  1. Hi Guys I have a dodgy drivers door speaker connection, i've removed the speaker and tested it on the passenger side and it works and the wiring looks OK. Someone mentioned it could be a transistor on the amp for that channel.....but how do i get to the amp its a MK1 GS300 i don't want to go in blindly tring to remove the fascia with a screwdriver if there is an easy way to do it. cheers Ants
  2. Your in luck Loz no picking hair out of teeth for you , got one from a small car accessory shop £2.40 works perfectly :) cheers man
  3. I would be interested to know too, my '94 GS300 makes a grinding noise too, its definately out of warranty but if there was a recall notice would older cars not get it fixed ??? Ants
  4. I've noticed this on my '94 GS300 if the window is completely up i get wind noise, if it just blip the button slightly to lower the window a Millimeter or 2 is goes away. I have noticed that the outer part of the door in the top corner appears to be slightly bent outwards.
  5. Thanks for the input guys :) You got any idea how to remove the stereo/fascia to get to the amp with standard tools Nice one the individual non-radio keys are quite cheap, but they only have sets of Radio keys in pairs and they are $295 ex postage :o i may just pop-in to the Lexus dealer in Swindon and see if they think its the battery...i'll let you guys know Ants
  6. Hello again Well as promised i've got a piccie of my first Lexus as well as a couple of questions: My wireless key doesn't seem to work, the guy said it probably needed a new battery, but i've checked it and there are still 2.8v in it, surely thats enough. Does this mean my key is knackered (i only have 1) how much would a new one be (or shouldn't i ask ) And i managed to take the Drivers Door panel off to get at the speaker which wasn't working, nothing obvious so i took the panel off the passenger side..removed the drivers door speaker and plugged that into the passenger speaker cable and it worked :) ..... So i know there is nothing wrong with the speaker and the wireing seemed OK too, does this mean its the output from the stereo does anyone know of an easy way to check. BTW i manged to find a Japanese Car specialist garage in Lambourn who are gonna service it complete with proper spark plugs for £210 + Vat pretty good i thought..although i will have to go to Lexus when it needs it CamBelt Ants
  7. I got my GS300 at the Weekend from an independent dealer and that was one thing he stressed. The battery is dead (i have to actually turn the key in the lock .... :D ) And he said if i change the battery i have 10secs to put the new one in. I guess we must be in Urban legend country, there must be some truth in it if its what everyone had heard Ants
  8. Very nice m8....even if it wasn't what you were after Definately like those wheels i'll swap ya! thats the only thing with the standard GS300 wheels, they seem too small for the wheel arch, yours would fit mine a treat i'm sure Happy motoring
  9. Well Guys i finally did it and got my first Lexus :D I had been holding out and looking to get an import but i couldn't let this one go, its a 1994 GS300 with full Lexus History and 118K on the clock in Dark blue. Had to drive 160 miles to get it but it was worth it, i particularly like the stereo system.my other cars have had a single disc player but this 12 disc system has a tad more power :D Couple of questions : Where do i sign up for Gold memebership..gonna get it serviced How do i remove the rear grill on the parcel shelf speaker..its a bit faded gonna spay it And is it easy to get to the door speakers cos the driver side one isn't working sorry i don't have any piccies yet (don't have a digi camera) but i'll take one from work soon when i get it taxed Not bad for less than 4 grand Ants
  10. Yeah i saw something about this, its only on the Front side windows the rear windows don't count they are allowed to be dark, but they were clamping down in Blackpool and using a special photodiode thing that measured how much light got through the glass. Ants
  11. I was lead to believe that the total reflective reg plates although reflecting the light from a flash still have black numbers letter underneath (obviously) and that these numbers/letters being black will absorb some of the flash light. Therefore with the software the police use they can actually brighten the dark letters and produce a negative image which shows your registration. You then not only get done for speeding but also for trying to mask your registration :winky: As someone who got done last week for speeding buy a patrol i can say i am gutted i left my Speed trap detector in the other car
  12. Thanx for those replies guys :D thats exactly the sort of money i was thinking of too. I've sent a couple of PM's to you :) Ants944

  17. Hi Guys I've managed to find a reasonably priced GS300 1995 M reg with 117K on it and a full Lexus Service history and its less than £5000. Would i be right in assuming 117K is nothing to worry about, and is there anything specific i should ask/check before i go and look at it, as it about 100miles away from me :) cheers Ants
  18. Hi Guys I'm looking to become a MK1 Lexus GS300 owner in the next few months hopefully and looking round here you lot seem to have all the answers :) Gonna have a look around the whole forum for answers to questions like "Where can i find cheap MK1 Sport wheels for the non Sport (and do they fit) ?" ...."Are there any good independent Lexus/Toyota service agents?".... "Where do babies come from?" Ants944
