  1. Thanks guys!

well if the only things I need to do to get it back to good condition is to get some new brake discs and 4 someone to take care of the little rust spot, compared to my Jag, which was a £3k car when I bought it, it's still a bargain! :D

atleast now I dont have to get new tyres, brake pads, exhausts, catalyser, fuel tank, fuel pump, cd player, fuses, etc, etc.... :)

... and before you say it, yes I've been quite good at buying dogs with fleas so far, or rather dogs with 3 legs, 1 of which broken, only 1 ear, blind and suffering from constipation! :winky:

  2. :duh: :crybaby::unsure::blush: guess that's a big no no then?? hey noone said I know stuff about cars, I used to own a Jag for gods sake! :winky:

not on the brakes themselves, more on the calipers, thought that might unstick them or something. guess there's nothing else to do now but get them to a garage and replaced. ah well as long's that's the only thing that needs repairing for a couple of months I'm happy! :D

    thnx for the advice!

  3. Thanks guys :excl :D

might be worth looking into getting the steering joints replaced then, can you guys gimme some indication as to what the costs are to get them replaced

went to national tyre to get them balanced and all that, they said tyres are looking ok and the fact they're from a different make shouldnt make much difference, and that the brake discs and pads seemed ok still :)

so i went home after they did the balancing, things feel much better now but there's still shuddering when braking, and I can hear an intermittent high pitched sound coming from the right front when I drive slowly with the windows open which is only there when the car's moving. When I came back home I sprayed some WD-40 on the brake shoes and the right front one was the only one that had a whole load of steam coming off!:excl:

So i'm guessing that means the brake discs warped afterall?

  4. Thnx Loz! :D

hey if you want mine, I'll trade it for one of yours! :P

it's blue leather actually, it's in not too bad a condition! its pretty nice indeed, of course I've never had the pleasure of driving around in a W reg Jag but i'll take your word for it! I think i'll be pretty happy with this one for a while! :zee:

  5. Hi!

I just bought a '92 LS400, and certain bits aren't functioning as they should. I've been searching the various forums for this but I still have some issues, was hoping someone could gimme some advice :blink:

firstly the antenna doesn’t go up or down any longer automatically. I had this problem on my Jag and there all it needed was a new antenna bit fitted, I understand the same goes for the Lex but where would I get the parts from?

There's plenty of second hand parts dealers for Jag bit but I can’t find any for Lexus parts. Or will a Jag antenna possibly fit?

Secondly I think the brake discs at the front are warped as the car's shuddering when driving over 50 and braking isn't exactly smooth, how much will it cost me to get it fixed and is it just new brake discs I need?

Thirdly the display for the clock and climate control' isn’t working, I read on the US forum they're doing a group purchase for them, is there any chance LOC uk will do something similar? or can I get them from somewhere else?

Last but not least, the switch to release the flap covering the petrol cap no longer works, any ideas on how to fix this??

    Thank you very much!

    :D

  6. is it not an option to fit bigger discs? they should be less stressed due to their bigger size and therefore last longer

just trying to give myself hope, as I'm not one to drive slowly and I dont want to have to spend £160+ on new brakes every couple of hundred miles! :crybaby::unsure:

  7. Cheers guys :excl: :D

the salesguy reassured me the FSH is on its way, they've apparently tracked it down and are getting the previous owner to send it to me. he also gave me this guy's address so i can chase it myself if need be. so i'm hoping he's genuine and not bull****ting me!

no way am I swapping my alloys for yours Ants, they're the main reason I bought the car! :P

just had a look and they're actual Lexus alloys as well, I'm quite chuffed with them as they're in a v good state! :D

it's got some old MOT's with it so i might have a look at the mileages on there, thnx for the tip Brian :excl:

cant wait to go home now, definetely going via a detour today! :hehe: :D

  8. Thanks guys!

I'm quite tempted to go to JAE to show off my new wheels but it depends a bit on timing, finance and the missus of course! :D

I have no idea where the wheels come from, the guy said they're actual Lexus aftermarket alloys, but as they're looking in pretty good shape (no corrosion as far as I could see) I doubt that.. :winky:

Just hope this guy aint bull****ting me about the FSH cause that would mean serious sh*t for me when i try and sell it again of course!:ph34r::angry:

Think i'll be getting new tyres soon anyway, I'll put some proper one's on then. anyone know what tyres they take as standard

cant wait to go pick it up tonite! watch this space for a comparison with the Jag :excl: :)

    nice car

but could you have purchased a GS300 SPORTS with that sort of miles

for maybe £5000/5500k ??? which you intend to do

    Thnx m8 :excl::lol:

Well i've seen some for sale in the Trader for that kinda money, but when I finally got the loan they were gone, and I didn't want to hang around waiting for one for ages, and this one cought my eye so I figured why not go have a look..

And thanks to Loz's checklist I decided it was in a good condition, so I bought it! :D

.....only issue is that the tyres on the left are a different make from the one's on the right.... and the guy didn't have the FSH handy but he says he'll get it for me..

  10. well after a lot of driving all over the country and checking the autotrader every 5 seconds for weeks I finally didn't buy the GS300 I wanted but a LS400 instead. and here she is! :D  :D
