  1. Hey everyone, the wife is interested in joining the Lexus revolution and as she just passed her test very recently she wants something small so we've been looking at the CT200h. I have searched for weeks to get a feel of the market etc and I have found that we are looking at around £8000 for a 2011 model. Then suddenly this appears.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-CT-200H-SE-L-PREMIER-CVT-5-DOOR-HATCHBACK-/141779516564?hash=item2102b7bc94 The car and the price just doesn't tally up at all with all the others I have seen. It seems to good to be true and the price is a good few thousand cheaper than what it should be? Would anyone be weary or does it all appear legit?? Cheers!
  2. You can't do a full postcode search. Only the first part then it will list all the streets etc in that postcode area and then you choose from the list the exact one you want. Not a very good search system actually.
  3. I would echo what the previous posters have said about the car. I constantly think about changing to a CT200h as I know deep down that the car would be much more sensible and better money wise and would be smaller around the narrow roads where I live etc. In fact many plus points to change.... but then..... I remember that I would probably miss the enormous power difference between the two cars. And that in a nutshell is that. GS450h is a very fine motor indeed.
  4. Another point worth noting is that I have learned that many of the "cheap" discs on ebay which in effect are copies do not contain any firmware upgrades and just update your maps so that's worth keeping in mind too.
  5. Yes when I bought it it had a 2008 disk in I believe and the features were blacked out. But someone on here said that later discs had a firmware upgrade which enabled the features on the move. So I got a 2011 disc and it all worked perfectly. Since upgraded to a 2015 disc and still works. In fact all you need to do is borrow a later disc and pop it in and it'll update your system to enable the functions on the move. Then you can pop in your old disc again and it'll all still work fine. I tried it.
  6. If it's anything like mine you just need to update the disc you have to a new one which then updates the firmware and you can then do it.
  7. So the longstanding issue of the tyre pressure warning on the dash telling me to check system has been sorted by Lexus. Wee fingers crossed this time anyway. Turns out it was indeed related to the installation of the rear DVD system I had installed by a car audio firm. Below is what Lexus wrote on the job note and it is quite worrying..... "Disconnected DVD system. Found live wire wrapped around a fuse and pushed into fuse board for boot release. System earth wire wrapped around a bolt. Advise wiring to be fitted correctly from a direct power supply". Oddly the boot release had no issue at all and worked fine, but somehow all of this affected the tyre pressure system somehow. So a fuse and the ECU were damaged due to this poor installation. Obviously cost recovery from the firm is the next step but just wanted to say case closed. Thanks for all help and advice and support over the last few months.
  8. Just had the car back now and paid my £808 for the new ECU and recoding of the 4 tyre valves. Guess what? Exactly the same warning lights on the dash. What exactly have they been doing with it? They must have checked this before signing it off as fixed surely.
  9. Hi all, Just an update to the long standing issue of the tyre pressure warning system light on the dash. Lexus have today announced that they have got to the bottom of it and it is ECU related. Cost = £900 odd. To say I am shocked would be an understatement. It is a 2009 car (so not old by any means) that had a full Lexus service history. I only bought it 18 months ago and have spent a total of £1779.56 on one thing and another for it. That figure does not include the most recent bill which I will be receiving tomorrow so getting on to 3 grand when that comes in. I never thought I would say this but my faith with Lexus and the whole brand and reliability is rock bottom. I bet if I bought an 15 year old Ford I wouldn't have had to fork out the kind of money that I have in the past 18 months or so. Disappointed.
  10. Many thanks for the replies. Very reassuring that it is probably something normal.
  11. Thanks for your reply. I can fairly confidently rule out screen wash because whatever Lexus put in there smelt like fairy liquid. This stuff had no colour or smell. If it is the air con, is it meant to drip water or condensation at all, or will this mean it is actually leaking the refridgerent from somewhere and it needs topping up and repairing?
  12. Hi guys, can anyone help with liquid dripping under the car? Car went into Lexus 2 weeks ago for a check up as I was driving to Italy. Got the all clear and all fluids were topped up etc. When I got to Calais on the way home yesterday my son dropped something on the floor as he got out which went under the car. When I knelt down to retrieve it I was quite alarmed to see very frequent dripping onto the floor and a wet patch. I checked the coolant and as that was red colour I knew it wasn't that. I had no warnings on the dash to tell me anything was low. It was a clear liquid like water and was dripping from various places. I wondered if it is maybe condensation from the air con or something harmless as car drives fine. I tried to take some photos as best I could but obviously without the car on the ramps or anything it was tricky to get under to take snaps. However if anyone has any ideas or can identify possible causes from the photos I could sure use some advice as Lexus only checked it all over a few weeks back. Cheers all!
  13. Yes but doesn't seem to do anything. tried holding it in or just pressing it quickly. Nothing
  14. Must admit that when they told me that they suspect all 4 had suddenly gone I began to smell a rat. Just doesn't sound plausible even though they said that it is fairly common. I am a car novice but it just seems to me to be more likely an electrical issue related to the DVD install which contradicts what Lexus say.... Thanks for your reply!
  15. In an nutshell I had a rear DVD system installed around 2 months ago. All went well but about 5 mins after I drove off and left the place I had the tyre pressure warning come up on the dash saying "Check system". Obviously I got out to check the tyres but all were fine so carried on driving home. As it happened so soon after having the rear DVD system put in I naturally assumed that the guy may have accidentally disturbed a wire or a fuse relating to the tyre pressure system. It stayed on for around 2 weeks then suddenly went off for a few days. I assumed the gremlin had righted itself. However it then returned and has been on ever since. However a trip to rectify the fault at Lexus today only complicated things further. They do not think the issues are related at all and say installing a rear DVD system is impossible to disturb the tyre pressure system. Furthermore they said that the car "wasn't communicating" (whatever that means). They say all other ECU's are working normally and the car is perfectly driveable apart from this annoying message saying check system. They want to strip down the system and they think all 4 pressure valves may have gone at a cost of £504 and want to book it back in. I know it's a long shot but before I part with half a grand just wondering if anyone out there has any suggestions that Lexus may have overlooked. Thanks all!
  16. But also it is still strange that the tyre pressure reset button appears to do nothing in my car......
  17. Ok I have spoken to Lexus on the phone about this. They think it could be related to the rear DVD system that I had installed last week as the tyre pressure fault has kind of coincided with them fitting it. Lexus say it sounds like it has perhaps confused the BCM and they want best part of £60 to put it on the diagnostic machine for starters. Unfortunately the firm that fitted the rear DVDs are from up North and I don't really want to go all the way up there if it is something simple. Plus it is not even guaranteed that it is related to the installation even though it is very coincidental. Advice very much appreciated. Thanks!
  18. Just tried to reset the tyre calibration thing as per the advice on here and also consulting the maual. Power on as instructed however nothing whatsoever happens when I press the tyre reset button. Held it in for ages and still nothing. Trip to Lexus it is I guess
  19. Many thanks for the advice. I will try the tyre reset switch and see if that cures the problem.
  20. So today I took the old GS450h for a long drive from south Wales to Manchester and back. Took in a mixture of roads including motorway, dual carriageways, towns. Delighted to find when I parked up on returning home that I achieved a very healthy 40mpg. I am mostly in low 30s. Also only used just about half a tank of petrol, Quite pleased to be honest. However..... on my journey home I had a warning appear on the dash. I pulled over and consulted the manual and it seems to be something to do with the tyre pressure monitoring system. As the manual just said to fix it as soon as possible and not to stop driving I carried on the trip home. All tyres are fine pressure wise so just wondering if anyone has any experience of this before I take it to Lexus and receive the usual extortionate bill. Many thanks!
  21. Hi thanks for the reply. Out of curiosity what did they charge you for your water pump and callipers?
  22. Can you explain what you mean when you say about the gasket and o rings £30 (Lexus only). does that mean I have to get them separately from Lexus? Confused
  23. So happily took the car in to Lexus for the service and MOT. Got the service plan and car felt fine so expected a very cheap day at the dealership sipping coffee all day. Not so. Front brake discs and pads need doing so I paid my £325, also a sidelight bulb was out which cost around £1.50 and £28 to fit it!! And the 2 yearly air con service with anti bac they recommend £90. So with the wallet feeling somewhat lighter than it was, I was hit with further bad news. Rear brake calliper seized - new one required, and leaking water pump - new one required. Total £560 more!! Anyway as they couldn't do these jobs there and then as the parts weren't in I am just wondering if you suggest just paying my £560 at Lexus and weeping or should I try to shop around independents to save a few quid? Always gone to Lexus for everything but at this rate they'll be bankrupting me!!! even if the coffee is good......... Car is only 5 years old with FLSH and I've only had it a twelve month. Already had £300 for a new battery plus all this. What's going on!
  24. Hi all. Looking for some advice really. As you can see I have unfortunately damaged the inside of the near side rear door. Lexus Cardiff doesn't do interior cosmetic repairs and Lexus Bristol say that they can have a try for around £250 but would probably still be quite visible. Either that or over £2k for a new panel! Give that a miss I think. Anyway just wondering if anyone knows any Lexus dealers who may have done similar repairs or even independent repairers that could have a look. I am from South Wales but am willing to travel if someone can give a good recommendation. All help appreciated!
  25. Thanks for the reply Graham. Your advice makes a lot of sense. Many thanks for your input.
