  1. Hi, I have a 1999 LS400 Mk4... had it for about 5 years. Recently I have noticed that it feels rather sluggish when cold, but seems to improve when up to operating temp. Been like that since last summer actually. I also notice the fuel consumption has gone up. I wonder if anyone has have ideas what might be causing this? Spark plugs are fairly new still... not really had much done to the car of course... being a Lexus!!
  2. Thanks guys. I think it may need spark plugs actually as it's not had new ones in my ownership anyway. May be a good place to start.
  3. No same tyres as well. Oddly it seemed to start around the time I changed the air filter but surely that can't be the cause?
  4. Yeah the cold weather does have an impact but I'm comparing against the last few winters as well. Wheels seem to be turning freely, I did jack the car up and check. Tyre pressure is also fine.
  5. Hi, I've been experiencing a drop in MPG over the past few months. I've owned the car for about 3 years and regularly do a trip from the Scottish Borders to Aberdeen. Same route, same petrol and same speed but I'm about 3-4 MPG off. Any idea what could be causing thing? I know it's not a massive amount but just wondered.
  6. That's really cool. Definately the sort of holiday I'd enjoy! Perfect car for the job too!
  7. Thanks again. My dad called Toyota and they want £417+VAT each... crazy stuff! Looks like that will be getting patched up some other way... the car only cost him around £600, which is actually amazing value as he's had it for quite some time and it's hardly needed any work done. Although that's hardly going to come as a surprise to you fellow LS owners!!
  8. Hi, my dad's LS400 (actually import Toyota Celsior) had these things sticking in the exhaust but I have no idea what they are. They are on both sides, near the O2 sensor which looks the same as on my LS400 but the LS400 doesn't have these things, must be Celsior specific. Both have popped out. Any ideas?
  9. It's true though, the X308 Jag is riddled with known issues / potential problems. Although I am sure they are very nice cars when the work properly. I don't think I could ever relax owning one. I gather the earlier X300 (6 cylinder model) is a lot better, and the later X350 is also supposed to be ok as far as I know.
  10. I figured that for people my age, it's never going to be a better time to run a V8! And everybody needs to own a V8 once in their lives :) Quite right! Everyone should own a V8 at some point. You mentioned "wheels" are next on the agenda. New ones or getting yours refurb'd? I would try to keep it original if you can, or get Lexus DHP alloys, but anything too big will probably spoil the ride. Just my opinion though. Each to their own!
  11. I'm 31. But running a 4.0 V8 at 23 or 24 is very cool! Particularly considering most people that age are driving around in Ford Fiesta's or similar!
  12. I gave a guy near Edinburgh a wave last year and got a wave back, which I thought was really cool!
