My Dpf Story
Tegs200 replied to Matt222's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Had exactly the same thing happen on my previous Ford Kuga and what finally put me off modern diesel cars which is a shame, you use to be able to drive them however you wanted but now they are suppose to advise you to buy petrol if your only doing short trips lol and that is how ridiculous these filters are and why main dealers are reluctant to cover them under warranty because they now how problematic they are and there is nothing they can do as someone from the eu have said its saving the planet. But if it was me and I was planning to keep the car I would 100% have the dpf removed and enjoy trouble free and much improved motoring , good luck. -
Is250 Idle Rpm?

Seems pretty normal to me as well. -
No that's fine , The main reason is my wife has been use to driving 4x4 in the past and really wants to go back to a higher driving position and with more room in the rear for her mum and dad that would also be a bit easier to get in and out of , it's definetly the smoothest engined car we have owned though and it's a shame in some ways as it was only a one owner local car with FLSH but hopefully that will make it easy to sell. Just to add we will either go for another Ford Kuga or a Kia Sportage if we can up the money , no worries on the Tyres but if you know any other members who might then point them my way for a bargain , cheers.

If leather and nav is your thing i agree but for me leather is cold in the winter and hot in the summer and creeks and goes plus and sat nav i have had in previous cars i have found a pain and hardly used . I am not saying the SR is better but for me its not worse either as i like my seats in cloth (odd i know) you also get alloy pedals and scuff plates and it looks so much better visually when you walk up to it imo. I could have bought a se-l for the same kind of money as there is know difference in second hand prices (just look on autotrader and type SR) like i said im not saying its better but sayiing you can not compare it with an se is wrong for me anyway

Hi After reading some posts I see you are the person to ask in this area ? My is250 is great but the ride is a little firm , is there a more comfortable set up out there without having to drop to car to much ? My car is a 2008 SR by the way , It's probably me being ultra fussy but if it was a little softer it would be perfect IMO . Had a A6 years ago and that just glided over potholes and bumps and I know there is a trade off between sport and comfort but apparently my model has the same set up as an se or se-l so the sport must be very firm. All feedback appreciated.

Running Red Is220D

Yes it is but it should also be illegal to put 70% duty on fuel as well. -
Ok can see your point as my tyres are great on the 10% of smooth surfaces but not the other 90% of roads , what makes a tyres quieter on the rougher roads ? before the falkens the front 2 where kumo le sport which where softer and quieter but the tramlinning was terrible . Surly one is250 driver has stumbled across the holy grail and i want to know what it is lol

Hi the only difference is the colour and rip off duty put on it , i know some will disagree but if goverment did not take the pi.. out of drivers then these questions would not be asked , they bring it on themselves through greed and tax. -
That's weird as they come up as a quiet tyre , everything points to Dunlop Sport Maxx RT but then you still get people saying not to buy as they are noisy even though they only come with a 67 Des-able rating (I give up ) I am running Falken ZE 912 buy they are rumbly Not sure the new rating system can be trusted. Seems a bit like mpg figures. But if you can not trust the labels well then you can only trust to luck and that can be costly and annoying afterwards.

I have thought about doing this on previous cars I've had but never thought I'd be thinking about it with this one , the reason most people buy this type of car is they have got the cat back exhaust and coilovers out of there system and just want a more relaxed driving experience and this car does that all the way until you get the road noise IMO .

Which One To Buy?
Tegs200 replied to lexington013's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Hi This is only my opinion but if mpg is not top of your list then buy the 250 as they are just so smooth and an auto would be a bonus , good luck.
