    If lines for your specific model then can find the dimensions to then source from a different model? A good brake supplier might be able to look into this for you.

    I've fitted braided lines to a couple of cars and barely felt any improvement. Long term it doesn't seem that they are a good option for a daily either, take a look at this;

    A very informative article, thanks for sharing this. Ed

    Use carparts4less next time - same company as ECP but cheaper prices - almost always.

    They are £24.38 with NOV12!

    Every little helps!

    This particular example is a bad one because its only a few pennies but on some stuff it seems to really add up, especially on Bosch wiper blades.

    I read that they are sister companies. Bit like B&Q owning Screwfix I guess

  3. Aah, a Vanden Plas 1300 Princess, my very first car, bought it from an old lady for £25 in 1975, ran it for a year until my father pulled up beside me at the traffic lights (I was 15). I sold it for £40, the only car i have ever made money on in my life. Walnut Picnic tables in the back, very classy. Remember sweating when a transit full of cops gave me a push start outside the Botanic gardens. I was big for my years....

    Hot air rises so the best way of heating the cabin is to have the air come out at the lowest point and it warms things up as it rises. If your hands are cold or if the screen needs defrosting then you can manually point the air where you want it, but on auto, it'll always come out of the footwell. During summer the air will usually come out of the higher vents because cold air falls.

    A very simple explanation but perfect sense. I'd never given it thought before, thank you John. Ed

  5. I hear very good reports on the Avon ZX7 as a reasonable balance of quality and cost. If money no object i would go for Michelin Cross Climate but they are pretty expensive, fine if we get a terrible winter as they are said to be excellent. They certainly worked a treat on my last car, a C Class estate, transformed it in poor conditions. I was lucky and sourced a brand new set of 18" Wheels and tyres from a brand new RX200T, the owner wanted 20" for some reason. They were fitted with Dunlop SportMaxx and they are a definite improvement on the Bridgestone Duellers that were OEM on my car.

    Nexen are certainly around, they're not as bad as some of the Chinese 'ditchfinders' I have read reports about.

    Sorry not to give you a definitive reply.

    PS, is this your first SUV, it is 2.2 tonnes and they certainly don't stop as fast as conventional saloons or estates?

    Sorry to read your story

  6. I don't think fitting a towbar requires any cooling, it's when you are towing heavy items such as caravans that there is a lot of stress on the cooling and lubrication systems and i understand people fit additional oil and radiator systems. I only wanted a bike carrier so no need. I suppose a caravan site may offer more advice. I do hear the RX range make excellent towcars so someone on those sites will offer best advice.

  7. I have a 2010 RX450 and recently had a towbar supplied and fitted by PF Jones, an eBay site. No cutout to the bumper at all. It's a detachable swan neck. Give them a phone, they were very helpful. Total was about £400 from memory. Can't be sure of RX300 but I'm sure they will know.

    Just checked their website, there is a non detachable model with no bumper cuts.

  8. I loved the tape deck on my old IS300 Sportcross. Can't stand CDs, and even worse, USB sticks. Just takes up where you left it, more modern tech seems to go back to the beginning with me. Once got thoroughly confused listening to a Sherlock Holmes story on CD only to discover it had been on f***ing shuffle mode! I knew that particular character had died earlier....
