  1. Just wondered if there are any specialist Lexus breakers. Am looking to replace some trim on my car. The leather on the rear arm rests is mishapen and one side has been repaired but you can tell. Glove box llid is marked and also arepair on the left hand panel on the housing around the auto gear change lever. Would like to renew but I guess I am talking nega bucks to replace these wi new. Car is Persian Quartz with cream/beige interior. Any advise would be appreciated Chris
  2. Just received letter and stickers thanks team. Just wondered best place to put LOC stickers on the RX where have you located yours ? Any pics appreciated. Chris
  3. Thanks Colin that's pretty extensive treatment. As said though quite surprised at the amount of rust on the metal areas under mine the subframes brackets etc at 8 years old a professional clean and retreat will surely stand it in good stead for another 5 or more. The castings on the brake calipers and dishes behind are pretty rusty.Have started to do these with Hammerite rust converter. Chris
  4. Thanks Colin all I can go from is experience in my last two cars abt 390,000 miles between them and it seemed to make a difference. The Police and NATO use it in a number if their vehicles. Will watch out re the Coolant Best regards Chris
  5. Thanks Cymro for long term peace of mind with subframe and also body panels I am seriously thinking this to be a good long term move.. Chris
  6. Thanks Gents just intrigued as a few irems say Canada on them. Best Regards Chris
  7. Have been continueing the ongoing fettle over the weekend and have noticed quite a few made in Canada stamps and wondered if that may be where the car was assembled using some local sourced parts. Just wondered if anyone knows if any of the first RX Hybrids were from a North American Plant. Chris
  8. Personally would like them with different units . Chris
  9. Certainly have Paul might try that. Lol Chris
  10. Did anyone see this in AE seems a new baby on the way Q Lexus is developing a crossover to rival the Audi Q3 and BMW X1, and our spies have caught a camouflaged prototype close-up. Set to slot into the range below the RX when it goes on sale in 18 months time, the car will get styling derived from the CT 200h hatch. But its marked out by the jacked-up ride height and slightly chunkier proportions. Lexus has already filed patents in the US for the names NX 200t and NX 300h, implying that the car will feature a new, 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine, or a hybrid derived from the 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine and electric motor used in the new IS 300h. The crossover is expected to debut as a concept within the next 12 months, and will start at around £28,000 when it makes production UQ Chris
  11. Yet to find a sat nav that didn't have its own idea's where things are but have found them usefull. PS take it unit is in the boot somewhere havn't got that far . Do you just press an eject button and put the new disc in and wait for it to re-boot Chris
  12. Thanks Gents FEEL BETTER NOW all the best Chris
  13. Thanks Brian and Dan have just ordered from Germany as advised there dont seem to be many left now. The Nav system seems good and whilst better than the BMW unit in my Rover the fact that niether you or the passenger can do anything with it whilst on the move is a nightmare.Hope the new disc helps with the phone as well as this is driving me nuts as well. My old Parrot MK9200i was brilliant and would be tempted just to fit one but I am concerned it may interfere with what seems to be one of the most computerised cars ever built. Am missing my itunes match though so this is my next mission to do am ipod/iphone integration for my music. It's good fun fettleing a new motor isn't it. Chris
  14. Thanks Gents food for thought . Will ponder. Chris
  15. Thanks Colin think certainly the main service items will be around for some time. More of a concern would be some of the items specific to the Hybrid system such as some of the specialist cableing the orange ones etc.Much can be done with trim and body work but its the unknown for me batteries inverters etc which are going to be big ticket items. Feel a little vulnerable as living just a few miles from Lincoln I had Rimmer brothers on my door step who despite the demise of MG Rover in the Uk managed to source all things Rover 75. Must say after a couple of weeks am realy warming to the car have been interested in the brand for a while and when the Rx was launched really liked it. When I first started driving it the silence was eerie and it was a while before I began to trust the system. The sheer size of the car was also strange at first but it is so easy to drive and the view from up there is fantastic. May sound daft but I have been travelling the same route to work for 18 years and am noticeing things along the way that I have never seen before. Forums like this make a big difference to the ownership experience and the assistance is really appreciated particularly from people like you Colin. All the best Chris
  16. Just wondered if anyone had a view on the long term availabilty of parts for the 400h. When I bought my first Rover 75 it was just before the Rover empire came tumbleing down a sad day indeed for the uk motor industry. That was around 2005 spares are still available but away from standard service items they are getting more difficult to attain and certainly becoming more expensive. Perhaps, not expensive by Lexus standards though if my new battery cover is anything to go by. My intention is to keep Lexi for at least five years so just wondered if any informed views. Hopefully the worlds largest motor manufacturer is safe from the fate that my last brand met and spares will be available going forward. Chris
  17. Thanks Colin good tom hear from someone in the know. That's how I close it. Went for a test drive in a brand new Kuga and the very top of the range model I tried had a power rear door. Thought the new Kuga was a brilliant car .Until I drove the Rx and must say it is very ordinary by comparison. Thanks again Chris
  18. I need to update mine is 2005 gen 3. Want to make sure it is correct so updated phone interface and change of nav whilst on thevmove etc. Came accross this however for £39. Anyone tried it or should it be given a wide berth. Must say circa £150 for originals does seem expensive. Heres the link http://www.satnavi.com/lexus.php Look forward to any comments Chris
  19. Quite surprised to find quite a few red rust areas underneath the car and the amount of rust on the casts on the brake calipers. The car has been stood for a while prior to purchase and am sure over the winter so perhaps expected. Its the first car I have ever owned that I have been able to get underneath without a ramp.Have done quite a lot with Hammerite rust converter and its made a big difference. Sure this is already a well Oiled subject on here but does anyone have any experience of rustmaster.I am seriously considering spending £500 to have the proffesional waxoil treatment. Anyone used these guys they are supposedly the best in the country with one operation in the south and one in the North. My thinking is that I want to keep Lexi for a least five years all things being equal (anyone reading my previous posts will know that mileage and age does not concern me) Thats me and the car! To protect now is probably the right time to do it. Any views and particularly experience of Rustmaster would be much appreciated. Chris
  20. Not had mine long but I do both as had not seen anything to the contrary . Assume that motor will last longer if not used all the time but as said an assumption. Found mine handy already for the dreaded supermarket run. Chris
  21. Enjoy Nelmo I am sure you will be pleased of your decision it's early days too for me but I know just what you mean. Chris
  22. Cleaned mine with Armour All Matt dash wipes and its much better now. Chris
