  1. The Logic 7 system is made by Lexicon, a premium division of Harman International (Harman is also the parent company of better-known brands like Harman Kardon, Infinity, JBL and Mark Levinson). So I wouldn't compare them, i'm happy with ML. What you call messing around is actually plug & play. But what I surely don't understand is how you can put in the same topic high end car audio systems and a cassette adapter?
  2. I have Vais Tech VML on mine, so i've never tried those adapters. I would advise to install a digital changer (it is connected to the original audio via harness to the back of the unit and emulates an external CD changer - the quality is much better than the adapters and transmitters), like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Digital-CD-Music-Changer-SD-MP3-for-03-05-Toyota-series-Camry-Corolla-RAV4-/190644732557?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item2c634fc28d Mine is with Mark Levinson audio, the sound system is superb, that's why i did install the VML - it displays the text on the nav screen and supports even loseless formats (.flac).
  3. Sad to hear that, although my car is exactly the same and no problems at all - still as I said: "I've tried the alloys before the purchase."
  4. Actually will reduce the mileage and increase the consumption, but that is just to clarify, what you meant. Otherwise I also agree with the suggestions so far.
  5. Had the same concerns - so i've tried the alloys before the purchase. If there is a problem you can always adjust the offset with spacers, like these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toyota-5mm-Wheel-Spacer-Shims-4-5-Stud-Spacer-x2-/190708002342?pt=UK_Cars_Parts_Vehicles_Wheels_tyre_Trims_Trims_ET&hash=item2c67152e26
  6. Great! Nice buy! (I got mine for £89+£19 shipping) Those £80 are actually the price difference of 4 pcs. 225/65/17 vs 235/55/18.That's why i told you: "for the same money i have two sets of wheels instead of just two sets of tires"
  7. Thanks! so just to be sure: these are IS200 alloys with 225/65/17 tyres on your lexus RX400h and such combination is even prescribed as an alternative in the owner's manual and therefore I could probably not even bother notifying them? Yes, these are IS200 alloys, and here are some shots from my owner's manual:
  8. Yes, you have to check the rim against the break mechanism - in my case it close, but still enough space. The new size of the tires is described in the owners book as an alternative and i'm very happy to inform you that we don't have to inform the insurance companies regarding things like that.
  9. The idea of narrow tires is they work better on snow (dig deeper). Also not to forget that the storage of the tires is best when inflated. Finally i think the RX will not look good with steel rims - not so many second hand off RX, but plenty from other makes/models on ebay.
  10. I bought these alloys from an IS and moved from the standard 18", to 17" but with higher and narrower tire - in the case of RX400h - it is 225/65/17. The 17" tires are cheaper than the 18", so for the same money i have two sets of wheels insted of just two sets of tires, which i have to replace every 6 months. But we have a real winter - Ice and snow and -20/-25 degrees C. Here's a pic of one of my winter wheels
  11. May be you should use the "engine" break - put the gear shift on "B" in combination with regular break and decent tires?
  12. I bought and installed this one: I bought it off ebay - they were sold out on their UK site: http://www.eonon.co....ayer/C1037.html More info here: Installation was very easy - i did it in 20 mins - you can read how to do it yourself here: http://www.clublexus...ll-writeup.html I'm really impressed with the quality for a no-name brand, i did compare them with Vizualogic and Audiovox. The only thing i don't like is with the wireless headphones - when the batteries are running out you cannot move your head without static and noise. New batteries - no problem at all.
  13. you can find all the bulbs in your car here: http://www.philips.c...ghts/14238/cat/
  14. If it is due to the chemicals used then you should take your claims not to Lexus, but to the authorities that allowed the use of those chemicals. If they cause corrosion on the alloys how do you know what else they are causing to your health?
  15. I noticed you are a "Non UK/Other" member, may I ask if salt is used on your roads in winter as this is a major contributor to wheel damage in the UK. Hi Steve, I'm currently in Bulgaria, but the first four winters the car was driven mostly in Slovenia and Austria. On all three places they are using salt, sand and chemicals (depending on the temperature and the icing). And all those countries have much more snow in the winter than UK (except some highlands).
  16. I doubt if the air filter comes in one with the oxygen sensor - the air filter is to be replaced every 10k miles, while the sensor only when it's faulty.
  17. Mine are 5 years old already and look like new - no special care, just when washing the car - once a month:
  18. I would advice to follow Gwin/LexusChester's advice - driving hybrid has nothing to do with driving other types of engines. You should learn "Pulse and Glide". My wife managed to increase the mileage of all cars we had so far for more than 20% compared to when I'm driving. The hybrid is the first she gets exactly the same as mine. She has a very light foot, but this doesn't help in this case. "Pulse and Glide" is not my cup of tea, after all the car is 2 tons, 3.3lt engine and 272hp - but compared to the RX330 - the consumption is much much better. You can read more here: http://www.metrompg.com/posts/pulse-and-glide.htm
  19. Hi all, it seems all the links are broken. Could someone upload it again or somewhere else. Thanks.
  20. I cannot help you regarding the prices in UK, but you should have the same tires on all 4 wheels. Do you have a spare? I've changed my Bridgestone Potenza's with 4 ContiSportContact 5, but my spare (as i never used it) is Potenza again.
  21. I did the "conversion" - i usually keep the key in my pocket and been stabbed quite often. There are several things you should know: - The blade is usually longer on those aftermarket key cases - so you should cut it short - otherwise the transponder of the immobilizer is too far and the car wont start - shortening the blade is not enough though - since the buttons are turned in 90 degrees (as in my case) or a bit further away - you should open the case and move the magnet (transponder) from the original key fob into the designated slot of the new key case.
  22. there are at least five different types on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.u...e bars&_sacat=0 Currently the same item as in your example is auctioned here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-RX400h-2005-ONWARDS-SIDE-STEPS-RUNNING-BOARDS-ALUMINIUM-STAINLESS-STEEL-/170915481868?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item27cb5b490c#ht_500wt_1203
