  1. I have a 2000 plate SE, just wondering if the early is200 came with VSC or was this just on later models?? thanks
  2. Up here in Newcastle it has been terrible, havent drove the lexus since saturday night ( its okay taking it slowly when you get going but dont stop otherwise you'll need a push). Been using my girlfriends corsa which is great in the snow. Doubt I'll be using the lexus till things clear up............ which doesnt look anytime soon. If this is going ot happen every year then I'm definitely going to get a set of cheap wheels and get some snow tyres on them.
  3. the is200 has a heated screen look through the vents under the drivers scuttle panel and youll see the connections........... as the only thing they have the pat for is the wire used in the windscreen.. Yeah thats what I was referring to.
  4. Well the weather has been ******* up here, no more snow forcast till sunday, most roads are clear but side streets are like an icerink. My girlfriends house is at the top of a half mile long hill and its a 30 degree slope, last year at least 50 cars got stuck...........im going there tonight...... must be mad. I've been driving like an old granny for the past two days 20mph all the way
  5. The heated screen is only available on Fords (and companys owned by ford) as the have the patent for it. As for the heaters, most cars ive had do take a while to warm up. my 200 take a few minutes also.
  6. yeah tried that, car just feels fidgety
  7. Well after my first experience of driving the car in snow today I can safely say its a bit of a pig. Didnt get stuck, it just felt very unstable sliding around at low speeds. Before anyone says this I know most people have the wrong type of tyre on....but still....... might get the bus tomorrow. :tsktsk:
  8. On my way to Leeds last night very foggy, then just before the Wetherby turn off there was a huge lump of god knows what lying there on the road didn't see it till the last minute near side wheels both hit it and made a hell of a noise. Anyway stopped checked the wheels they seemed okay but felt maybe a slight vibration driving on. Maybe its just me being paranoid dunno whether to get it checked before I travel back?
  9. Looks really good, I notice your selling another set on fleabay, tempting as there the right colour for my car!!! :winky:
  10. Sailed through no problems, impressive for a 10 year old car.
  11. Yeah my rear discs were really bad changed them few weeks ago, apart from that don't think anything else is an issue.
  12. My first MOT for the car tomorrow.......hope it all goes smoothly
  13. Ta for the reply heres the link http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CHROME-EXHAUST-TAIL-PIPE-TRIM-90-mm-STRAIGHT-NEW-/120597946035?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1c14329eb3 One thing to note, I had to change the screws that you attach it with as they were too long and looked a bit ****ty sticking out
  14. After looking around to find an exhaust trim that fits a 80mm wide pipe(not many around), found this one on fleabay. Fits nice and snug, only thing is I think it sticks out too far, I would have prefered it a bit more flush with the bumper (cant be bothered with trimming it down and putting new holes in it). Anyway any opinions on this?? cheers
  15. Cheers for the reply, will send off an email with those parts numbers.
  16. Morning all Decided to have a look around for a body kit for my is. Didn't have much looking around a certain auction site so tried my luck with Lexus. I sent out e.mails to each of the three dealerships in the north east Newcastle Carlise and Middlesbrough. Carlise didn't bother to reply, Newcastle weren't interested but the Middlesbrough branch was really help full said he would look into it and reply with availability and price. Anyway he did reply front skirt £146.37 rear skirt £175 .86 side skirts £337.52 When i asked what they were he said they weren't TRD,TTE etc but didn't say what they were. He couldn't send me the pictures but offered to show me them if I popped down to Teeside to see him. Hours drive to see pictures on a pc????? So not sure what Body Kit this could be?
  17. All sorted out, used Wynns dry lubricant ( quite a bit) all sorts of brown sludge came out from behind the mirror, anyway the drivers mirror now closes faster than the passenger side now!!!
  18. hi,as far as i can i know they dont often fail as i have owned two IS 200's and has never been an issue, try giving the casing a few gentle taps/knocks and spray again with WD 40 and see what happens. I tried again earlier today and it seems a bit better, at one point it stopped working altogether after i was opening and closing it a few times. Going to leave it and try again tomorrow, must have used half a can of WD40 already...... there was a fair amount of filth and dirt coming out when i sprayed it in. ......that sounds disgusting sorry.
  19. Few days ago I noticed the drivers side wing mirror was very labored when opening or closing. Its also stuck a few times since. Tried WD40 but didn't help much. The motor sounds as if its really struggling to open it. Do they often fail??? Thanks
  20. Crazy! , tried adding and removing different named drivers on the policy and got it down to £500 a year down from £680. This is with Iggy Pops favourite insurer. :winky:
  21. no probs, hope its nothing too drastic.
  22. you have probably bent the suspension arm on the rear, it will be difficult to tell unless you get it up on a ramp. Is that suspension arm has to be replaced? Or can it be repaired? replaced i'm afraid, IF it is that( sounds like it if the wheels sticking out at an angle) there is probably damage to the surrounding area as well, wheel bearing etc. but best to have it looked at by a mech.
  23. you have probably bent the suspension arm on the rear, it will be difficult to tell unless you get it up on a ramp.
  24. The anti-squeal spring was delivered by Lexus Newcastle this morning ( free of charge very nice of them ). Fitted it and after driving around for 10 mins the noise has totally gone. Glad it was nothing major!!
  25. Took the wheel off today to have a look, as i said previously the anti-squeal spring was missing. The pads in the caliper are very loose because of this i could wiggle them around. Rang Lexus parts and have ordered a new spring. Should be here be Tuesday, cost £5.20.........
