I dont know, why doesnt someone at Lexus GB have the nads to come on here and admit that they got it wrong. come on guys its a sign of strength not a weakness admitting you were wrong.

all the test engineers doing all those hundreds even thousands of test miles didnt pick this up before the IS200/300 went into full production. well its not the first time a small quality control issue has slipped through. but I have a feeling that our Japanese friends dont like to admit that they are wrong or ever be seen to lose face, I guess its a cultural thing ;)

I ended up going to a place near Northwood Tube station, Northwood Coach station, I got quotes from many other places but this one came out best in terms of price. they also did a great job

this has been going on for a few years now, surely its high time Lexus GB admitted its at fault and moves on. or are they waiting for the cars to get old and for the problem to just go away?

neverfelt need for a car till i moved out of london in my 30s

passed car test at 35 first car Toyota RAV4 to get used to driving cars for a few months

second car Lexus IS300 still got it

other than cars Ive hired here and there thats pretty much all ive driven car wise

my first set of tyres were destroyed by the lexus geometry, I got a replacement set by WIM in November 2004 and the geometry was set to Tony's specifications.

Result - thousands of miles driving with improved handling even tyre wear and peace of mind.

will have my IS350 soon..............

right hand drive one? where is that coming from if you dont mind me asking?

thanks, ive had it looked at now and it wont need a new front bumper after all just a new wing, phew!

well, I was down in Bristol today, left the IS300 parked and when I returned some clumsy person had pranged the nearside wing. It was probably someone who misjudged the parking manourvre. Anyway, I dont want to lose my no claims so im going to pay for this one myself and I needed a good body shop/repair shop that knows Lexus and will do a good job anywhere near Watford area/

Hello mate not good that at least they could of had the guts to say they did it and put number reg etc on ya car.

well i had a new bonnet sprayed and wing done at BROOKS and STRATTON just round the corner from LEXUS HATFIELD they use them for all lexus repairs and do a excellent job well recomended.( will also give you a little VW polo to run around in ).DO NOT go to PENNINGS they are total s***t and dont have a clue as to what colour ...paint... parts ...just totaly useless.!

cheers for that, Ill avoid Pennngs and get a quote from Brooks & Stratton - just out of interest how much did they charge for your work, I have a feeling I will need a new wing and possibly a front spoiler :(

it was done through insurance as other car hit me the wing was very minor..only scratch but had to be resprayed .....new bonnet ( sprayed ) looks brill done great job in matching it up. :winky:

And my car is the worst to match platinum ice.!

just ring them up and get a quote...

definitely notice the difference in my IS300 when PWR button on, very handy for a swift take off at a busy roundabout! :D

someone was trying to get at my rear number plate which is just fixed on with regular screws. anyone know if you can get more secure bolts or screws with caps on them, preferably coloured black as the holes for the plate are on the letters, cheers

keep the IS300 imho convertibles are massively overrated, theyre heavy noisy with the roof down and just how often can you have the roof down anyway in Britain? ;)

Russia is insane on the roads anyway. Youve got things like VIP cars driven by chauffeurs that just drive at insane speeds and then youve got a load of alcoholics who get smashed out of their brains on vodka on the roads every night

add to that intersections like these and I think that you can come to the conclusion that Russia isnt the safest place in the world to drive. But its a lot more fun than driving in England I can tell you that

I have to say 'quite right too'. Flashing red lights just don't stand out...

our British regulations are a bit of overkill to be honest, flashing amber lights all over the place and massive number plates that spoil the car's appearance imho

have done it in an is200 - ran a lead via a relay connected to the on ignition wire so it will only be live when the engine is running.

found a push fit socket and drilled a hole into one of the side panels - quite easy to do

as far as i know the sports cross comes with one

i wonder if the wiring might allready be there ??

there is a loose plug somewhere in the boot but i couldnt get any voltage out of it

I'll take a look down there, thanks for the info. I dont know why they didnt fit one in there in the first place, they are very useful specially when Im touring and taking photos.

I want to install a couple of cigar lighters in the boot of my IS300 for charging my camera flash batteries and stuff while Im travelling. Why the boot? well its just easier to put them back there so they dont clog up the inside of the car while im travelling. My other halfs RAV 4 has one already and 2 in the cabin which is very useful. I normally have the satnav plugged in the cabin and would find one or two more in the boot very useful.

Anyone done this yet, if so do you have pics?

thanks for the info, good to know others experiences. I will try to get as low a quote as poss and hope not too much needs to be done. As far as geometry is concerned Tony at Wheelsinmotion looks after my IS300 and he does a sterling job on that - if any of you need geometry from someone who knows better than the Lexus dealers I would get down to him.

Does anyone know if the inner tyre wear is a MOT failure or not? Or if the dealer spotted it are you allowed to drive off and have the tyre replaced elsewhere (in case if they are under any legal obligation to have you fix it before leaving)?

How much is a full geometry check and adjustment at STS Stapleton with wheelsinmotion? Do you have to book in advance or just show up?
