  1. Hi, As above really....and no it is not for my indicators. I have tried everything and it doesnt turn on, flash or do anything and it is really bugging me. What is it? Thanks, Tom .................unless it is just a pointless orange reflector...............
  2. Hi, I have purchased an ISF rep grill and didnt notice the ad says for 06 to 08 cars. I have since been made aware that the IS 2nd gen went through 3 face lifts each with a different size bumper etc. The US guys say it wont fit but offering what I have up to the existing grill, it looks like it could but looks can be deceiving. Can anyone confirm? If it doesnt fit, does somone have a link/part number for an ISF style grill to fit my 09 facelifted 220? This is what I have: Thanks again: Tom
  3. Thanks Normski - I have checked and I dont have DRL. Also, no seller or no amount of googling has been fruitful so I dont think you can you add this feature via some kind of light module. Speaking to the guys in the US, if you do have DRL and change them to LED, then you do loose the full beam feature so I guess for them it is cosmetics over function.
  4. I was also going to say Sewells but I think they are quite expensive for what they are. I have also seen them from ebay by a Japanese seller and they were around £150 ish delivered to the UK. They are listed as genuine and they do "look" the same as the OEM ones so hopefully they are. Maybe Lexus Poole could get a good price on them?
  5. Hi Tango, Thanks for the reply! I have noticed quite a few optional extras which I wouldnt mind having such as the automated window blind. Not sure what you mean by "vented" seats though - is it the heated seats which also can do cold bottoms? or something different? When you say the passenger side has a plug but a wire missing, is it a ground wire or a live wire? Would you be able to send me a link to your walk through with pics so I can take a look? I want to try this out and Im not adverse to retro fitting, but based on this being the best car I have owned so far, I dont want to "bodge" anything as it isnt a Rover or turdy 13 year old A3! Sorry for all the questions.
  6. Hi, What constitutes the "sport" option or "luxury pack"? I know that there is the F sport for the petrol and diesel but I want to add the illuminated Lexus sill that the US guys have and I believe that having one of the levels of trim would mean that you have the connector pre-installed in the car - which makes fitting/wiring it up much easier (sods law it will be a regional thing). I have a facelifted 2009 IS 220D SE-I so how do I work out if there is a sport or luxury pack fitted? (to be fair, I dont think I have the sport pack based on how high the car sits as standard), I can of course just pull the sill up and see if the connector is there (which I will do either tonight or on the weekend) but would still be intrigued to find out whether I have either pack and what they actually entail. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Tom
  7. Thanks for the replies! I havent tried them on dip as I expected the lights to just be on when I had the ignition on. Will try this when I leave from work at 5:30 to see if I have this feature but if memory serves me right....I dont. I have my lights set to "auto" and have never seen the main beam on at low power.l The kits that I have come across, mainly from the CL forums on Vleds and also the kits I have seen from eBay require the feature already available so if anyone stumble on a kit that will ADD this feature, please post a link here :-)
  8. Hi, I believe that the US cars have a DRL feature where the full beam is always on at 30%. Is there an "add-on" or some kind of module which I can fit which can do this? Or even better, can I take my car down to a dealer to activate this? Thanks! Tom
  9. Thanks, maybe it is because of the 6 LEDs that you mentioned which is why I think it seems blurry. I think the "lexus" lights you can get for any car have fewer LEDs in a cluster which is why I guessi find it easier to tell. Anyway, thanks for helping!
  10. Hi, Can someone tell me if my rear lights are LED lights or not? they look like they could be when they are on, but compared the aftermarket "lexus" lights that you can buy for any car, the LED's seem "blurry" and so I just want to be sure. They came standard on the car and not an aftermarket upgrade: Oh, and please ignore the Tom's badge as it was a silly impulse buy but very fitting for me. Thanks, Tom
  11. It seems I was mistaken. The A2DP is only available on 2010 models upwards. Sorry I have a 59 plate 220d with everything but sat nav and the bluetooth does indeed stream ALL my iphone4s audio through A2DP even my button clicks. This also means that for the music videos I downloaded off youtube are playable through the bluetooth connection. This does not effect phone funtionality and steering wheel controls as it all works perfectly. If you synch your phone to the car just for calls, this wont do it. I cant remember what the exact setting was, but there is another setting you need to enable.....there arent that many, just need 5 minutes of fiddling. Only issue I have now is transferrring phone contacts to the car and being able to use the voice activation button on the steering....still not worked that one out yet despite going through every menu available!! HTH, Tom
  12. Thanks, Sorry should have pointed out that in the US there seems to be a discreprency in what they call paint code 212 (they have it as Obsidian Black also with code 212) and US forum members elsewhere have confirmed that although the names are different, it is the same thing. In the UK, Velvet Black and Obsidian are indeed different with different codes.
  13. Turns out after more searching and other forums, they are the same colour. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-second-generation/673001-is-velvet-black-the-same-as-obsidian-black.html
  14. As above really as both they both have the paint code 212 and I want to make sure I get the right code for paint. Thanks! Tom
  15. Hi, Does anyone know where I can get wind deflectors that tuck into the door frame from? All the ones that I have seen on ebay stick to the outside of the car via 3m tape and I think it looks horrible, especially on the back doors and I would prefer a cleaner/smoother look.; I have also asked a few sellers on ebay and no joy but have noticed a few car pics on the forum with what appears to be the ones that I am after. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Tom
  16. I have managed to find 2 different piggy back units for the 220d but not many reviews etc on how well they work and engine longevity. Ventura: http://prolex-uk.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=595_168_215&products_id=1336 Chip Express: http://www.chipexpress.com/products/1095/ I am more inclined to go with the Ventura box due to the limited reviews I have read on dutch sites and the fact Prolex appear to be a Jap tuning/modification specialist. Also, I only stumbled across the company and device when I was looking for some Tom's tuning parts for the car and based on the range/makes of the parts available on their site, I made a blanket judgment and decided they were better :-) If you happen to buy one of these or find a decent review on either box, please post as I would be intrigued to find out more. Thanks Tom
  17. Hi, Coming from the 1.4 K series in MGR cars, then having a 1.6, a 1.8 then finally the 1.8VVC, an Audi A3 1.8T Sport and a 61 plate Seat Exeo 2.0TDI, I can only describe the 220d as a diesel car which requires a NASP driving technique. The K series is a VERY clakky injectors and ALL K series cars I have seen all had the same issue regardless of engine age/rebuild. Also, Rovers and Freelander arent great build quality and the metal, plastic trim etc just seems cheap and thin. The Lexus is MUCH quieter! When compared the to Seat 2.0TDI (same engine used in the VAG group cars), it definitely does not want to go or move as much (or at all) just by being in the gear you would normally be in i.e 4th gear at 30mph. To over come this, I have had to adjust the way I drive and now, when in town and below 45 ish, I will go no higher than 3rd gear inorder to maintain power and mpg. Sticking to this makes the car MUCH more driveable and you can indeed feel the torque that is available. The engine on the Seat is quite loud inside the car, so although people complain that the 220d can be loud in the cold and the heaters are on, the noise refinement better than the Seat. When compared to the Audi 1.8T, again the pick up is slower, but due to the power available, the Lexus is a much more fun car to drive especially when the turbo kicks in. Compared to the 1.8VVC Rover, there was not much of a response when you put you foot down but after a second, you can feel the power swell and you start shifting. Like the VVC unit, you have to keep it in the power band, pretend you have 1 less gear than you actually do and your "laughing" as they say. This is where my comparison for driving it like a nasp comes in. I would have compared it to the standard 18 block but these are much smoother than the VVC in power delivery. In regards to comfort, refinement etc the Lexus wins hands down especially with all the toys that it comes with, however, I can not comment at all on long term ownership as I have only had it for 3 weeks. When buying the 220d, I too looked at Mercedes C220, Audi A4 and BMW 3 and 5 series but over all when you weigh up looks, toys, and the fact that every other nobber on the road is in a German mobile, the Lexus is a more attractive option. Since I have purchased it, I have had no regrets but would suggest. The ONLY thing that bugs me on the lists that people post up is the crack from the center console - well more surprises me but with the music on, you dont notice it. Hope that helps, Tom
  18. Hi Steve, Thanks for the reply. When you say "If it is avaiable for the IS250 then it will work for the IS220d", does that mean the 250 and the 220d both have the same gear box? I am not looking neccessarily for a "quicker" gear change as someone racing would want, just a more postive feeling gear change with a shorter, more sturdy throw. I have had quick shifts fitted on all my previous cars and I thick I have become accustomed to short throws and more sturdy changes. Thanks again, Tom
  19. Hi, Was wondering whether there was one available specifically for the diesel car? I know there is the 220d F Sport but I dont know whether this has a quick shift as standard nor where to purchase one if possible. Also, I have seen one on the Lexus Sewell website but that is for the IS 250 F only. Any help i.e. links/pics/fitting instructions would be appreciated! Thanks! Tom
