  1. An R reg red diesel corsa. With an instructor hanging out the window chainsmoking fags. Good days...
  2. Thanks for the tip- looked them up, will probably try them come tyre time. Mucho thankos!
  3. Quick update, if anyone is interested; received my new stubby antenna yesterday. Fitted fine, no issues there, looks ok as well. Reception is better in some places, worse in others; for example I now get the local radio station Lincs FM clear as day with no noticable dropout. BBC radio 1 is much the same as before, maybe slightly better, but I could pick up Capital FM before, whereas I can't now. So mixed results really, it's a good buy if there are local radio stations that you listen to but otherwise no better than the OE aerial.
  4. Yeah, I reckon I could. Regardless of any bad habits, when you need to it's easy enough to concentrate and do it correctly. I do have a few bad habits, like driving with my hand on the gearstick (I'm in an automatic now ffs) and fiddling with the radio while driving, but on the whole nothing that makes me unsafe enough to fail a test. And my reverse park and three point turns* are loads better than when I passed my test. plus, after years of reading the road and anticipating other road users it comes as second nature to me now. *yes, yes, I know... "turning in the road using forward and reverse gears"
  5. Ooh, shiny! :D Yeah they look pretty smart, definate thumbs up over your current ones
  6. You got any links to pictures at all? Am interested to see as I'm considering putting 18s on my Is200 and its hard to imagine how different rims will actually liok on the car
  7. Aha, thank you. I'd hoped it was going to be as simple as it looked for other cars, but you never know. And I didn't want to just go at it and break something important. Hopefully the handle will be as easy..
  8. Going to be replacing my tired handbrake gaiter and handle with new ones. Has anyone got any tips for taking them off? I've never needed to do this and I can't find any specific IS200 guides on here or the internet in general. If nothing I'll try and turn this into a 'how to' as long as I don't mess it up
  9. Hmm, for about £18 that's worth a look at least, and cheap enough to not matter if it doesn't work. Many thanks!
  10. Just picked up my new IS200 today, and amongst a couple of other bits I want to sort out on it, the radio reception is a bit dire. The radio picks up plenty of stations, but signal keeps dropping out on the move. I've had a look through some previous threads, and it seems that a Honda S2000 aerial (part no 39151-S2H-E01 A) with 3mm chopped off to make it fit flush is a good fix, though I'm finding it a little hard to source the genuine part and from what I've read aftermarket items don't work so well. Are there any other options out there?
  11. Just done a check on the DVLA site, road tax for upto 2005 IS200 model is £260 for 12 months , not £445, so that saved you £185 already :winky: Dammnit! I just bought a pre March 2001 registered IS200 specifically so the tax would be lower. Fail... major fail. :(
  12. Hi all I'm about to enter the exciting world of Lexus ownership, I just got back from leaving a deposit on a 99 reg IS200 SE Auto at a dealer in Sheffield; 75k on the clocks, and not bad nick for it's age (I wanted a pre March 01 model because of the road tax difference) I had a look on this here forum before I started shopping, the buyers guide and a couple of threads about the cam belt/tensioner issue came in very handy, and I shall be on here regularly no doubt. I've not had a proper search to see if there's any threads about them yet, but I'll be grateful if anyone knows of any major issues to look out for with the auto version, it's the first auto I've owned so I don't know very much about them. I had to get an auto because of losing a leg following a motorbike accident 2 years ago. So anyway, hello all, nice to meet you :)
