  1. Right, that makes sense. So when the middle pipe gets replaced and the silencer removed is that not classed as 'straight through'??
  2. Some great advice cheers guys..... Transporter you are prob right, what do I go in for - an a/c health check or something similar?
  3. I'll try to explain in my best technical way lol, from what I saw the standard exhaust has the front bit where it comes down from the manifold. Then it has like a silencer/muffler then a middle pipe connecting to the back box and tip. From what he told me he will remove the middle pipe and silencer just after the sensor and replace with a straight through pipe and a larger backbox and tip of my choice. Hope this makes some sort of sense
  4. Right, well settled for a power flow straight through ss exhaust today £240 all in. Chosen a tip with a muffle in it so it won't be too loud. Getting it fitted in the morning so looking forward to it. Thanks for the offer of coils but tbh I wouldn't really benefit from them :-) Was thinking of looking at air filter next. Do I just get a k&n filter or a k&n typhoon induction kit, or any other that anyone recommends? Or would a ruddy good service using higher spec parts be just as good? (although it only had one in dec) Sorry for all the questions
  5. how would I know if the Compressor is starting to seize, would it really cause power loss?
  6. Yeah it had a full a/c service at Lexus about 18 months ago?!?
  7. As the title suggests, I know that a car will generally loose around 10% of power with the a/c on, however when mine is on it seems to loose a lot more. Anyone else experience this, particularly with the IS300??
  8. I'm quite tempted with an exhaust, but I don't want a loud boy racer one. If was to just get a decent back box would I get the sound I'm looking for? Just want to hear the engine through the exhaust a bit more?!?!?
  9. I have about £1k burning a hole in my pocket. Thinking about doing some stuff to my IS300, but don't know what :-/ A bit of background - I have a 2003 IS300 with 104k on the clock, full Lexus service, Cambelt done at 67,000 and she is a peach. The only mods I have done so far are LED sidelights and number plates, 4 wheel refurb - finished in smoked/black/chrome, red painted calipers, grom audio with BT. Also treated the leather several times and got a touch up pen (only £9 all in at Lexus dealer!) but that's about it. Oh and just put a private reg on it and spent about £100 on cleaning stuff lol! Soooo..... What now??? Would love a nice back box that will show off the puuuurrrr of the straight six a bit more or do I just have lots of little bits like iridium plugs etc etc..... Help????????? Ps, replies with prices would be good :-)
  10. Just wanted everyone's thoughts... Is it me or is the IS quite twitchy in the wet? I can only vouch for my IS300, but when I was coming onto the motorway today from a slip road off a roundabout I put my foot down a bit to build up some speed and the back end came out really easy before the traction control and all the other gizmos pulled it all back in line. Now, I don't think it's my style of driving. I would say its spirited but defo not pedal-to-the-metal. Im wondering if it is the tyres on the car, when I bought it, it had just had 4 brand new ones put on, these were only budget tyres though, thinking of changing em though as this has happened a couple of times. So... Does anyone else manage to unintentionally get their back end out in the wet, or is it just my crap tyres?????
  11. I'll get a pic up tomorrow, how do these slip on tips fit exactly.... Saw one on a Beemer today and it was sticking out about a foot, looked ridiculous?!
  12. Sorry to bring up an old(ish) thread, but where abouts is the throttle body and what do you use to clean it?
  13. The end of the exhaust on my IS is looking rather manky. Is there any way I can do one (or all) of the following: 1) clean it up and get the shine back 2) replace the WHOLE tip after the backbox with a stainless one? 3) get a slip-on chrome effect one to slip over the one already there ??????????????? Does anyone know prices etc? And would option 2 need welding on? Cheers
  14. Just want to bump this if anyone an help? Am I able to post images from my iPad or iPhone onto a thread? Its not letting me choose a file for attachments etc when writing a reply and I can't add any photos to the gallery? Anyone?...
  15. I've now installed my Grom kit and I'm really pleased with it. Very easy to install and there is enough room behind the factory stereo to place the grom unit and all the wires. Had a bit of a panic when the Bluetooth wouldn't connect with my iPhone 4s, however a quick google search and a firmware update was all that was needed. Cannot fault the system, Bluetooth connects first time eveytime and is on a par with my previous parrot kits. I don't have to wait for the ignition or anything. So happy I spend £100 on this instead if the equivalent parrot :-)
  16. Well, as the title suggests I've got a very random knocking noise. It's not a big thud it's like a faint rattle but not all the time. At first I thought it was my keys jingling about but I irradiated tht theory. It seems to be coming from front drivers side it slightly knocks when turning left or going on some rough b road. But like I say it's not all the time, it's irritating me more than worrying me but if something needs to be replaced would rather do it sooner than later. It's a 2003 IS300 with 100k on the clock. Don't think it is an interior panel or anything because it's almost as tight as the day it left the factory, no joke! Any advice guys....???
  17. Ok so decided to buy the grom with the aux in and also the Bluetooth adapter. I couldn't justify spending an extra 20 odd quid for an iPod integration cable. Generally, once I'm listening to an album/playlist I don't change it until its finished. Also I already have a USB charge thingy in the 12v socket to charge iPod :-) Just waiting for delivery now, bl00dy bank hols lol! Fingers crossed it'll be an easy install. One more question, how do you know when the Bluetooth is paired to your phone? Does it make a beep noise like in a parrot when it connects?
  18. Ok guys, so the dilemma, have been reading up on the grom audio kit (with Bluetooth) on here and it looks like a great piece of kit. If it was your £150 odd what would you get the grom or the parrot 9200i?? I have no experience with the grom (but have seen the installation guide on here), where I've had parrot kits before and think they work very well :-/ Would I need an additional sot lead for whichever I choose? Any advice appreciated....
  19. Hi Apologies if this has been asked before, but am I able to upload photos on a thread/post from my iPhone using mobile site? If so, how? Cheers
  20. As the title suggests.... How do I get my leather looking good again? It's in very good condition, no wear what-so-ever but looks a bit faded? Cheers guys
  21. Great stuff. How many coats and how long does it take to dry out? Also which they of Hammerite do I need? Sorry for all the questions :-)
  22. Hi guys. Need to clean and paint my wheel hubs or bells, whatever they are called as they are rusty as hell and let the car down. Anyone know of anywhere that does them in the Derby area? Can I just take it to an alloy wheel refurb place?
  23. Thanks for the reply. Any recommendations as to best bulbs?
