Morning all, just to let you know I spoke to Darryl at Cardiff this morning and said I'd like to get my money back for the IS and take stock. I would definitely consider buying from Lexus and Sytner again, but it looks like me and the IS were never meant to be. I think I'll have a look at the GS as I really didn't like the cvt box on the CT loan car, as well as the Toyota GT86. Thanks for the advice on this nightmare guys it's been really useful.

Well the car is coming back on Wednesday but to be honest I don't know what to do. Lee in Cardiff has been great in fairness, and has told me that everything is sorted bar one thing... The radio hiss is down to the DAB module, unplug it and the noise goes away. They tried it into a CT and it's fine (so the module isn't faulty), and have also tried it in another IS and it's hissing too (so the head unit isn't faulty either). So it's the combination of the IS head unit with DAB that causes the problem. Thing is, the radio and DAB was a major factor in choosing the car, and I can't live with the hiss so my choices are to put cotton will in my ears or lose the DAB. Assuming everything else is spot on, I'm still not sure whether to keep the car or look elsewhere. Any advice? Cheers, Pete.

Haha thanks. I really like it. Comparing it to some real carbon fibre speakers I have, the finish is very close, but doesn't have the gloss that comes from a clear coat. I did try spraying a yes piece with lacquer but it just turned it black and lost its pattern. It looks like race car carbon, which is flat too. I was at the Geneva motorshow on Friday and probably 30%+ of the cars there were wrapped!

I did the dash plates on my VX220 yesterday in the 4d stuff, really pleased with the way they turned out. Video...

I had the same descriptive issues with Leicester. I think obviously there is no substitute for going over a car with a tooth comb, but thats why I bought from a dealer, for the transparency and trust etc. It's very disappointing when you buy from the main dealer and feel that you have been taken in like a private or trader might. In fairness I h ave no issue with cardiff in terms of results yet as my car is still in with them, they have done almost everything they told me except the audio hiss which I suspected might take some head scratching... My plan is to give them the chance of sorting everything to the standard the car was described and if it's not I'll insist on my money back and I'll buy something else!

In fairness my old 07 220d was too, it was fabulously quiet. I thought initially it could have been due to the 18s rather than the old 16s my old car used, but if your running the same then it can't be. Every ripple in the road is accompanied by a click, tick, buzz, rattle, squeak etc from either the centre console or what seem to be the doors.

Hi guys just a quick update on my toils. After a long chat with Richard at Leicester last friday he said they would change my windscreen and get the car in as arranged with Cardiff on tuesday. I phoned Cardiff on the morning to see what time they were collecting, but I was told the screen hadn't arrived. Personally I don't know whether to believe it or think they had forgot to order one. Meanwhile, the car has started to become really noisy over bumps, I think it's coming from the drivers door and passenger rear door, maybe the rubber seals chirping. Whenever the rear wheels in particular hit something there is a click/rattle inside the cabin and it's driving me from my previous mood of despair to complete resignation right now. And to top it all off whenever I brake firmly they squeal like anything to the point where pedestrians are staring at me! If I'm honest right now I just want my money back but havent gone back to them since. I feel like I've bought a total dog of an example...

Price wasn't so bad, but it just takes ages to mix the epoxy, do a base layer, wait for it to tack, work the fabric, put the resin on and then work through the papers to get it smooth!

I've done some real carbon stuff in the past, but to be honest it's such a tricky job I lost patience. Here is a vw corrado spoiler in 200g carbon before sanding. http://i467.photobucket.com/albums/rr33/pete-r36/Cars/Corrado/video-2012-04-05-17-00-54.mp4

Just to give you an update the issues have still yet to be resolved. At the moment Cardiff are waiting for Leicester to authorise the work. Not exactly seamless is it... They also suggested that because my car needs a new screen rather than a screen repair (it arrived cracked) they have asked me to put it through the insurance and they will pay the excess, first time I've ever seen that before. Got to admit the shine is steadily going off the car. I could have bought a new VW for the money I spent...!

Yeah its a 59 plate with 67k miles. It's got a years Lexus warranty but I figure it's best to get as much done as possible straight away. Good point on the dealer premium, I could have got the car probably 2-3k cheaper privately. If not I'll tell them I'm sending the owners club boys around lol. I am a bit let down that they haven't phones me back since Friday despite my calls to lee.
