Just thought I'd share my initial impressions of my IS250 after getting it just over a week ago. The car is running great, much more responsive in the bends than I expected from the test drive. The service from leicester who supplied and Cardiff who are local has been a bit hit and miss. The car arrived with a cracked screen, hissing on the audio possibly from dab install, steering wheel at 1o'clock, rocking drivers seat, and a few prep issues like needing a proper clean and some scratches needing a polish out. Cardiff collected my car last Friday but due to a mix up didn't bring me a car so having seen the issues in person they returned it on the day with no fuel left in it. I've been ringing lee in Cardiff yesterday twice and today twice but zero call backs and he's never at his desk... I'm keeping positive about that though and feel confident all will be sorted out. Can't get over the quality of the audio, even with the hiss. On dab, cd, DVD, hdd or USB its jaw dropping! I use Levinson kit at home so had high expectations but to achieve that level of performance in a car is extraordinary. The quality feel of everything is also great, the door thud, soft plastics and leather quality are all excellent. The car is pretty fast too and returning a health 29mpg all around town. I do have a few more Qs though lol. The centre console seems a little creaky when leaning on it. How's everyone else's? And the footwell light on the drivers side is directly above the brake while the passenger is in the inner corner under the centre console. Seems a bit weird to have them lob sided...? Overall happy and will be hopefully very very happy once the niggles are sorted :) Cheers, Pete.

I don't have the gracenote either. The disc just loads and plays. I'll take a few pics or video of me loading a disc tomorrow. Thanks for checking for me, I'm not sure why it's not working. Can I safely assume m car actually has the hdd? I thought it came in when the dab was available (which is fitted and working)

True, spoke to jeff at Leicester today and I do feel assured it'll all be sorted. Meanwhile, I believe I have the hdd Nav system installed as its go the dab module etc, but there is no rec button on the cd I've put in and the hdd tab on the audio menu is greyed out. Am I being thick? The manual said if you have the DVD changer you have it, and my unit definitely plays DVD and is a 6 in dash, but the menu doesnt seem so offer any solutions. I'll try another disc in case it's got PC data on it, but I'm not sure what else to try?

Thanks guys, I've just got off the phone to them, and expss my opinion politely but firmly. It needs to be sorted out etc. My local garage is Cardiff so they are going to pick it up next Friday to have a look, and I told them I expect a car in the meantime. The newer version of the Levinson and nav seems different to the old one in terms of functionality and adjustment. I'm sure the old one let me adjust the sub level and stuff like that but this one just has bass mid treble. Or maybe that was in my old Jag I can't remember really well I'm getting sooo oooold haha.

Morning. My car arrived yesterday and overall I'm really pleased with it. However there are a couple of things that the dealer is going to take the car back for. It arrived with a chip in the windscreen, and there is a small scratch on the boot lip, so they will sort them out I'm sure, More concerning though is the sound system. The car has the Levinson premium surround unit, and has had a DAB module fitted previously. The problem is when I seem to have a very noticeable background hiss through the speakers. Its like a radio which is tuned into nothing. It's constant no matter what input you use or volume, or if it's muted etc, it's always there. My previous IS had the Levinson kit and I'm sure I recall it being silent, but can you guys please confirm what your background levels are in case I get push back along the lines of "that's normal" etc... Thanks pete. Heres some pics by the way.

sometimes i think why buy a high performance car and drive it with a light foot to get 60mpg?? everything about the car was designed to make it handle on the limit and fast. fast = high fuel consumption. A CT200h will give you the 60mpg and I bet you if you buy the S4 and do the lpg conversion you will not be driving the car to get 60mpg trust me. from the exhaust note to the engine note will urge you to put your foot down evertime .. its a 340bhp car so you will not be pampering this car for 60mpg otherwise there wont be a point having it in the first place. I agree there. I've had a few M3s and an S Type R and tested a 4.2 S4 a while back but each time I come back to the car being 7/10 in all areas and costing a fortune. I now have an IS250 (due on Wednesday) for everyday comfort, a VX220 for weekends, track days and European blasts, and a Corrado VR6 which will be sold in due course. The running costs for those are much less than a late S4, M3 , XFR or AMG and I think each one does its secific job 9/10 or better. Also each makes the other feel more special oddly. Long drives in the VX make you appreciate how raw and fun it is, but then hop into the VW and it's like a little S Class.

H guys this is my first post and will be my second IS, first was a 06 220d which I really like but I have put a deposit on a 59 plate 250 SEL which I hope to have by next weekend. Looking at it compared to my 220d this one has the facelift styling with the wing mirror repeaters. Noticed that the radio (Levinson) has a DAB button, do the facelift cars have an audio update etc? cheers, Pete.
