  1. Same happened to mine, it was the switch. Got a warrantied used one on eBay for £ 30.00 and took less than 5 minuets to fit.
  2. Hi again I forgot to add that my RX400h also has a Powerflow Stainless sports exhaust system ( Cat back )
  3. Hi all, I own an July 05 RX400h SE-L which I have owned for the nearly 9 years ( 2 previous owners ). It has done 117,000 miles and as it should comes complete with rear video screens in headrests, 2 x wireless headphones plus remote controller. Is fitted with a Tow Bar ( which I had fitted ) but only used it to tow my RIB once before I sold it ! and Stainless running boards. Recent Powder coated wheels ( inc. spare ). Brand new Tires including spare. Recent new Discs ( all round ) Recent new rear Brake caliper, New AVS linkage. Recent timing belt, Tensioner, Waterpump etc. New rear hatch operating switch. Recent Yuasa battery. Latest Satnav DVD. Recent service ( same garage has looked after it for the entire time that I have owned it ) Vehicle will have new MOT when I sell it but no Road Tax ( Disabled owner ) I am looking to sell it around March when the 2009 Black on Black RX400h that I am after becomes available. All receipts, All previous MOT's certificates plus complete tool kit, handbooks etc. Has never let me down during the 53,000 miles I have done in it ! ( actually a waste of time and money having my AA membership for it !!! ) Paid £ 9,500 in February 2013 and will be looking for £ 4,500 ovno.
  4. AS their is no Aux. facility fitted as standard Is it possible to fit a USB socket to the sound system on my 05 RX400h ?
  5. Is their anyway you can program the door mirrors to fold automatically when the ignition is switched off like my old LS400 did ? I keep forgetting to manually fold mine sometimes when parking and the replacement costs give me sleepless nights !!!!!
  6. Hi fellow owners. I have to replace the Battery on my 400h ( sat in carkpark overlooking the Solent last Tuesday having lunch with radio on and door open to catch the breeze for just 30 min. Real bad idea.....interior lights on - open door. Message on display telling me to put car into Park before starting problem is it's already in park !!!!.. Thanks to the lovely Julie at Snows Lexus who tells me the problem. Called mate who lives around corner who comes with power pack and 5 mins. and I'm away ) Now the problem. I have brought a new unit ( £ 45.00. inc. vat and delivery !!! ) but I have read on line ( mostly on the US owners club site ) that if I disconnect the old unit and install the new one the entire car will go back to the factory default settings i.e. satnav, phone numbers, auto window and sunroof settings etc. etc. Is this true ???? And if it is does anyone have a cunning plan as to how to swap batteries without this all occuring ? Regards to all Peter.
  7. Many thanks spurty. Will contact my local dealer on Monday. To be honest the whole ICE deal has been a bit of a nightmare. When I got the car no remote for DVD, no headphones and no manual. Remote from ebay at £ 20.00 and a pair of new headphones again on ebay for £ 18.00 !!!! But at least when I got the dvd to work I found a film in it !!! Regards
  8. Hi Can any fellow RX400h owner help me out here ? When I purchased mine last February it came complete with all manuals ( ownwers, navigation etc. ) but not with a copy of the rear in car entertainment system manual. I have spoken to my local Lexus dealer ( Snows of Hedge End ) who have told me that the publication is no longer available. Apparently the publication was a UK sourced item as the ICE system with the floor mounted DVD player and headrest mounted screens was a UK market only fixture which was retro fitted to the vehicles once in the country. So my question is to see if any owner has a copy of this manual and would consider copying it for me ? I am more than happy to cover any costs, postage etc. I understand that it is a fairly short publication !!!!! Many Thanks Peter
  9. I would consider JasonJams 38 mpg as a right result. I do find it somewhat amusing to read various statements such as Unity referring to 50 to 60 mpg being the "normal efficient diesel" these days !!! Yes in a smart size two seater with a 1 litre 3 cylinder turbo engine. Not a Two ton AWD super luxury motor car that has every comfort and takes five adults plus luggage that can go from 0 to 60 in a tad over 7 seconds and tops out at 125 mph and still returns an average of over 35 mpg !!! My RX400H is the forth large SUV I have owned. Previously I have owned a Shogun 3.0 V6 petrol = 24 mpg. Isuzu Trooper 3.2 V6 petrol = 23 mpg and then a Toyota Land Cruiser 3.0 straight 4 diesel = 25 mpg. All vehicles similar in size, but none even approaching the luxury or performance of the RX400H. Their is simply NO OTHER large suv that can match the RX400H figures ( except the RX450H ) Lastly it is worth checking recent AA figures that showed that these days unless you are driving IN EXCESS of 11,000 miles per year then their was NO GAIN financial in running a diesel. So I.ll stick with my 400H until I can afford the 450H !!!!
  10. Just picked up my second Lexus today !!! My first was back in 97 when I had an LS400. Great car, ended up doing 245,000 miles before I sold it and only ever had to replace the LCD heater display !!! Anyway back to today and my 2005 RX400H. To be honest after commiting myself to buying the car I was getting a little cold feet because of the various blogs about the models excessive greed for fuel. Until today I had never driven one but had taken notice of the various comments re. how you had to change your normal driving style to get the best from the model. Took a train ( I think I purchased the whole carriage instead of just renting a seat ) from Southampton to York were the dealer picked me up at the station. Their followed a 20 mile road test and I was shown all the whistles and bells. And as it was exactly as had be discribed I did the deal. Filled it at the dealers local Shell station, set both the A and B trips to zero and reset the consumption on the Hybrid display and off I went. 278 miles later when I arrived home I had averaged 37.3 mpg. This was achived because most of the route is motorway or dual carrigeway and I did virtually the whole journey with the cruise control set at 60 mph. So tonight I am a happy bunny, My last vehicle, a Toyota 3.0 TD HiLux on a really good day only did around 25 to the gallon. The RX400H is superb. I reccomend thsi model to everyone, just go lightly with the right foot !!!!!
