  1. Thanks. Had a look at that earlier, it didn't seem to help, possibly because it's LHD. MrsIA2 thinks there's no port which is why a (real life) pic/diagram would help
  2. Having just bought a solar trickler with an OBD connection we can't find the port. My wife has been looking trying to save my arthritic back more pain, alas she says it's not where I thought it was. Namely D/S under dash. Does anyone have a diagram or a pic showing the precise location? Many thanks.
  3. Checked this out a bit more. Really does look good. Mine will arrive Monday! Thanks again.
  4. That looks really handy. I think i might get one (or two!) Easier than faffing about with tricklers. Thanks.
  5. Well we rarely leave any car for more than a week, so that's helpful, thanks. We trickle via outdoor power points. 12 weeks is impressive. I did look at solar chargers a few years ago, but couldn't find any that seemed suitable. What's your like?
  6. As I said a few posts above, we're used to having cars on trickle chargers. Would that not resolve this issue, or have I missed something?
  7. Nice of you to say so, I suppose I know a little about MB, at least up until they stopped making cars and concentrated solely on manufacturing money. Aside from that, I have to say I found some of the (frankly ignorant) blowhards a little too rich for my digestion. This is a much more civilised forum. Mind you, I suppose if there was a forum devoted to when MB made cars, say up until 1998, then that could be fun. My G is 1991 and doesn't look a day older than.......... If I ever win the lotto I'll be buying one of these:
  8. Thanks, I am deeply suspicious of air suspension. I shall plow on, I suspect a 350 is the more practical solution, whilst the 400 will probably be the available solution. Thanks everybody for all the useful help/pointers. Here's a pic of my much missed Mr Toad mobile 🙂
  9. Had a 300 before, MrsIA2 (and me) found it a bit slack in the bhp department. Does the 40o SE-L have air suspension, I thought not.
  10. We already keep our wagons pretty much permanently on trickle, so nothing new there; but you reckon the mileage, low as it is, should probably be ok. That's good to know, thanks.
  11. As Mrs Beeton instructed, first catch your car....🙂 It might be that our mileage precludes a hybrid, in which case I'll be refocussing on a 350. there are n:-(ot that many for sale, and those that are seem to be miles away. I don't travel like I used to.....:-(

  13. Trips over the last few years tend to be a regular weekly 25 mile round trip, a few shorter, and the (very) occasional round trips of about 60 miles. Would that be enough for the hybrid, do you think? I hardly drive at all these days by virtue of assorted disabilities, otherwise I would still be impersonating Mr Toad in my (now gone) SL60. I still have G Wagon, but that's going too as I can hardly get into it without a step ladder 😞
  14. Ah, ok, I thought Lexus sold some sort of hybrid battery warranty/insurance. Did I get that wrong?
  15. As above. Having finally decided not to buy a fairly new hybrid, (can't really justify it for around 2,500 miles pa) and having pretty much given up the local (ish) search for that hen's tooth, aka an Rx350, my thoughts are turning to a 400h. All my research says that a carefully chosen example with battery insurance should be ok. That said, I'm a hybrid virgin and am just a wee bit nervous about the unknown. Thoughts gratefully received. Thanks
  16. You could try blowing air down the tubes. I did, didn't work and I got my local garage to do it for me, never asked how. Probably wouldn't use a coat hanger. A few how to vids on youtube iirc. Iirc it's in the side of the d/s footwell. It's a few years since I did mine. I used a paperclip with insulated pliers. Try messing with the fuel cap, you may be surprised.
  17. Re 1 & 4: 1. I had water problem in my 430, garage cleared the drain pipe and all was good. 2. EML can be reset, but can also be caused by loose/ill fitting/worn seal petrol cap. To reset short pins 4 & 13 to clear. Hth. Ian
  18. I had belt and pump done a couple of years ago. I think it was around £350 (not at main dealer). I've misplaced some of my receipts so I can't confirm that at the moment.
  19. Thanks Steve I booked it in yesterday at the Toyota dealer. Seemed the best idea. I'd been hesitant going to them given my experiences/knowledge of certain other main dealers. I nearly fell over when they gave the price for a "silver service", a good two hundred quid less than the place I used to go to. Bodes well as I'm thinking of buying a year old Rav4 Excel AWD from them. I'd actually prefer an Rx450h but the Lexus dealer is an hour away, but that's an hour on the A14 which must be the worst road in the UK....
  20. Agreed, I think Balmaha would be impossible these days. An old school friend from Rowardennan (where another old school friend's father murdered wife 😞) has built a pub and other stuff in the village. I lived in Bath for a while so I know a thing or two about tourists 🙂 Currently in the middle of a field. Not even cows to disturb us, Brexit will decide it for us.
