  1. As a former is200 owner i thought id see if you guys would kindly vote for my latest car which has been shortlisted for the 2012 car of the year in banzai magazine. It only takes a few seconds to put in your name and email address so please if you can it would be great. Im number 15, Michael Stanhope with the White Micra Turbo so please vote here: http://www.banzaimagazine.com/caroftheyear/ I plan to be an IS200 owner again one day! Really miss mines :(
  2. I just cannot understand people who keep giving an opinion about stuff they never tried ^^^^^Ben Rose and his comments about my cars tyre setup then?? Haha
  3. Now that we have a little spread of snow i thought id test the tyres to my needs. Took my car to the dundee law hill which is a little steep and bigger than any slope id tried before the tyres were fitted. Drove up it no problem so i thought they cant be that good. So took it to law street just before adelaide place junction in dundee (check google maps if you must) which is about as steep as i could think about, this time i stopped and done a hill start. A small slip at the rear and then the car just pulled me up the hill. I now know i cannot get stuck anywhere that i need to go. Snow tyres have amazed me!
  4. They are nankang sv-2 205/45/17 I went to a car park today to test it more, slight uphill to get in. Pure ice and the car got me up no bother again. These tyred amaze me.
  5. I only plan to keep these tyres on until maybe mid/late february when the weather is on the up. These are just a short term solution, i might even buy another 2 next winter if the car doesnt go where i want it too this season
  6. I understand everything perfectly, im just not listening. I have money for another 2 tyres but why should i? Im safe enough with what im using, maybe its only me that can see this on here. Before i fitted the tyres the car felt like it was driving side ways at low temps but now totally straight. Do you really think if i had problems with the front tyres i wouldnt change them? Its the fact the front went everywhere i wanted it to go and the back didnt follow because of the lack of grip. Now i have that grip and can make it home when the weather gets bad again instead of abandoning it for a week. Everyone can keep commenting but until something happens due to my tyre setup you have nothing against me
  7. I have called them actually and they said because they are temporary and just tyres i didnt need to inform them! As for grip, its awesome. I have 2 like new tyres on the front not balds. Where as before i had about 2mm tread left on the rears. All these posts are funny, so far youve not been right about anything. Thats a sign to shut up :D
  8. Id say it is totally safe to drive home from a pub. However if under the influence of alcohol then no it is not. I feel your comments in this thread towards me are pointless as you have no experience of what im doing. Goodbye
  9. i was simply trying to say that i was expecting after all this, let us know how you get on rather than it wont work at all. i plan to update as i go and as the weather gets worse, if anything happens yes it is my fault but i cannot see how as ive bought these purely to get me home after going to asda or into town. not for long drives down a snow packed motorway or taking fast corners. im a safe driver and will cope with this setup as im not going to even go out when its at its worst.
  10. I think you are all over reacting here. Yes the tyres were ordered and yes i drive an IS. Ive just beeen to newcastle and back 380 miles in total down the a1. The car is great with 2 rear fitted winter tyres and 2 kuhmo's i think it is on the front. You are basically commenting on something youve not experienced, which is kinda like explaining s*x when your a virgin. Now i really hope the snow comes back wether its 2 or 10 inches so i can test my setup and let you guys know what its like. Were all meant to be for and not against on these forums
  11. They had none in stock i had to order them. This place is the only place i use for tyres, i got 205/45/17 nankang sv-2. There really is no safety issue with the tyre setup i have. Who here has used this setup and had an accident????
  12. Please stop making idiot comments, ive been told on this thread ill not be able to control my car, Ill lose it at the slightest turn, ill end up killing someone. Maybe before the tyres were fitted yes as i couldnt control the car but not now. I dont know what you think i drive like but its certainly not fast enough to do things that have been said. Those videos are a joke too, in those conditions you would never drive that fast. Now i know you are all a bit too sensible on here but thats not me and will never be. If someone says to me somethings not possible/going to work. Ill prove them wrong. And unless its illegal like i said before im not putting another 2 on :D
  13. well ive now got 2 snow tyres fitted to the rear and have done around 100 miles so far. straight away i went to a car park where there was sheet ice and a slight uphill climb, car took off up the hill no problems at all without TRC light flashing. so far the back end of the car is 100 times better than its ever been. i used to go on the wet white lines or a drain to have the back end wobbling, now i dont need to worry about this its just so secure. i spoke to the place who fitted the tyres and they said to me there should be no issues with only rear fitted snow tyres so long as ive not been experiencing front end slip which i havent and that they would only recommend fitting 4 snow tyres to a 4WD car. ill update as i go and once the weather gets worse but with these better tyres i cannot see me having an accident unless its not my fault. stani
  14. Unplug/clean the connections to the TRC switch? Sounds like the car thinks its skidding therefore the constant loss in power as its trying to correct this Stab in the dark to be honest
  15. Glad that other people do it too. I had to try that because i created about a 7ft bar and i was swinging on it which slipped a tooth haha!
  16. Well most things were off including radiator fans at that point so that will be it. There was no way i could get that bolt off without cracking it that way :)
  17. Well to get the crank pulley bolt off i had to use a long bar jammed tight to the ground and flick the ignition key once. Im pretty damn sure there is no fault now as its been a few months and nothing else is showing
  18. I dont get how an injector makes tapping noises? It has to be mechanical. By the way whats inside these heads? Roller rocker with hydraulic tappets?
  19. Im just thinking that alot was unplugged without the battery disconnected which the ecu would recognise as a fault. So i assumed that once put back together the light showed until next startup as it realised there was no fault. Same happened with the abs light when i had a wheel bearing changed says the garage who fitted it
  20. If there was a fault why wouldnt it light up?
  21. Just to clear this up the EML turned off the next morning. Car must have needed to reset itself maybe
  22. sounds good mate, what colour is your car? im thinking of getting a TTE bumper but not sure if it will make a big difference to as how my car looks. get pics up asap! :)
