  1. Hi all, I'm considering taking the IS-F on the track. Mixed advice on upgrading the brake fluid - anyone done it or got feedback?
  2. IS-F has 225/40/19 on the front and 255/35/19 on the rear. I've tried all the usual suspects, blackcircle, mytyres, camskill etc Getting a second set of alloys would be an option but the IS-F has a fairly chunky set of stoppers on it so my concern with moving to an alternative wheel size is will they clear the brakes and will a different size screw up the handling etc.
  3. Because the IS-F doesn't have the same width\height profile on it's tyres front and rear and there doesn't appear to be any stock which fits both profiles.
  4. Yes the mixed Michelin option was the closest one I could find in the sizes the IS-F needs. Thought about putting different wheels on but my concern is as you've said they won't clear the Brembos - even with the 19"s on it's not eactly spacious in there.
  5. The issue gents is finding a full set that will fit the IS-F. Seems you can either get rear or fronts but I can't find anywhere which can offer the same tyre front and rear. I'm not a fan of running mixed tyres in dry weather let alone in the wet. Spoken to my local lexus dealer and they've said that they can't get a matched set - they could offer two tyres from Pirreli but they aren't the same tread pattern front and rear.
  6. Apparently Michelin do a set of their "Alpine" brand that will fit
  7. Anyone looked into winter tyres for the IS-F I've had a look but I can't see to find anywhere which does a matching tread pattern front to rear. In theory they exist but it seems harder in practice to actually find the tyres.
  8. Yes lots of artistic licence with that advert! nice to see that they hold up well in a crash but it'll cost a fortune to repair - the radar cruise module on it's own is something like 3k
  9. Nope they are just crazy expensive... But I want to maintain the warranty so none of the after market options are possible.
  10. IS-F in at Lexus Southampton today.... Needs pads all round... So thats a bill of just less than £900 for me then..
  11. Interesting but i'd be really surprised if this makes it into production with the IS being replaced soon.
  12. My Insurance (Direct Line) specifically excludes Nurburgring by name. Most UK insurances do too but do not make it as obvious as Direct Line, so you need to be wary about that.Otherwise - ISF. Enjoy! Yeah if it's not actually mentioned by name then you'll find it's classed as a "prepared course" and your insurance wont be valid. It's only classed as a Toll Road for German citizens not UK. It hasn't happened to me but a close friend had an accident and had to go through the whole painful process. So while you can claim third party cover, which they have to provide by law, you'll find there is a clause in your insurance which says that they can then claim any costs back from you which they are forced to legally cover but which they wouldn't cover normally. Basically what this means is if because the Germans (since a German court case in 2004) class it as a toll road they have to legally provide 3rd party cover. But as most UK insurers view it as a racetrack / prepared course then they wouldn't normally pay out so they will seek to recover the costs from you. There are a couple of insurance companies who do cover the Ring but it's a specialist policy.
  13. Don't believe it was ever made - more of a project by TRD
  14. I also looked at the typical alternatives and went for the IS-F.
  15. Demand for these cars isn't that high so discounts can be had if it's been sitting for a while. I'd aim to get at least 2k - 2.5k off those cars up for £37900 I was offered a 2011MY car with sub 1000 miles for £35k recently
  16. Yeah, got a good deal on the black one they had
  17. Well i'm picking it up from Lexus Cheltenham on Saturday - so fingers crossed and it'll be dry for my drive home :)
  18. Well finally took the plunge this week and stuck a deposit down on an IS-F - which for a long term BMW M3 owner was tough... Went for a 2008MY car in the end, while I could have bought a 2010MY car the only decent deals were on blue and white cars and I can't get on with the white leather - it's just not my thing. I think there are some lexus dealers with some slightly unrealistic ideas about what the later cars are worth - if it's not sold for 5 months then it's probably too expensive...
  19. Hey Tel, quick query for the 2011MY where does the button for the active cruise control move to?
  20. Wasn't the coloured interior an option only for the US market?
  21. Well I've test driven both a MY2008 and a MY2010 car - The biggest difference was on the test routes I got to use, the MY2010 car was all dual carriageway which was fine but didn't give me a great understanding of the car... The MY2008 car I got to drive some twisty roads as well as some fast sections and that really made me realise how great the handling is..
  22. Well i'll be buying in March \ early April so that should push the prices of MY10 cars down a bit..
  23. Blast another reason why I need a MY2010 car - guess ill have to find the additional 3k
