  1. Yes - you have to modify the harness - I didn't cut anything, so i can reverse to the original state - just added one extra link, removed one pin from the plug and added a ground wire to other pin.
  2. There is a way to override this as well. I'm not watching on the go, but I don't like the restraints... But I'm glad I can browse my audio library (160GB HDD).
  3. The vais device has USB input - if you want you can plug iphone (2,3,4- with the old cable, 5- with lightning to USB) Ipod or flash drive. Try to find second hand.
  4. I wouldn't question one's thoughts, but it is not serious to buy a super quiet car with great stereo system (even the ones without ML are well above the average) and then play static and noise on it. I have tried several different solutions (all installed personally) and I can confirm that the access to the rear side of the audio system is a piece of cake and can easily be done by everyone.
  5. One more vote for VaisTech VML: here's a demo http://youtu.be/ITmZKiwS0VA http://youtu.be/ryNjcl8t-OE Together with the DVD in motion hack it made the perfect AV/navi system.
  6. I also did convert to folding key - post here: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/79044-key-conversion/?p=790461 shoot if you have questions?
  7. @Colin - i agree totaly with you. That's why i wrote firmware update, not just firmware.
  8. @Brian - next time i would set up a group buy - i need east, most of you need west, few of the other members would need central or north. The price would be around 35 pounds each. But as now i'm very happy with my E17.
  9. Dan, the disc you bought is a Genuine one! And as such contains the same data that the UK dealers are selling. Not every map update comes with firmware update. But i don't know why the title of the topic is cheap updates. You bought just one disc (west) for 71 GBP. The four discs set bought from Lexus directly (link in the first post) is 147 GBP. Plus you would receive booklet with manual. Most of those german sellers are buying the 4disc set, keep the Central (containing Germany) and sell the rest for more than the original purchase.
  10. Unfortunately not all LHD are the same either. The pics above are from the US specs. EU's LHD also don't have high voltage power outlet, nor the main switch for it. However everything else is identical.
  11. Sorry Dan - I wasn't clear - here you can see the position of the above mentioned items in a lefthand drive vehicles: What is hidden under the flip cover: The cupholder: Under the glovebox cover is the Main power door switch:
  12. Nope - the mirror adjustment buttons are bellow the beige cover. The black one under the vent is the cupholder.
  13. The thing under the vent is a retractable cupholder. The switch for the tailgate is under the glovebox door.
  14. If that was the reason - simple firmware update (similar to the one that comes with the maps update) would solve it. However there are Lexus hybrids with range data, as inaccurate as it is.
  15. Hi Petr, Welcome and enjoy the ride! I did some mods myself - LED DRL, headrest DVDs, LED interior lights, HDD/USB/Iphone integration kit (Vaistech MML), DVD in motion hack - so i'll try to help you - here are some links to the US forum (sorry - couldn't find the info here): 1. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/hybrid-technology/692423-dlr-led-for-2008-rx400h.html'>LED DRL 2. 16. It has nothing to do with the model of the vehicle - the limitations are from the iPhone - i did transfer all my contacts to the car's phone book, but not directly from the iPhone - how? see here: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/82604-how-to-transfer-tel-contact-nos-from-my-iphone/#entry823609
  17. Here you can see the OEM ipod/ iphone solution: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/80318-genuine-lexus-oem-ipodiphone-integration-kit/#entry800894 Hope you could find sometnig similar. Stonechpis are usual disregarding the make/model - the bigger the car - the easier are to get - I cure mine with touch up paint. I would be suspicious if i see an used car without them.
  18. When you can see the edge of the bumper, why would you want to adjust the red line.
  19. Can you post photos of the solution of the problem? I saw similar thread in the German forum: http://euro.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18684entry218187 but there the problem was in the boot storage - i did the same, but the creaking still persist, so i guess it is the sliding boot cover, because it disappears when retracted.
  20. There is a way around - you can send all your contacts to the car's phonebook, but... you cannot do it directly from iPhone. I did transfer all my 450+ contacts like that: Exported all contacts from iPhone 4 to Nokia 6210 Navigator and then all atonce to the car.
  21. Actually i didn't abuse it and i have the RX long enough to tell the difference. I'm talking through my own experience, do not care what your book says. I was given Q7 so many times as a courtesy car (my car spend a lot of time in the dealer's service station) - so it is a match to Lexus, but VolkswagEn is a bit far away. Mine was 2007 (it is not T2, but a facelift) with 3.0 V6 TDI engine. Replaced the air suspension couple of times, fuel pump, ECU, Navi, and some more electronics, several sensors... The list goes on - luckily almost half of them were replaced under warranty. The engine was fine, but the economy is worst than the 400h, 7mpg higher in the city, 5 - on country road and just about the same on a highway. Again i wish you better luck, but don't tell tales - you heard from the sales rep what you wanted to hear. Before that I had a Passat and was very happy with it, but VW no more!
  22. He didn't say it isn't good as Lexus, but i do. And also from the perspective of owning one, what a money pit!? Although on the same wheel base of Q7 and Cayenne (they are comparable with Lexus RX), it was nothing even close to them. The lower price there is for a reason. I ended up asking myself "if there's a life outside the garage". Hopefully you'll have more positive experience owning (and servicing) Touareg than mine, but if i were you i wouldn't give opinion based just on what i read on the reviews and forums.
  23. I had the whole rear bumper resprayed just because of this: Usually every seller is trying to polish their goods to sell it for more, but it doesn't mean that it's damaged. However i understand your concerns. It is good ideal to ask them for photos before the rework.
  24. I bought it from the states (on ebay) - and it was 150US$ (incl. the HDD) New is 250$ w/o the HDD It is sitting in the glovebox, and since I don't need the lighter - I've replaced it with USB socket (and that is the only sign anything is changed, nothing is to be seen inside the cabin). There is a way to add music to the HDD from the USB in the car, but i prefer to do it on the PC, that's why it sits in the glove compartment. Otherwise you can put it behind the audio system and fasten with velcro tapes.
  25. i did install this one: http://www.multimedialinq.com/vml.php i've got 160 GB HDD, on 4 partitions, reads MP3,WAV and FLAC files - three different types of playlists - by Album, by Artist and one that contains all songs on the partition. Supports USB and iDevices (regardless of the connector). Did also the hack with the DVD and music folders to be seen in motion.
