  1. thanks Biffo bear, sounds like you made a fair bit of the original cost back then which is great. definitely something for me to consider.
  2. Ok, that makes more sense - it was both up and down but I wasn't aware that if you selected 4th say and were driving as normal at lower speeds it was only limiting the automatic choosing to go up to 4th and no higher. When you say "use the paddles as normal", when would it allow you to do that if you are only able to set a limitation on the gears that the gearbox can choose from? Does anyone know which year they paddles became fully operational then on the automatics? Least I have a better understanding now of the paddles functionality! thanks
  3. I've got a 2005 (55) IS 250 auto and when I switch into semi automatic using the paddle shift gears doesn't actually seem to do anything other than change the number on my dash! Does anyone have this experience or know more?
  4. Biffobear, did you get much for the other 3 discs on eBay out of interest?
  5. Wozza - what year was your dealer referring to for the face lifted models?
  6. Hi Rikki, from the research I've done it appears that there are 3 options for upgrading your Sat Nav disc: eBay www.satnav-maps.com www.lexus-mapupdates.eu satnav-maps according to various reviews on google is someone selling copied discs so your maps will update but the functionality such as using the sat nav whilst driving won't update. Satnav maps costs about £40 and maupupdates.eu seems legit and is £150 I believe. Hope this helps? Anyone have answers to my questions?
  7. As your dealer has said, it will require 2 new keys, a key ID ECU and a Certification ECU and the dashboard needs to come out to do the job. How much would this cost Andy roughly out of interest?
  8. I've just bought a 55 plate and there was plenty bubbling and flaking on the alloys. I'm booked into a bodyshop next week to get them chemically stripped back to bare metal before spraying with etcher, primer, 3 coats of paint and top-coat as a previous member has mentioned - costing me £350 for the 4 so hoping that they'll really last!
  9. Also, I meant to ask has anyone ever bought from satnav-maps.com? any good? they are selling the upgrade 2011 DVD for only £40 which seems pretty good?
  10. Hi all, I've recently just bought my first Lexus (IS 250) and have been looking on the forum even before I bought it. I'm really pleased with it but it needs some love and I have a few questions which I haven't found the answer to using the search function. Rear tail light - the plastic casing is cracked, where is the best place to get a new casing and is it even possible? Front fog light - the plastic has steamed up with condensation, looks like I need a new front fog light unit, any ideas where to find the part number and best place to buy? I'm going to get it serviced and like to provide the oil - whats the best suggestion? I've seen 5W-30 mentioned, any particular brand? Thanks for all your help with this and I'm looking forward to browsing the forum. Cheers
  11. Just bought my first ever Lexus and did a quick search for owners club through google..... loving it so far!
