It also prevents the windows misting up.

Yes, this is correct. The passenger can exit as they are inside. The door should not open from outside. This is so that the passenger can get out of the car in an accident situation.

It really isn't that good in my opinion, the other thing going for the later TomTom's is the fact they have a very good speed camera alerting system that's as good as the Road Angel products
All cars has a really good speed camera alerting system. It's called a speedometer!

I'd take their legs off rather than their willies!

However she doesn’t like the lexus for a few reasons, one is the seats, bless her she is broader across the beam than me and she finds the seat bolsters uncomfortable and the fact that the cabin is a little cosier (in her words claustrophobic)Get her a gs, that should solve the problems.

Thanks farmersden, that's really useful.

Am intrigued about this, how does it work and what sort of things can I change?

Let's hope he doesn't buy an ES then.!

I agree. As you say it flexes and pops back. It should not show a dent with something as small as an acorn falling from 30-50 metres! A hailstorm would destroy most modern cars!

Looking at those rear seats I guess it's an ex taxi.
-
I'd more worried about the quality of the metalwork if an acorn can cause a dent. Hope you don't get hailstones where you live!
-
And don't forget the speed limit sign is a maximum not a challenge!

Should still be under warranty. Take it to a dealer.

According to the configuration thing on the website it's still available.

I wasn't too impressed with the ventilated seats on my old is much better on my gs. I think they were better if the ac was on cold.

For £18k, I would consider something like this:
https://usedcars.lexus.co.uk/en/used-lexus/Lexus/GS-300h/25-F-Sport-r1b2n84
The F Sport is second only to the Premier in spec, and the mileage is on the higher side, but I don't think it is that bad considering your budget.
I love the red interior available in the f sport. It also has the adaptive suspension of the premier.

What do you make of the boot?
Is it a struggle to get two large cases i.e. 23kg luggages?
Two large suitcases fit in fine. The high sill is the only issue.

Michelin Tyres will transform the ride and handling over standard Dunlops.
Which Michelin's? I currently have Dunlop sportmaxx which I've been happy with but if I can improve the ride even more I'd be interested.

What do you guys think of this one. its local to me:
https://hedgeend.usedcars.lexus.co.uk/en/used-lexus/Lexus/GS-300h/25-Premier-qxb3h39
Preface lift version but its Premier spec.
I have exactly the same but in Mesa red. Also bought mine from lexus hedge end. It's also a 2014 model but had 35000 miles on it when I bought it for a similar price maybe some negotiation room. Love mine. Highly recommended. Not sure what difference the facelift makes apart from the face! Premier spec is beautiful. Personally I'd go for higher spec rather than newer especially with a Lexus.

I've noticed on the dab radio screen a time shift icon. When I click on it nothing happens. Was hoping it would turn my car into a tardis!
Does anyone know what it's for?

The IS is a lot more compact. So it depends on how big you are and whether the rear seats get used. Also, the hybrid drive train in the IS is not a patch on the ES in terms of responsiveness. So you are in a bind there. I expect the mid lifecycle refresh of the ES will clean up the interior feel and infotainment back up with the germans.
As for "special".? Well, before the ES, I had the IS, before that, BMW E90, I had a E60 as well. Only the E90 felt special to drive. But you had to be in the mood. Beautiful on winding roads. Annoying in traffic. And nowhere near as comfortable. And sketchy in the wet.
Sorry misunderstanding. I've had an IS before. I would on replace my GS with an LS. Small case confusion!
My current GS is a mk 4 premier which feels special inside and is a joy to drive on motorways, windy roads and in traffic. Have driven mercedes, jaguars and volvos and none compare. Don't like bmws or audis so cannot think of a suitable replacement for my gs.

I was waiting for the es to arrive as a possible replacement for my gs but have decided to keep the gs. It's been interesting reading all the objective views above but it just didn't feel special in the way that the gs does. There are subjective things I don't like about the es such as the dashboard and information screen but more importantly to me are the quality of the materials in the es and lesser feeling of luxury compared to the gs that put me off. Looks like I'm stuck with the gs for quite a while longer as I cannot think of another car I would rather have on the market at the moment until used latest ls's come into my price range!

I don't understand your criticism of the lexus brand. Agree that cars from the factory of old had a problem but my latest GS from 2014 does not have the issues I had with my 2007 IS. Your problem seems to be with prestige wheels! I had my is wheels refurbished and had no problems after about 5 years.
