  1. Long and short of it I don't think Lexus have failed with any of there cars, I know there not the best in the looking cars but they more than make up in quality and comfort. I personally think they have exceeded in there design lately tho. I'm going to pick up messi's 430 up Tuesday so back in Lexus as to be honest I have missed mine. Going back to gearbox on x5 I spoke to a friend of mine who is mechanic at guy salmon Range Rover. He says change atf before 100.000mls as that's when you will normally get problems then change every 25.000mls and he says it should last a life time.
  2. Cheers Dan. Got it sorted now with Hastings But maybe getting another Lexus in near future so will give you ago. Thanks phil
  3. I know where your coming from, I've had a couple of jags with zf gearbox. Few years ago I took my stype to Chester gearbox centre as I heard about these gearboxes and they said should only worry if fluid is discoloured and smells burnt so don't try fix something that isn't broken. But I fully understand what your saying. To be honest the only prob I've had with a auto box was on a 430.
  4. I've known that happen to Lexus, jaguar, ect. It's only done 79000mls full bmw service history so hopefully shouldn't need for anything apart from the wear and tear stuff. Also I've been making sure no tow bar has been fitted as that puts me off. If your towing a caravan around every weekend I'm sure that wouldn't help the gearbox, or maybe I'm wrong
  5. Won't be used that much John so doesn't really bother me, plus unleaded at a Lowish price. Maybe not for long thou, just got back from Holland- Germany working about 60-70p a litre
  6. Hi all. Looking at buying a second car sorry but it's a BMW X5. Does anybody know of a reasonable insurance company, I've done go compare and cheapest is nearly £500 not impressed. My 430 is under £300 and my van is under £200. Cheers phil I've used Adrian flux in past and did a online quote with them yesterday but not heard a thing of them so please exclude them.
  7. I see Lexus chap bought it!!! Now up for £2750 on eBay. At least lexuschap has washed it looks more presentable
  8. Cheers guy's. So it's pretty much the as any other Lexus model. Regarding wheels seems Lexus never get it right on any model don't seem to last long before a refurb is req? But on my LS I just sold I got some refurb exchange for £280 so no prob there.
  9. Hi all. Any guidance on what to look out for on above. Had many LS's GS's and not been dissapointed, I'm looking at around the 03 year. Cheers phil
  10. It possibly is a good price, BUT if for eg air suspension is near its end would work out expensive car. Also if it needs a number of smaller jobs they all add up, so in my eyes I'd sooner pay £1000-£1500 more for a car that seller can assure me. Plus lower mileage, there's a nice one for £2700 a lot lower mileage. I've just been looking at rx's never had or drove one so can't really comment on one but seem to be reasonable priced I've had many gs's ls's aristo's. All been super so may give a rx a try.
  11. Hi. I've asked him lots of questions and he's replied to many but seems to hold back on some. I offered him £2200 which he would take, on closer inspection of photos I think it's been well battered the rear seats are really sunk down never seen that on one before even with higher mileage ect. He's describing it as prestine which it looks far far from prestine, he must not know the meaning of the word prestine so I'm not interested in it now as I think will get big probs with it.i think it's been neglected now it's later years. The price is right but I don't think the car is
  12. Hi all. Anybody in Surrey that could have a peep at a 430 for me. It's in mitcham. Or twickenham west london
  13. Believe me baz deals in selling cars. Most of his cars you can check back on and he's bought them at a lot lot less than he sells them. He does the same as Lexus chap. But good luck to him he's a nice fella and he's making a buck out of buying and selling a car.
  14. I know it's been covered I think anyway. Is there any charge for buying from Ireland and bringing to uk. IE if car is £3000 is that what you pay or do you have to pay transfer fees ect. Cheers phil
  15. There's a corker on eBay just come on a shade under £6500 56000mls looks as new. That won't be on for long.
