  1. The wheels on my 2001 LS430 were in a shocking state with the origionally paint none existent. I took the car to The Wheel Specialists in Leeds and they have referred them back to the origional factory colour. I can't believe the results and they now look like new. I was considering some new wheels but I am glad I have had the originals done instead.
  2. I hope to take a look at the weekend so I will let you know how I get on
  3. Who did you deal with? the £600 included 13 pin electrics but they were non Lexus I ended up buying the tow bar at a discount to fit myself and I will get an auto electrician to do the electrics. Should be about £480 when done
  4. I would ask about the pricing My dealer offered to fit a bar and electrics for a discounted price of £600
  5. Yes came with instructions but just diagrams and no words. It is un clear if you need to remove the bumper to fit the bar or just to make it easier to perform the cut. If its not needed to be removed to fit the bar I was planning on cutting the bumper while on the car. As for the electrics I was going to fit the bar and get an auto electrician to fit the electrics.
  6. Today I picked up a towbar to fit on my LS430 has anyone fitted one ? Do you have to take the rear bumper off to fit it?
  7. Took my LS430 for its first decent run to Surrey and back 430 mile round trip and returned 31.4 mpg so very happy for the size of the car. Plus with the comfort the journey was a pleasure to do.
  8. I have a 2001 LS430 that has 17" wheels from the factory so you should be ok to change from the 18" ones fitted
  9. I get 18 around town from my 2001 LS430 and 25 average with 50% town and 50% motorway havent taken it on a decent run yet to see what it does but will be doing a run next week.
  10. Ctek smart chargers are great and can be left on all the time. Just make sure you select the correct one for your battery capacity the 7000 model is the best I have used one for years and my father had one connected to his LS430 when he was not useing it as the battery would go flat due to the drain from the keyless entry system
  11. Thanks I will take a look. I have a branch in Salford so could spend the day there if it could be done in a day. Will give them a call.
  12. Yes it's my first Lexus the car was my late farthers. It was his pride and joy so I decided to keep it. I have had many toyota's in the past and run a landcruiser currently. Will take my time before rushing in to the LPG conversion as I don't want to spoil the car. I have a jeep offroader I will get converted first to check out the workmanship of the selected converter.
  13. Well I collected the car last Saturday and apart from being crap in the snow all I can say is the car is outstanding. The acceleration is unbelivable for such a large car and the ride is fantastic. Having been for its first visit to the pumps today the sooner I get it on LPG the better as I can see it doing some serious miles as I won't want to take anything else off the drive. I knew it would be a nice car but have been surprised just how nice it is. Just need some nice weather so I can spend some time cleaning it.
  14. Well I fetched the car and brought it home today. Bit of a white nuckle ride how bad are they in the snow. It must be the worst car I have ever driven in snow but at least I was comfy while panicking. Looking forward to a nice day so I can take it out and enjoy the ride but it will be staying in the drive untill the white stuff has gone. Hopefully giving a good clean tomorrow
  15. I am very soon going to be converting a LS430 to run on LPG i am getting conflicting info wether a Flashlube kit would be needed. if you have LPG fitted do you have flash lube? Many Thanks
  16. Hi I have recently found this forum and was wondering if you ever arange any gatheringsto meet other members ?
  17. I have just inherited a 2001 LS430 with 33k on the clock. The car was my fathers pride and joy. It has dealer service history but due to the mileage was only serviced every other year. The cam belt was done last year at 10 years old. Apart from a good service is there anything I should get done as the car has spent most of its life in his garage.
  18. Thanks for the welcome. I know a wheel specialist who will take care of the wheels and have used them before. As for the cam belt that was done last year as the dealer recomended it changing at 10 years. I have obtained a service history print out from the dealer so i know what everything that has been done to the car. As you say its not run in so should last well.
  19. Just thought I would put up my first post to say hello. My father passed away recently and left his LS430 parked in his garage the car was his pride and joy and gave him great pleasure every time he drove it. It is a 2001 car with 33k on the clock. When I got the car valued to sell it I was devastated to find out how little it was worth. So I have decided to keep the car and restore it. It has a few scuffs on the body work and the wheels need a referb as they are badly corroded. This is somthing we talked about getting sorted for him but like many things never got done. This forum looks a great source of information and I hope to be able to contribute as I progress with the car.
