  1. another couple i know the mx5 is a decent car as is prob a mgtf, but lets face it their really girlie cars so why do guys drive them?. leading me onto my next 'oh my *** not another one' jibe. whats cool about driving one of these in mid winter with the roof down when your obviously freezing your nuts off? oh yeh... people carriers...argh going back to chav drivers ive also noticed spotty baseball wearing chavs sitting on the floor of their cars peering ober the wheel just assumed it was thier age and lack of height can someone tell us what thats about?
  2. i know a car is just a piece of metal and should be impossible to hate but some types seem to attract the same owners making the whole model range something to be loathed here are my top three, whats yours: 1. micra! slow, dithery, one speed(usually around 40 reguardless of motorway or outside a school) indicate...never! always ages at toll booths. and just about any other road crime available! 2. novas! driven by young chavys, thumping bass and always trying to pass you 3. saxo vtr/vts! driven by slightly older chavs with more money but less sense
  3. strapped for cash at moment and service is overdue car is 3 years old and only covered 17000 miles up til now has had all recomended services to keep warranty as this is now finished what is the minimum i can do to keep her road worthy for another year without going for the expensive 36000 service due to its low milage? cheers
  4. ok test drive over, result: looks good and very well built, prob as good as lex dislikes... bumpy ride, gearchange 2-3 was bad, footrest, also thought there would be more rear room than there was so its a no! x3 i took out after was nice though, pity it was 10 grand more :)
  5. ok heres the deal lex is getting on a bit but replacement at least 18 months away what to change for in the meantime that wont loose an arm and a leg result rav 4 i know its a big departure but, well ,at least it will be as reliable as the lex and holds it price better than any bmw or audi,, and its a change anyway wife likes it test drive tommorrow what can i expect joy or tears
  6. I'm not sure how your doing it, but i specd up a 3 series to same as SE auto nav.. £24.5k for the lex and 27k for the bima, not much more really. And cant remember what the A4 came upto just rechecked 320i sport auto/ leather/roof /washers /elec heated seats/metalic/thro load/cd changer.....£32080
  7. dont know abot tankfull but my auto only does about 20 mpg around town
  8. yeh forgot about that also test drove a 3dr a3 sport recently and ride was like a trolly jack! plus 1 series is ugly! thing is basic price always looks ok but they both lack the proper options which push price through the roof be honest only car which competes on price is the merc
  9. small on size big on price just did an online configuration for both the new 1 series and a3 sportback se spec auto leather etc both in excess of £26000 when speced as IS did a simular pricing with 3 series and a4 awhile back and they came to over £32000 and the audi doesnt have a six pot roll on new IS
  10. according to auto express new Is will have a diesel option what do you think will be the percentage takeup?? economy over the heart? especially as new IS will prob be 2.5
  11. yep been serviced at lexus for the three years runs out end of month anyone had major probs after 3 years and lexus have offered a loyalty part cost repair??? if so could be worth keeping it up
  12. my car has just turned 3 year old and therefore is now out of warranty its covered just 16000 miles and i intend to keep for another year is it really worth the expensive lexus servicing or will an oil change and check do? do you reckon it will effect the residual priceand resale? must be honest im a bit lazy too as its a 200 mile roundtrip
  13. any pics/dates on replacement out there??
  14. and why those stupid 16" wheels emmisions, mpg? after contemplating what, if any to change too, came up with this as an ideal stopgap till next IS' arrives, not being a speed freak(and not having the cash for a 300) and i cant get it!
  15. id haggle a bit they wouldnt get that price at a dealer or auction
  16. before you all shout 'another one' or 'new model next year'. what seriously have you considered a change too: hard isnt it! my list has included, with comments: mazda rx8....no auto or cruise. poor mpg( f%$%g great to drive though) mercedes c class saloon....bit dull mercedes c class coupe....quite like this in new model ,rear access awkward saab aero....um bmw 3 series.... poor driving position, too many around, new model soon audi a4 avant....practical good deisel(yuk) but expensive extras and facelift due jaguar x type 2.5....old man image. resale. no cruise on sport model rav 4....no cruise.well built and practical though volvo s40 t5....um and i end up back where i started with a car ive had longer than any other and cant replace
  17. thers a few on ebay under 7500 or why not get an altezza?
  18. have to agree with above although i do like the full leather but.. yuk yhose alloys!! bad enough when they were silver on the LE model but what were lexus thinking when they painted em!
  19. well as i started this topic off thought id follow it up after having my test drive today first off the rx8 looks stunning! build quality also looks good, tight even panel joins etc, no rattles , good paint driving position is also excellent and well adjustable including lumbar, sadly missing on IS. inside car also feels special as outside and well laid out, although some of you may dislike the suicide doors they are very handy and aid access greatly then theres the price, just over £20k for an individual looking sports car with great performance( oh yes it does go..) and handles superbly to be honest if i owned a BMW coupe ( which i have)id have been reaching for my cheque book today trouble is i own a lexus so the decision is that much harder also i have a problem with returning to a stick shift especially as every other market except uk can get auto with steering wheel paddles further info: waiting time is still 3 months also got dissapointing px price, dealer showed me book and IS is dropping fast last couple of months, dont know why? offered £13000 FOR 51 plate se auto 14000 miles mint condition
  20. am i stupid to even consider this change anyone driven one yet? looks good in flesh and on paper test drive booked for saterday unless you can persuade me otherwise
  21. surely, bent or not, if they spin ok on yhe machine then they should on the car?
  22. ever since i had my faulty wheels swapped out for some refurb ones ive had a vibration at around 60 went back to dealer and had all wheels rebalenced but prob still there ant ideas? was thinking they had swapped tyres around onto different wheels but could this really make a difference?
  23. went to a dealer yesterday and got quoted a px price of £13500 for my 51 plate is200 se auto in imaculate condition with parking sensors and rear spoiler and only 14000 on the clock seem about right? or just trade price? think i'd be better selling to an fellow enthuisiest? cheers guys
