  1. To be honest i can't remember, that was Sept 2004 and i sold it in Sept 2005 as i now work in the States. If i recall i messed with the contact in the bulb holder, maybe bent the sping a little ???
  2. Thanks for your pointers guys :) , its actually the Brake System light ... not the handbrake light (that works OK) I'm leaning more towards a dodgy rear bulb, i noticed the right hand brake light didn't work, so i went to change the bulb and noticed the filament was OK, so tried the brake pedal again and this time it did work ? so not sure if its a wire problem or metal contact, i'll keep looking :) Cheers guys Ant
  3. Thanks guys , i'll get me sandpaper on the bulb connectors ...... can you point me in the direction of the handbrake switch to check :)
  4. Hi Guys My Brake system warning is sometimes on permanently, can be on for the whole of a journey, and not on the next journey, and then on again the next time..it doesn't flicker its just either on or not?? I've checked the manual, and therefore checked the bulbs for brake lights which are OK, and i've checked the Brake fluid level, which is fine too .... the parking brake is released also so i cant find what the problem may be? Does it indicate any other problem, or is there a connection i can check? cheers Ants
  5. Sorted now :) it did just need adjusting, fortunately. The pedal is much more positive now and only moves about 1/3 the travel it did before :) thanx for your suggestions Ants
  6. Thanks guys i hope its just a matter of adjustment, least i can point the garage in the right direction for adjustment :) Ants
  7. Hi guys I've just had my MOT fail at a local garage ('94 GS300) due to lack of reserve in the parking brake, i.e. the pedal goes all the way to the floor. Apparently there is adjustment in it, but does anyone know where i access it for adjustment, is it under the car? near in pedal? ?? Any pointers much appreciated cheers Ants
  8. BUMP...just incase anyone had any ideas :) its like using the force driving on these country roads
  9. Thanks for that, i just wondered if it was possible to replace them without messing up completely the alignment. I could just have the fronts checked, now i know it can be done :) Ants
  10. Hi guys I have to have the Lower ball joints replaced on my Mk1 GS300, lexus did some work on some suspension bars a few months ago and charged £100 to do the wheel alignment afterwards. Is it possible to get these replaced from a non lexus dealer without having to have the full wheel alignment again, i don't fancy paying out £100 again for something that was done a little while ago. cheers Ants
  11. Hi Guys I've noticed on the odd occasion that i use my main beam on my MK1 GS300 it is totally useless the light points into the ground about 10 feet ahead of me. I've know that i can adjust the head light level with the switch and it moves up and down......should the main beam move also???? Can i manually udjust the main beam up slightly any advice greatfully received Ants
  12. Have a look here: http://www.kjregistrations.com/htm-dvlaauctions.htm or here http://www.selectplates.co.uk/registration...on-auctions.htm or here http://www.dvla-som.co.uk/ and of course ebay :)
  13. If you buy a plate but don't have a car to put it on, you can simply place it on a retention certificate which costs £25 each year. There doesn't seem to be any pattern as to getting the same registration as the car had previously, i've moved my plate about 4 times now and only got the original back once, all the others were just age equivalent. If these people say they will sell your reg for you be prepared for a long wait as previously said, it could take months, either advertise it privately or put it in an auction if you want shot of it quicker :) Just a few nuggets i've learned about buying and selling plates over the last few years :) my best was M 80XTA which i sold to a guy with a boxter when they first came out made £2000 on it :D
  14. The tyre place also does mechanical repairs, i have taken past cars there, they are very good, not one of these Kwik Krap places, even managed to get some Kumho tyres 225 55 16's for £91 each including everything so i'm pleased. Micelis..sorry to hear you havin troubles m8, anything serious ??? i've not sorted the Amp yet,,living with it fir the time being..got other thing to worry about at the moment like writing up my PhD cos there gonna stop funding it shortly
  15. Thanx for that, i thought i may be something serious, i'm actually getting some new rear tyres tommorow so i'll ask them if they can grease up the brakes whilst there at it :) Cheers Ants944
  16. Jif or Cif or whatever the euro crowd call it these days works too, a small amount on a damp cloth will get almost anything off plastic, i used it on the plastic at the base of the seats and dashboard for scuff marks.
  17. Seems a lot of hassle to me, i have a 1980 924 Turbo and due to the lag you could keep the turbo from spooling up fully by keeping it below 3500rpms but if i had been for a blast i would always slow down for the last few minutes of the journey and then leave the car running for about 20secs when stationary. You may find its possible to duct air in the direction of the turbo's with some flexible ducting, i did this on mine as Porsche in their wisdom decided to place the turbo on the same side as the exhaust manifold :o
  18. Hi guys I have developed a high pitched brake squeal coming from the rear brakes, i assumed at first that the pads had worn down and we were rubbing metal its that kinda sound, but the pads are fine infact they look almost new. Does anyone know why they are doing this, is happens under braking at most speeds especially slower ones and is very high pitched, the discs look OK too :duh:
  19. Cheers dcfish, pm'd Thanx lexussport but where do i find a decent breakers of Lexi (Lexususs) :) what ever ..even google struggles to find and specialist ones in the UK. Ants944
  20. Would advice the usual checks, but if you do a search on Autotrader.co.uk you will notice that that price is very cheap, a great buy if its all it says it is. I assume it is a proper badged Lexus and not an import of some sort is it?? Good luck it sounds like a good deal
  21. Well i got a reply from autosound : Seems reasonable, so whan i get a bit of spare cash i'll probably sent it to them :)
  22. Wasn't me honest no-body saw me do it :) Cheers James2210 i'll send them an email see what they say. Cheers Ants944
  23. Well i have had various people look at at my system (i've checked the speaker, and is been continuity tested) and everything is pointing to a dodgy output from the Amp. But no-one seems willing or able to repair it, (last resort i'm gonna try Sextons when i found out the model no.) is it possible to source these amps second hand (from where) or anyone know of an equvalent that will just plug in, i notice it is made by Pioneer. Cheers Ants944
  24. Redkenny : I spoke to a service guys at Lexus yesterday and he said when they do an AirCon clean on the Mk1 or Mk2 they have a bug-bomb type canister that they let off in the car with aircon in recirculation mode. Takes about 10mins They will sell one for about £18 + Vat
  25. Thanx for that jac114 i would have looked a right muppet trin to get behind the fascia for it. Ok so i managed to get the amp out and take the cover off, nothing seems to have obviously blown (no black marks) does any one know which is the bit that controlls the Drivers speaker. Alternatively it could be the controls behind the fascia???? could it ?? anyone know how to test the output to the speaker ??? Ants944
