at the car tomorrow with a figure that he suggested of 8,500 EURO in mind. Car has full Lexus main dealer service history , belt done at 73k and is in mint condition. The dealer sold this car 3.5 yrs ago to a customer and took it back in 9 months ago for 17k against a fresher Lexus. As i say he's willing to let it off at 8.5k as he reckons that the market has just dropped completely for heavy metal over here. From talking to a mate in a land rover /mercedes dealer here he says the same , they are taking massive hits on the value of range rovers and big engined mercs that were over valued at trade in time. So , what do you think of this car? What should i look out for when viewing? Any suggestions are appreciated. I'm looking forward to Lexus ownership , from reading this forum it sounds like i'll always want a Lexus! Cheers Ray
