  1. Not sure fitting a sports grille to a base model is the right thing to do. Strapping breasts onto a man doesn't turn him into a woman. Base model???? just makes the car look better. I really admire those who use their skill and talent to design/fabricate modifications to enhance the appearance of their car and make it individual. I only slightly less admire those who know their limitations and use mod kits for the same purpose - which results in something a little less individual. However, bolting on bits from models further up the chain is just too close to "forgery" even if that is not the motive. Strangely, nobody seems adds details to top-end models from base models even if they are aesthetically better. Okaaaay, its not as if i'm putting a huge exhaust on the back or slapping turbo or kompressor badges all over it. I just prefer the look of the car with that grille on...... p.s. it came this morning easy to fit looks the bis
  2. Thats nothing to worry about, just looks like chips down to the bare metal. Just get the paint from lexus and do it yourself. easy to do

  4. the warranty only covers the rust coming from inside out, if its surface rust its not covered. I had a little blip on the underside of the rear passenger door, sorted it out myself, best to get rust early.
  5. I got an email the morning after I ordered it saying it was posted. I did ring them in the morning to make sure it was the correct colour, whether that speeded things up i don't know.
  6. Cheers for the reply's. Got them to deliver it to my workplace so probably get it on Monday hopefully. Tempted to get a TRD badge to go on the front grill now........
  7. Just bought a Sport Grill on eBay from Lexus Birmingham. Two things if anyone's bought one from them, how long do they usually take to post them out? and is it easy to remove the badges on the Grill (i.e. are they held in place with screws??) thanks
  8. It seems to have settled itself out, bit more noise low down but the growl at the high end is back. :D
  9. I've replaced the standard air filter (which was filthy and needed replacing anyway) with a K & N one. Strange thing is that that throaty roar you get at the high end of the rev band seems to have quietened down. Everything else seems the same, throttle responce seems to have improved though, see how it goes with the MPG. Anyone else notice this when replacing there air filter with a K & N replacement?? Cheers
  10. I think that's a great price for that sort of service if they do a good job as well. I know a few people who have used them and the finish on the wheels is first rate, he claims that they will look better than a brand new set would from lexus!!! :D Asked Lexus today about the wheel refurb as i was taking the car in to have the air con pulley replaced. They said it was done in house and not even a full refurb............ it still cost 75 quid a wheel. I could do it my self for how they would go about refurbishing the wheels.

  12. They would be done in a day, drop the car off and pick it up in the evening. Cleaned in acid, machined the whole works. I'm in Newcastle so some of the places mentioned may be a tad too far thanks anyway.
  13. Just been quoted £250 for a full refurb of the standard 5 spoke alloys on my IS, was going to be £350 but cheaper if you pay cash ( no receipt or years guarantee). Its a well known franchise business. Anyone think this is a good deal or not?? cheers
  14. got the car back but the tensioner for the belt that drives the aircon??? was knackered, so thats an extra 80 quid its getting fitted on thursday so no aircon..........typical in the middle of a heat wave!!!
  15. Grom adapter 80 quid and up over, tape adapter £1.35p on ebay. :winky:
  16. i think its because the tape deck thinks the tape has been jammed so it ejects it. There should be a cog/wheel on a spring in the middle of the adapter this could be too stiff so try loosening it if you can, should sort it out.....
  17. Rang Lexus Newcastle this morning got it booked in straight away. Its getting done as I type this, picking it up at 4:00. Cost was £359 inc vat.
  18. Mines the same too, happens randomly. Thought it might be the u joint at first??
  19. Hi just recently bought a 2000 plate IS with 42000 on the clock, the bloke i bought it from had it from new and only used it on rare occasions. Anyway i asked him about the cam belt and he said it hadnt been done. So decided i better be safe than sorry so i'm going to change it. Ive emailed lexus newcastle for a price, but i was wondering if anybody knew any independent lexus specialists in newcastle??? thanks
  20. Don't think the cambelts been changed. Picking the car up tomorrow, its silver by the way.
  21. His just joined the owners club as I have bought a IS200 SE, its a X plate with 40,000 on the clock and totally immaculate ( will post some pics soon) paid a reasonable £3400 for her. It was used as a weekend car so i was told. The bloke selling it didnt want to let it go but his wife wanted a new car.
