  1. Do you think it was not fitted correctly that the cold temps would have made it crack and so the leak? That's how it was sold so until october/ November when temps dropes we wouldn't have noticed. Or they broke it Anyway they wanted £330 and so we doing 50/50 each but I'm not happy hence the more info I get tonight I can raise tomorrow first thing.
  2. It's only passenger side that's at fault. Driver side crystal clear. The faulty one is like first thing on a winter morning. Have to keep pressing the heated switch annoying as he'll. dimming wise it's been fine when it's de-misted. If anything were to drip there was no sign of it on the bodywork underneath so I'm very confused as to how that's only come up. Even the sales guy is a bit miffed at all this. I honestly think service have messed up here or on attempting to fault find have damaged my car. As wife an I work there is now way we can get away to inspect what's going on and so have to get the mirror fixed. The sales guy has been a gem trying to help out. Service on the hand have been complete nightmare. All I think is that they messed up or it was faulty when they sold it and so they trying to pas on to me. The part is not available till tomorrow so I will touch base with them in the morning about it. But appreciate everyone's opinions and assistance here. I think they trying on to be honest. Not a single crack on the housing so how the hell can it have been hit. Mirror folds, tilts on reverse and seat change.
  3. Pricey for mirrors. I just can't understand that how can they say its damaged when there is not a single sign of it. I have the sales guy asking about the fluid leak/ bodywork as he saw the car yesterday. I think the service guys messed my car up and covering tracks with this whole issue.
  4. Hi All, needs some advice and views on my issue. finally dropped of my Rx400 to dealer yesterday for recall and also made them aware of an issue that we experienced over the colder last few months. the passanger side heated mirror heats up but after a about 15mins mists back up. the mirror its self moves and folds in as normal. lexus dealer has told me that the mirror has been hit and fluid is leaking. its and electric folding mirror. its its been hit there is not a single sign of damage to the outer housing. the mirror swils and tilts as normal in reverse etc.. mirrors are always folded in when parked so if someone was to knock it and it broke (also allowing the fluid to leak as i have just been told) surely the mirror just wouldnt work than a mist issue. having just been told that due to the mirror having being knocked or hit the fluid has possibly afected the body work. never seen anything leaking but has been raining for last few weeks but yesterday i never saw anything on the bodywork even when showing the sales guy the mirror issue. something is not right here. Also when i bought the car the passenger side mirror looked as it had been replaced already as the it just looked a bit poor fitting . any input would be great. ive already got them down to a 50/50 split on costs, but part of me feels something has happened after leaving the car yesterday or issue is from when i bought it. thanks all, not feeling to positive about lexus on this.
  5. just had a call from Lexus Twick. my car was booked in for next friday but they say all dealers have been told by lexus to hold till something is sorted out. As at work i couldnt really hear what he was saying as had another phone call on the go,
  6. I was looking at trying to get a second set alloys of ebay for winter tyres but it just seems to be hard to get hold of or they are in bad nic or too far to go. I was wondering the same thing that reading about issues and the poor quality alloy from Lexus i have yet to see any with after market alloys. after market alloys are actually working out cheaper but finding some that really suites the RX. will have to start doing some homework and a bit of Photoshop
  7. just did our first trip up to midlands and back over weekend. having the 5p of tesco voucher i just put in the momentum stuff. Would say in total was about 275/300 miles round trip including local driving. was really monitoring on the M1 and was about 28/29 mpg. did put my foot down a little just to get the feel of the car as only had a few weeks and wife is the every day driver. in comparison to my 2.0ltr mondeo which did about 27 i was impressed as the Rx400h is a bigger car and more weight to drive. as motorway mile is less frequent (hence the purchase of the hybrid) it will be heard to compare. think I will just stick day to day regular unleaded and if we do a motor way journey ill stick in something a little better. I may just get some redex or good treatment to compensate maybe.
  8. your ok, as you just have to sit it out so it will be good to have it all done and dusted when you pick it up. just think your at top of the list. im just trying get something booked as in a few weeks i my work schedule becomes manic
  9. The reason for me is that my wife and I have extremely busy lives. For me this was a run around purchase. enough time went into sorting it. That's why we have to cover all the possibilities. when, were & how quick they can do this. That's all it is for me. I need minimum disruptions. you are right its not a big thing for many, but for some of us trying even to get a spare hour is impossible these days.
  10. Good to hear this. its one of the the reasons i was ready to just hand it over. we are all different and im just a person, pay cash,if it don't work, have the thing back. but will see what these guys come back with as hes looped the service manager in, so waiting on details of when they can do this and courtesy car. also went back on the email to get them to confirm regards insurance coverage for both my wife and I.
  11. just found this older post: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/16041-courtesy-car/ hmmmmmm.
  12. you see i went from 2 cars to one as my trade in as we don't really need 2. get a new car all is good. then this.... arghhhh.. you see about sods law. that's the frustrating thing for me. If i still had two i could easily get all the kids car seats sorted etc.. Also with my wife and I both having a car each we both had individual insurance policies and being a named driver on each others car. moved to the lexus, im the policy holder and shes named driver. we will alternate each year for NCB. so need to find out if wife will be covered on courtesy car, which i think should be no problem. did lexy cover your insurance and your named driver if you had one?
  13. Lexus are good that's a fact. For me it all happened at an inconvenient time, 2 weeks after purchase. you spend any free time you have going to look at cars from all brands etc, you buy it and its being recalled. its sods law! :) I'm just trying to get a slot sorted to get car in. waiting on Lexy to get back to me.
  14. I know what you mean, I've just had mine for a couple of weeks, i have decided to keep it as it is a fantastic car, but the recall issue just puts a spanner in the works regards our working/ family life. The thing is they are fixing it so you should be at the top of the list. Also have you possibly thought about a further reduction in price or maybe accessories thrown in. they are putting right what went wrong but for you and i its at the exact point when you just outlay-ed many thousands to have a fault. which is not good. the sales guys are saying how reliable etc... and then you give em your money and bammm there is a global fault.
  15. Due to the big job and numbers, are dealerships going to go into overdrive? or are we going to see long delays? Lexus better start paying overtime to dealership service centers I hope. also how do i check if my 57plate was recalled in 2011 and the work was complete? thanks
  16. have you spoken to them about getting a courtesy car if they refuse to release? say you need a car for work etc...
  17. had time to think on my flight back. sod it il keep it. just really dont have time these days. ill just sit it out till my one year old is car trained and then trade in towards a brand new rx.
  18. we may have a solution. will call Lexus tomorrow if wife can drop of car on a friday sometime after kids drops and play it buy ear. the things is as many of you know how hard its is with kids when you have one teething etc,, As i'm always all over the place it already makes wife's consultancy work difficult as it is.
  19. i think you may have misunderstood. (more likely i should have explained better) because of the recall i was looking at many things and was seeing what else was up for grabs then started to relax about it all. im only looking at the option of being able to get a slightly newer low millage rx400 as ive only got a touch over a week left before the 30 days ends. the reason is its 30k miles less than mine and just slightly newer. im trying to think longer term when i trade back in, less miles hope to achieve a better return. in 3 years. along the lines of take mine back, pay couple grand more and hope to get a bit more back in a few years when i upgrade as ill only do about 5k miles a year. or stick 49k mile. they are both the same car apart from colour, not really fussed as its for wife im only weekend driver. just to add i love the car, its just when you see something newer and there is an opportunity to do something about you explore all the avenues.
  20. hi all, due to the recall happening and the pain it will cause me, i started to look at what i could do and options etc.. anyway i stumbled upon the local dealer having a 08 plate with 20kmiles. mine is 2.5 weeks old 57plate 50k on the clock. I'm sure only a few more grand and it may be a better deal. both SE. only difference is that the 08 is silver and has black leather, mine is the dark grey with pembrooke, not sure if the leather is the same. its small things. And as the 08 plate will be affected by the recall it could be done prior to handover. should i start negotiating a swap? as im under the 30days to return etc...
  21. I understand where everyone is coming from and its good lexy are doing this. even with a courtesy car its a nightmare. 2 car seat/ 2 schools, wife cant be doing this. i work in and out the country and when i'm in the country im in the city from 6 am to 6pm min. i take time off i loose money. hence why I'm just annoyed and have to work out how to do this. thats why i feel that my giving it back and pay a grand or two more and get the 08 plate thats on their lot
  22. just saw this: Should a repair be required, the job should take no longer than four hours to complete, and it will be done free of charge. great free of charge, but when and how is this going to work. ive just moved from 2 cars to 1 lexus, and we need a car daily for wife and kids.. pain in the ...!
  23. thanks for reassurance, but you know when you buy anything and it has to be recalled you always think its going to break. this weekend we are planning our first trip out of surrey, and will niggle me if my car will pack up...
