  1. Mine went off at 3.O Clock this morning. No signs of forced entry. Car is a 400H did have a purse with coins in centre console and a metal multitool in a canvas pouch. Chris
  2. Think only power display available as the engine is linked in to the electric motors. Power guage does go up and down like a rev counter i have found that it has a simlar look and feel I when you press the load pedal back off when it nears maximum. I can't get over the acceleration and instant power on tap for such a big car. Best regards Chris
  3. Thanks TeejayBee. Need my bonnet spraying too and will probably do front and rear bumpers at the same time .Have one or two stone chips elsewhere which I just want to touch in. Also have slight beiginnings of corrosion on very edge of rear door but will have that done proffesionally also. Cant afford a new one but I love my cars and like to have them looking as pristine as time and money allows. No wonder I couldn't find the paint code if it's the vin no. THANKS AGAIN Chris
  4. Would appreciate advice on best place to get touch up paint and where the paint code is. Mine is persian quartz (I Think ?) Thanks Chris
  5. Evening Colin Many thanks your reply must say feel a bit happier now.Guess treating the red rust area with Kurust would at least slow the corrosion of the metal holder down. £1000 plus labour wow that's expensive. I did get six months warranty with the car but non Lexus warranty 2000 and not sure this would be covered particularly as it has not actually failed yet. Would there be any mileage in putting gaffer or electrical tape around the area where the metal strands used to be or not necessary. Really appreciate your help Colin particularly taking the trouble to look under your car.
  6. Colin there is a thread on Club Lexus started by Chambl which is titled ever seen this before it shows a picture of a badly corroded connection but still having the metal strands of the shroud in place. There is a picture of another one later in the thread showing a southern california users unit showing no signs of corrosion.Posts are around christmas 2012 if ai am reading the US style date correctly. They do not give a definative conclusion. Interested to hear your view and if this has come up before. Thanks Chris
  7. Well that was interesting not agile anymore but at least you can get underneath without ramps Chris
  8. This is just to show shape of plate Duncan mine was provided by supplying dealer and is euro gb style in legal format including bs no and suppliers name. There are several suppliers who will provide the style and meet the legal requirements. Chris
  9. Yes Jon they look rather nice Here is an example. www.motoshowplates.com Type your reg in and see what it looks like. Chris
  10. Rather than just an oblong strip the plate actually fits the recess they are a popular fit on range rovers which have a similar recess. They look like a smiley face and seem to be known as this in the motor trade. As said Finnish the look nicely Chris
  11. As mentioned preciously seems to be quite a bit of red rust on the subframes and particularly the cast surfaces underneath my car. Have treated quite amlot with Kurust and it is looking much better. Whilst underneath the car noticed that the orange cable which connects to the rear electric motor had a metal sheath around the end which seems to have corroded away. The actual orange wire connection looks okay but clearly there was amcover which is no more. The car seems fine but am obviously concerned to make this discovery. Any advice from the technical experts would be appreciated. Thanks Chris
  12. Just taken no of retention as paper work arrived over the weekend. Fitted smiley plate to the rear which in my opinion finishes the rear of the car nicely Chris
  13. Colin can this be avoided by applying a different driving technique or is it just something we have to live with? Chris
  14. Thanks Colin certainly pleased to have sorted the wiper and good to find someone so helpful at the Grimsby store. Chris
  15. Bought my car 3 weeks ago with a new mot. Looks as though new front wipers were fitted to get the car through the mot. The rear however was perished and split. Hats of to A1 motor stores in Grimsby. Went in today and asked if they had a rear wiper in stock and not surprisingly they said no. The very helpful parts assistant said it was not a problem as all I needed was the blade. He proceeded to go out to the car took the old wiper off and removed the old blade. He then cut a new blade to size checked to make sure it was seated securely and then went back to the car and fitted it. Must say am very impressed. And the cost £2.79. Dread to think how much a dealer would have charged to supply and fit a new wiper and I get to keep the original wiper frame rather than a pattern one which might no have looked quite right. Its worth checking before you replace the whole lot. All the best Chris
  16. 2005 Would be. My choice. The DVLA are a law unto themselves but no quicker than a fortnight and normally no more than a month. Its just taken me three weeks. Chris
  17. Disc tested on journey today and working fine. Miss Lexi my navigation guide seems even more sophisticated than before Thanks again for the help and advice Chris
  18. Gentlemen I thank you Simple's. when you know how isn't it. Disk in and re-booted and I have gone from 2004-5 to 2013-14 and the German disc is almost certainly genuine. Really appreciate the quick reply as I had limited time this weekend to do this. Have a good weekend. Chris
  19. Problem New disc arrived today from Germany looks genuine. So took off access panel and turned ignition to acc so power and pressed the only black button on the unit. Nil Nothing Zilch so turned ignition key to second stage and tried again. Still nothing. Any advice please am I missing some trick here or do I have a problem with the unit. Unit seems to work with 2005 disc in just cant get it out. Ideas/advice appreciated Thanks Chris
  20. Thanks the joint search of of all the breakers sounds usefull . Best regards Chris
  21. Wow that was quick Colin thanks. Thought that may be the case on the cost.and I hadn't found any specialist breakers via search engines. Yes think I am going to need to be patient and keep a look out. Thanks again Chris
