Guy's need some help here if possible. Gone to car earlier this week only to discover that the drivers side roof strip is missing. I am sure that it was there when it was last parked up. Is it possible that it could have blown off or is it more likley to have been half inched :tsktsk: Any way i have phoned a few salavge yards and can't get a replacement anywhere in South Yorkshire at the minute. Any ideas of replacement cost of one of these in Platinum Silver? Thanks

Need help guys. Changed the coolant tonight for the 60k service and not really had a problem doing the job. However after finishing I have taken the car for a spin (approx 3 miles) just to see if the system had any trapped air in, as others have experianced it previously. Couldn't hear any trapped air, but the car is now overheating like a b*tch :tsktsk: Why may this have happened? Dunno about any other is200 owners out there but my temp gauge hasn't gone past the half way mark before so im extremely concerned. It did go right into the red and when I switched engine off you could hear it bubbling. Dunno weather this will help but the heater has also stopped producing warm air. I did follow the advice given to me by Monster Mat in a previous post "when filling up, once you have about 2 litres in the radiator, switch on the engine, turn the heater to full heat and medium fan setting keep topping up the radiator till its full, (the temp should start to move of cold) once the guage starts rising close the rad cap, top the expansion bottle upto the mark indicated, run upto full temp. switch of engine, alow to fully cool, top up if needed" Whats the cure guys???

Depends which brand you want mate. Just had mine done today at a place called GT tyres in Thurnscoe South Yorks £85 inc vat per corner, fitted and balanced for Goodyear Eagle GSD3's. :D Thats miles cheaper than most of the companies are quoting just to send them top you online. Black Circles wanted £117 inc vat and delivery per corner. Cheapest i found online was tyresonline.co.uk at £84.74 inc vat and delivery. Still thats a big difference from Black Circles. Orbital are a waste of time IMHO. Sent them 2 emails and they couldnt be arsed to reply. Incidentally GT Tyres say they wont be beaten on price. They even get the main dealers taking customers wheels in to have new tyres put on. They are also a recommended fitting company for mytyres.net Although if customers buy direct from GT tyres they will save about £15 per corner. Has anyone found better than £85 inc vat per corner fitted and balanced.

Surely the 3 Lexus badges on the car are enough. People tend to get the idea what the car is from those. Better off with a name plate not something that is vaguely related to the car.

for a complete coolant change the block, in best practice, also needs draining...this is where its done, in all honesty, if a good flush is done, it doesnt really matter that much its a pain to get to aswell :) I take it you need to get under tha car to reach it then :tsktsk:

So you dont have any air in the system? I have seen others on here mention it. I was about to change mine until i saw some of the posts saying they had problems afterwards with trapped air. Whats the best way to avoid getting air in the system? Does it need jacking up? My driveway is on an incline if that makes any difference. Any ideas guys

Nice try! There are indeed tax implications. If it were as simple as this, nobody in Ireland would ever buy a car here -- they'd simply get on a ferry to the UK. Simply put, if I bought your car, I would need to register it in the state. For this, I would have to pay the princely sum of 30% of whatever the government thinks the car is worth. Amazingly, sometimes that's still worth doing, but the UK car would need to be at a "competitive" price for this to work. Si Possibly still worth doing even at 30% knocked off having seen some of the prices on autotrader.ie. How can a 2000 is200S with 132000 miles on still be worth nearly 10K sterling?? In England a car like that would be lucky to fetch 6K at the minute. You guys in Ireland must be on good wages to be able to pay these prices. Looks like i'm off over to Ireland for a holiday later this year when the Lexus gets put up for sale. :winky:

thanks for that, good thing i'v got a 5ft/ 3ft monitor (lol). seriously though you have had: the geometry test, nsr camber adjustment, osr toe adjustment, and front toe adjustment all at a cost of £50, that sure shows the power of the "gold club card" the "trusted centres" on WIM site at best would charge £97.12 inc vat... and i must add you did get a "full" geometry aswell, my only negative point is the front camber position "lady Lexus" has a killer camber as far as tyre wear is concerned, let me explain: "static" the front camber should be 30'-, the "dynamic" range is based on the suspention arc, so loaded the camber will be at 1 degree- and unloaded at 0 degree both taken from the static 30'-, your camber at 43' and 38' will inevitably be near to the 1 degree mark and conciderd normal, in short the front tyres will wear on the insides ( sorry ) Hi Tony, I am considering getting a full geometry check when the car goes in for a service next week at Lexus Sheffield. As you mentioned in the above post the tyres will wear on the insides when set up "correctly" at Lexus as in this case. Can different "your recomended" settings be provided that I can pass on to the guys that do the geometry? I currently run a totally standard car with 17" wheels. New tyres (eagle F1's) going on this Friday and I would like the fronts to last more than the 15000 miles that the current set have (the usual inside edge tyres scrub). One of the ball joints is also being replaced so the Geometry needs doing any way. How do your recommended settings make a difference....will it make the car handle any better/worse? I am prepared to sacrafice a few quid in tyres to make sure the handling stays ok. Any guidance appreciated.

Have tried to get a price for some new tyres on the website suggested and unfortunately it has not worked for the past week. I have also sent an email to the guy concerned and have not had a response. Is the discount deal still active or have people stopped using him?

Can some one tell me why tyre fitting centres insist that the valves need changing everytime they put a new tyre on, or fix a puncture? Is it as i suspect just to get more money from you? or is there a genuine reason?

If you only wish to deal with this particular dealer then I would def go for the service and not the supaguard. Supaguard is a waste of money. The dealers actaully buy the packs in for about £15 (I know cos I worked at a main dealers for 7 years) If necessary buy one and do it yourself, i usually do. However i still dont see that the supaguard paint protection does anymore than a good car polish does. Why not ask the valetors if they can do it on the side. They usually have plenty spare as a single pack stretches to more than one car. The service will be better value thats for sure. I would still play one dealer of against another go for carpet mats or a better price. Maybe this dealer is banking on your loyalty?? Prices of 200 still varies greatly, From £14,500 down to £10,500 for cars similar to yours. Print a few of the expensive ones off and show the dealer. You have nothing to lose :winky:

Lexus customer care centre (not from any dealers) just called me regarding my mot and 60k service thats due. They have quoted the following. Service at Sheffield £553 - time taken 3 1/2 hours Parts costs - included in price of £553 Air con filter £44.33 Air Filter £21.15 Spark Plugs £64.08 Oil Filter £9.55 Oil £30.40 She didn't say weather these are inclusive of VAT or not but I assume that it will be exclusive as it usually is. Does this reflect the costs that any of you guys have paid at the dealers??

Got my 60k service due and want to do a few of the simple things myself so can anyone point me in the direction of ppl offering discounts on parts. items needed- pollen filter and air filter. I have already ordered the spark plugs form ebay £38 inc postage. I have just gone GOLD by the way so should be eligible for any discounts. Also been through forums and still cant find a full list of work thats carried out at 60k service. Any help appreciated.
