  1. On Mercedes the windows are re-initialised by moving the window all the way to the bottom holding the button only on the first click until all the way down but continue to hold the button for 10 secs, then move the window all the way closed and hold the button in for 10 secs again.. make sure you only use the button on the first click (manual adjustment). This sequence worked fine for my sunroof and now works perfectly! Give it try... for the sakes of 20 secs :) Cheers Ben
  2. Blimey 40mpg!!! I managed to get 32.4mpg going all the way to newquay! I was impressed at these figures let alone 40mpg! I travel to and from Reading from cheltenham once a week and the best i get is 28mpg.. But it is fairly hilly so I can understand that! 40mpg... wow fairplay! Cheers Ben
  3. Definitely sounds like air conditioning to me! Its just excess water where condensation has built up and is dripping out! When I used to work in a garage we used to get that question allot! Nothing to worry about what-so-ever! B) Cheers Ben
  4. Well after my squeaks and a couple of rattles which Ive had fixed, to my major oil leak which I've also had fixed, I now find myself needing a nearside rear wheel bearing! Groan... Lexus want just over £400 for parts and labour which i think is a little excessive and was wondering if I could get the part myself from somewhere other than lexus! They want £200(ish) for the bearing/hub assembly and if I can get it cheaper elsewhere then I'll be chuffed! Does anyone know of a place that could supply me one? Hope you can help Thanks Ben
  5. Well I took my car to Lexus of Stoke and good as Gold they gave me an IS250 F Sport for the day while they repaired it! It took them a little over 4 hours to complete the job but it's all fixed now so I'm happy! Cost me around £20 to get there and back and a night off of work but other than that it wasn't too bad! The oil leak is fixed, I drank all the tea I could drink. I got free orange juice a cereal bar AND a pot of jelly beans for my return journey haha my mpg seems to have gone up as well! I don't quite understand it, its risen on my weekly trip to reading at the same speed to 32.4mpg from 22.6mpg! so I haven't the foggiest what happened there! Cant complain though! All good! Thanks Lexus! B)
  6. Rang them today and they told me they had been in talks with lexus of Stoke and they will carry out the work but are waiting to hear back from them as to wether they will do it in Stoke or pay for Cheltenham to do it! So I'm happy with that! Just hope that they flatbed my car to Stoke if that's the case as don't want the excessive mileage on my car for their mistake! The teamleader reckons it's probably the rocker cover gasket that has been pinched causing the leak but can't be sure! Either way it's a fairly big job! Shall keep you posted on the progress! Cheers Ben
  7. No is the honest answer to that! If you've told lexus about it during a service before and they have said there's nothing obvious, then I would suggest its burning it. Surely they would have seen an oil leak of that magnitude while carrying out the service! Do you have oil stains where you park the car overnight? Or does it smoke whilst driving or on start-up? Is the coolant nice and clean and not thick and emulsified? I would take it back to them and say that you've looked at it 3 times now and yet its still doing it! To loose that amount of oil in 6k is definitely not right! Cheers Ben
  8. Unfortunately not! I have a private warantee so maybe that will cover it if the worse comes to worse! Rang lexus of cheltenham and they said they would ring me back in 10 - 15 mins... that was over half hour ago! Grrr!
  9. I've got the lexus fit ipod kit in my 450h, the ipod sits in the glove box and you control it via the cd changer. It comes up with the 6 discs as a normal cd changer, but each disc number (1-6) is your playlist's! it also gives you track listings for each track on your playlist and is fully controllable! Only downside is you can't access the track list while on the move as is blocked out! But it works well, needless to say you wont need a cd ever again :) Oh and it charges it too!! Cheers Ben
  10. Well I bought my 450h SE-L in december and have been enjoying it very much! I had noticed that if the heaters were on and car was left at idle for a long period, that I would get a very harsh smell of burning oil in the cabin! I looked under the bonnet and because of lexus' determination to no let anyone tinker, by placing plastic covers over just about everything, I could not see anything wrong! Anyway, I took my car for its service last friday and notified them of this burning smell so they could investigate the problem. I received a phone call from them telling me that i had a very severe oil leak from the engine somewhere but it was so bad that they cant tell where its coming from! He told me that he had checked the history of the car and the valve spring recall had been carried out in septemeber by Lexus of Stoke. He said they should have a 12month garantee on all work carried out! He then told me to find a 450h with that much oil on is very rare as they just don't leak oil whatsoever! So clearly they must ahve done something wrong when it had the recall! He said they he would ring stoke on monday (today) and let me know what they say! I'm still awaiting the phone call now, but im very sceptical about what stoke are going to say. I mean surely if they had any sense they would turn around and say that it could of happaned at any time, and its nothing to do with them! I'm a bit worried now! Especially as it could potentially be a headgasket failure if they have taken the cylinder heads off to replace the valve springs! I cant afford to have it fixed if stoke tell me where to go! :crybaby: Cheers Ben
  11. Well the dealership fitted the film in front of the sensor and they actually seem to sense rain now! Not tested them under proper rain yet, as it was only light drizzle and didn't last very long, but they worked as they should! So if you've ever had a windscreen fitted and are having troubles with the wipers not sensing then its likely that the windscreen fitter hasn't swapped the film over to the new screen causing your troubles! Hope that helps at all! Cheers Ben
  12. Bit far away from your mileage yet, but my 450h is going in for its 100k service at a cost of £450, which I thought was going to be allot worse! Absolutely lovely car! I used to work for Mercedes-Benz and from what I've driven, I prefer the lexus all day long! Gadgets upon gadgets, and best of all, unlike the german rivals, they all WORK!! :winky: Expect you've taken delivery of your car now so we hope you enjoy it :) Cheers Ben
  13. My GS450h is exactly the same! Wipers are completely useless on auto! I've got my car booked in for this Friday for a service and I happened to mention the wipers to them, he said that if the windscreen has been replaced at all in its history (I'm not sure if it has or not on mine), then there is a chance that the film that sits behind the screen in front of the sensor, that if not installed correctly or swapped from the old screen will cause the poor performance as noticed! So they are going to replace the film part for me :) Not sure on cost but apparently it's not a big job so I have my fingers crossed on this 1! I shall update next weekend if this cures the problem or not! Cheers Ben
  14. Just read this is from MARCH but nay mind!! That seems a bit extreme to need the shoes replacing at 30k! Unless someone has been driving it with the parking brake on or they haven't been adjusted properly when serviced! I'm not 100% sure but I should of thought the parking brake should be adjusted (via a slack adjuster somewhere) on some services! My GS450h seems all right but you do have to push it quite a long way for it to hold the car on a slope! It should be a matter of adjustment really! Cheers Ben
  15. Hi all, My first post on here so thought I would add it to the correct place :) Thought I would come and join (the forum at least for now) some like minded people on this owners club! Not read much on here but pretty much every car i've owned I've been on an owners club(except my fiesta ), so this is my latest :) Bought my 06 GS450h SE-L a little over 2 weeks ago now, Still don't think ive grown a custom to all the toys on it yet! I'm absolutely in love with it! Probably the best car i will ever own! I used to work as a spanner monkey at Mercedes-Benz a few years ago and ive driven the likes of S class', SL's,CL's ect and I still swear this is 1 of the nicest ive driven! Absolutely cracking bit of kit! Its done 97k with full lexus service history and I cant fault it! Only part im worried about is its due a service at 98600miles and I have a feeling its not going to be cheap! Ive never had a car stealer serviced before as working for 1 I couldnt see the point! I would like to keep this car with full history and tip top condition hence I would like to take it to lexus for dealer servicing! Does anyone know how much (Ball park figure) a 100k Service on a GS450h and what parts it includes, Being a fully qualified technician myself I can do the service myself but I want the stamp in the book :) Should there be any issues I should look out for with my pride any joy and any known problems with anything that i should be weary of? Any help much appreciated! Hope you lot can help a fellow lexus owner out :) Thanks Ben
