  1. Sorry to hear about your troubles mate. I am astounded at the amount of common problems we seem to read on here, wheels corroding, gearbox clunking, thin paintwork etc... I fail to see why Lexus do not admit they have a problem and offer a better alternative, especially the wheels! I mean how much money is it costing them to replace all these wheels? All they need do is realise a new set that dont corrode and hey presto! Or even use more or a better quality lacquer? Sorry, is that too easy? I bought my car back in November, it had a new set of wheels put on it before I bought it, well these are looking shabby already and I shall certainly be asking for new ones on warranty once the weather picks up and again before my warranty runs out in November this year, if needed. I have heard from friends and family, about all types of cars from Mercs to Fords, even on motorcycles I have owned or again friends/family, recalls are sent out and known faults/problems are fixed FOC. Why is this not happening with Lexus? Perhaps not enough people are moaning about it? :shutit: I am sure Lexus wouldn't want us all moaning about the lack of quality, especially as they seem to be getting all these awards etc... Come on Lexus, put your parts where your mouth is! Nick
  2. Hmmmmmm....... I wonder if enough people were interested, if we could get a group buy on this thing? http://www.speednation.com/store/AUT_78701-3_more.html
  3. Hi All I REALLY want a Model of the IS, be it 200 or 300, have sent him a message to see if he has a buy it now price If I cant get it, does anyone know where you can get these from? Cheers Nick :zee:
  4. Peeps I have tried to look for Alex @ JDM contacts details, but cant find his exact name on here to message him. Any ideas? Thanks in advance Nick
  5. Thanks for all the replies. As a result, I am going to leave the spoiler alone (plus due to my other spoiler link), as I am going to get the lip one with the led brake lights in. The sports grill, I got all excited and didnt notice the colour bit, so thats a no go for me either I am seriously thinking about the DDE's though, I really like the look of them, I did mail Scott as someone suggested and he has kindly offered me a deal on a set. Need to look into the links about fitting them though first. Thanks Again All. Nick
  6. Hi Guys Interesting comments coming up! Cool. :zee: I have asked at the dealer and was quoted "roughly £400-£500". Cant believe its that much, but my search goes on. Have to say, from the pics I have seen, I really like the lip one with that Marcus showed the link for, very nice indeed! Where can I get one.... Nick
  7. Oops, forgot this.... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...&category=50175
  8. Hi Folkes, I just been checking out Lexus gear on the wonderful Ebay, spotted a couple of things that take my fancy, just wondered if anyone had any good/bad points about the stuff I fancy? Maybe you think its over priced and know of another source cheaper :zee: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...&category=23012 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...agename=rvi:1:3 Any advice gladly received.
  9. Hi Chaps and Chapasses, I am thinking of have a spoiler fitted to my IS200SE (Granite Sky colour) and I am just wondering what peoples favoured choice of spoiler is? Raised or Lip, you decide.... Any + / - to aid me in my choice would be good. Also, does anyone know any good places to get one fitted etc...??? I am tempted to just go back to the dealer where I bought the car (Oxford). Thanks in advance. Nick
  10. Hi Guys Thanks for the replies. It happens when driving, so the car is defo not at idle. The car is a IS200SE on a W reg (2000 plate), as someone mentioned maybe it needs a new battery after 4 years? But this is something I will take up with the dealer, as I only bought the car back in November and they said that the "Lexus in-house" checks are performed to make sure no parts need replacing within the year OR the next service. :zee:
  11. Hi Chaps, I have noticed that sometimes my lights dim when I try to use other electric appliances in the car, such as the electric windows. I seem to remember seeing threads for this before, but I jus wondered if anyone can tell me if this is a: 1) No a prob, just the norm. (Seem to recall someone saying the electrics werent rated as good as they should be?) 2) A battery fault 3) A alternator problem I don't think it could be the battery, as the electric runs of the alternator when the engine is running, correct? Is it best I just get them to check it over when it goes for a service in 3,500 miles? Thanks in advance Nick
  12. Hi Guys I have had problems with my cd player too. It seems to be when loading disc 6 or when the cd changes from 5 to 6. I have noticed that the cold weather seems to have an effect on this. I keep meaning to check the stereo booklet to see what Err 3 actually means, has anyone looked? I have also seen an Err 1 problem with the stereo, that happened after loading a new disc into 6. Both these err's appeared on original discs, I have found that the player does play CDR's no problem at all. I have been in touch with Lexus who have ordered a new head unit for me. Its a 2000 W Reg Graphite Grey IS 200 SE, I only purchased it last November, but Boy is the smile still brighter than the headlights! Nick
  13. Wot no Lexus If I hadn't bought my IS200, I would have stuck with my ickle 1.7 Puma and probably had it tuned up. Was a wicked little car, could throw it around loads and it went very well. Quicker 0-60 then my IS, was compared to the Lotus Elise, but half the price. Do miss it sometimes, Until I sit back and chill with my heated seats on.
  14. Chaps, I have noticed you all mention this err3 message, but has anyone had a err1 message? I was trying to load a new cd into slot 6 and it just wouldnt play it! I tried changing it with the CD in slot 1 and they both worked perfectly. I have had the err3 message twice now, is this something I should just go to the dealer and ask for a new head unit? Mine has the cd loaing at the bottom of the player, is it true the better unit loads the cd's at the top? The car is a IS200SE on a W 2000 plate, I only picked it up in November. Thanks
  15. Hi Guys Thanks for the replies. I am very interested in one of those grapping devices, think my nan had something similiar for when she dropped stuff. As for the carpet, I agree wear and tear (scuse the pun), but the car has only done 23k and is only three years old, I call that poor quality. I will call the dealer and see what they think. Thanks Nick
  16. All, Yesterday whilst giving my car the once over, I noticed when hoovering out the back, that part of the carpet is ripped! If you were sat in the back, behind the driver, it would be to the back left corner of the footwell, just where the carpet goes up over the centre mound. Is this something anyone has seen before? I bought my W reg IS200SE back in November last year, where they obviously gave me a year's warranty, but would this cover carpet? Another small point, does anyone else get annoyed at how easy it is to drop stuff down the side of the drivers seat, but a complete nightmare to get it out again! Thanks in advance. :zee: Nick P.S. I am a gold memeber, but I cant work out how to use my gold log in, in this section, anyone point me in the right way as I am defo on the wrong way here!
  17. Hiya I have had this discussion with my Nephew, who works for an insurance broker. He said it varies from company to company. Some only ask for performance related mods, where as some also require cosmetic as it "makes the car more appealing to a thief". My advice is to ask your insurance company direct, cos believe me, should you need to claim (touch wood you won't), they will check the car for any signs to get out of paying you! They are gits for doing that.... Hope this helps :winky: Nick
  18. Superstore car parks are a nightmare! Not a good time of year for them or for having some idiot hit your car.... Through experiences (bad) of friends and family, report it to your insurance company and at least they will have a record of it. If the old coffin dodger decides he cant afford it, at least you have pre-warned them and they will fight your corner. Do you have legal protection with your insurance? Fingers crossed he will cough up, but you need to cover your **** as you don't want to fork out for it! Good luck anyway mate. Nick B)
  19. I am not too far from Surrey, I will give the guy a call and see what he says. I am a gold member already, but I dont seem to be able to write messages on here with my gold account, just the one I used before I went Gold. I will have a look at why, when I get more time.... Would rather be out in my car :winky:
  20. Chaps, Thanks for the replies, this place seems a top place to get it done, however Nottingham is like 150 miles from me! Does anyone know a decent place in the south that can do it? I am based in North Hampshire, so someone is this area would be ideal. Thanks in advance. :zee: Nick
  21. Chaps and Chapasses, I have noticed that my recently purchased IS 200 SE, has one rear passenger window tinted. I wondered what he cost would be to have the other changed for a tint? I know to get it changed back to a normal colour would obviously be slightly cheaper, but I just wondered exactly by how much? A stupid question I know, but I cant have just one tinted window, I think it looks stupid! Sad isn't it? The only thing I can moan about is a stoopid tinted window! :zee:
  22. Hi I had this problem this evening, then I remembered I once read on here, that if any door or the boot, is not shut properly the car will NOT allow you to lock it! Once I found the door in question, it loced straight away :o) As for microwave signals blocking this, I cannot see that happening. Microwave signals are above 1GHz, where as a car transmitter is either 433MHz or now more commonly 868MHz in this country. How do I know this? Well I used to test alot of car keyfobs when I was a approvals engineer :o) However, TETRA is now operational, this is used for emergency services communication and it just so happens that it works on roughly 433MHz! So, that could be a problem, if you have a TETRA mast near your work or home. Hence the move to 868MHz. Hope this helps. :zee: Nick.
