  1. Can't see an easy way to get the ashtray lid off so wrapped it on the frame
  2. Cut the wrap to fit with a decent gap bearing in mind you want to wrap around the part not just over it.
  3. Now clean it, and I mean really clean it. Any grease from the mechanism or dust or whatever and the wrap won't stick.
  4. Ok ill blog as I go... Ash tray cover is removed with the little clips at the back, then tilt the wooden top plat up hinging AT&T he front, the chrome handle is screwed in.
  5. I'm going to wrap the console tonight, if anyone is interested would you like pics as I go? There is a sticky on it but I'm happy to give much more detail of the breakdown process etc? Let me know. I have the console/ashtray out of the car already but found a vid on YouTube on how to do that. Cheers, Pete.
  6. Console is simple. Remove the silver sides, unscrew the gear stick and put it in N, then work it out from the sides. I use an importer for my customer cars so my wrap is directly sourced, but hexis or 3m do hundreds of types.
  7. Hi Chris, to answer in order: It is simple in theory, though to get an oem finish takes patience and a bit of technique. I'm used to doing full panel external wrapping and even I took about 2 hours to complete the work. Trim removal is very easy with a plastic trim removal tool (not a screwdriver lol). The costs can vary, the carbon I use isn't cheap but it looks more realistic than any other wrap I've seen. It's pretty durable, it won't wear but damage is the only potential issue though it'll be no worse then the original wood. It's a semi permanent covering I suppose, it'll last years if applies well, bit if it does mark then you can always rewrap it.
  8. Been busy tonight. I do vehicle wrapping for fun and beer lol, so set to work on my wooden trim. Was a pretty easy job compared to most, started off with the window switches will do the console when I have time and possibly the silver handle trims. Here's some pics... And some albeit dark pics fitted, using the led map lights and phone flash.
  9. Thanks Norm, my last one was a 250 too, my first was a D. The DAB was fitted to my last IS which had the HDD nav system fitted. It's a lexus option listed on the accessories website, though when fitted it caused terrible interference over all sources which couldn't be fixed.
  10. Hi all, here's a long time thread update! After a bmw 135i I'm back in a Lexus. IS250 SEL 22k miles in a lovely colour combo of silvery blue (not sure of name) and black leather, Good service from Lexus Cardiff so far, though one or two tiny body niggles they will hopefully sort when I have time to take it back up there. Stealing the dealer pics until I take some better ones.
  11. Also if you use the iPod or USB kit does that mean the Levinson system will play movies from them?
  12. I assumed from the brochure that you would be able to navigate the iPod easily using the radio/steering controls. Back to the mml then...?
  13. I've been looking and as bluenose says, can't find a uk seller. I think I'll look into the lexus iPod option. Not cheap but I got the car for a great deal and I'm thinking I could even get a cheap early gen iPod and leave it in the glove box. Anyone know how the lexus adaptor works in practice?
  14. Could possibly be easier just looking on eBay for a 2010 head unit and selling the 2009 unit on!
  15. Looks interesting, but how is it controlled? If it's connecting via aux does that mean you have to use the phone to control playback?
  16. I mean I use usb in my current bmw. I don't think it has usb, only an aux input. I can plug my phone into that, but ideally I'd like to use the cars controls.
  17. Hi thanks for this. Does it let you control the iPod using the nav screen and steering wheel? I rarely use CD at the moment I tend to use a usb stick, if the adaptor is unplugged will the CD player work again or will the unit need to be removed from the car each time you need to use it? Cheers.
  18. Hi guys, I've bought a 2009 IS250 (my third IS) and hopefully will be picking it up next weekend. The car has the Levinson system and navigation, but no USB port. Usb is what I really want but I have an iPhone so either way I'll be happy, is there a box of tricks that will let me play and control music using the nav screen/wheel and display the ID3 tag info and let me search music via artist or album etc not just playlists? I've seen lexus offer an iPod connection, and I've seen loads of stuff around from grom, dice, dension etc but I'm struggling to find for certain which box will do what I want and be compatible with my car? Thanks in advance. Pete.

    Is250 Wanted

Hi guys I'm looking to change my bmw 135i 2010 for another IS250. Looking for a non silver auto car with nav and multimedia. If anyone is interested please get in touch, and if you fancy a swap even better! Cheers, Pete.
  20. Courtesy car was collected thursday so now just awaiting the cheque to arrive. Thanks again for the advice, and I would stress its not put me off Lexus Cardiff at all. I would buy from them again no problem. Cheers, Pete.
  21. Haha I think it's more an excuse to get down the shed/garage and being loathed to spend the money for real carbon. The spoiler only took about 40 mins, the mirrors took about 40 each. Heat is the key!
  22. Done m VX wing mirrors and spoiler in it too... Badge and fuel cap have been done in infamous plastidip!
