  1. Fair point but engine oil is such a critical thing. Thrash it. Go for it, they were designed to be driven but what sort of person buys an isf and doesn't service it? you pays ya money but that would worry me a little.

Yeh your rite what your saying mate too. Maybe they did get the oil changed but not at a dealers . Wasn't stamped , I've done that before spec if I've serviced my cars myself , I always change the oil in my cars every 5000 miles , stupid to some I know but keeps my cars in perfect order .

  2. why wasn't it serviced? No one one this forum can tell if the lack of a service has caused long term damage but it wont have been good for it. Would you buy a Ferrari if it had same? if owner didn't service, what else didn't they do? one thing is certain, drive a bargain because of it. plenty more fish in the sea, so dont rush into it.

To be fair though Dave no body with an isf knows if any of there cars have been thrashed to death before we bought them , ours are 08 plates so could have been reall abused who knows , as for dealers to be honest I don't think they do the work correctly . The 70000 mile service includes valve checks , and gearbox oil change etc , I could put money on they don't do it . They will listen to the engine and say its fine , 7 thousand miles over is nothing .like Steve says if it drives well etc it will be fine .

Kieth I meant lol.2009 yours too lol

  4. The car is at 42k and has had 4 services.

The service before last was at 25k and the other services are on time.

This is a high performance engine. My gut feeling is that if it was driven up and down the motorway it would probably be fine but if caned there could be some wear that may not rear it's head for a few years.

It drives ok and they are willing to throw in 2 years warranty as part of the deal so am seriously considering it.

Buy it it will be fine mate
  5. actually I was at Toyota sourcing some parts for my car and saw the GT86 in the metal and I must say its design is not like any other sport Coupe on the road today. it sits really low to the ground and though I haven't been in the IS-F I have test driven the IS250 which I guess shares most interior dash parts with the IS-F but might be wrong. for £25K the GT86's interior looked good with all dials and switches looking nice hadn't booked for a test drive when I got there so couldn't take one for a spin but I heard they are fun cars to drive. since its pretty much a Subaru engine and Subaru sells the BRZ version, there are rumours Subaru is toying with the idea of bringing out a turbo charged version chucking out 300bhp and with a weight of around 1200KG that's gives it a power to weight ratio of 250bhp per ton. now that pretty much matches the IS-F in terms of power to weight ratio performance.. even with slight mods they are said to out do more powerful cars on the track. looks like a fun little Toyota

This is one hunting some curves at the ring

The thing is though mate it could have 400 break but it wouldn't sound like an isf ,turbo cars are too snatchy , the isf is smooth all the way . I drove the gt 86 , nice but does sound too Subaru impretza for me , have u test driven an isf
  6. Don't forget there are two types of IS filter, a normal white one (£19) and a carbon activated one which is black / grey colour (£26) so if it is just looking dirty because it's black colour it may just be a carbon one (flies etc not withstanding lol) :)

It's defo not a carbon one mate , white paper in places

  7. Mine had never been changed either. In fact it had a 2008 date stamp on it. Same with the air filter. Mine also has full Lexus service history.

Like I said mate services are a load of bull from dealers , we take them there pay top whack just for a stupid Lexus stamp., I picked my car up from Lexus leister , they did service it ready to go at 69000 miles but it was just a minor service , the air filter was rotten when I checked it when I got it home , it isn't supposed to be changed at this service , tell me why if it's rotten for the sake of maintaining a lovely car and for a tenner they didn't just look at it and change it , what crap , I bought one myself and put it in , really gets me wound up services and how they stick to the book , if it's dirty change it .

  8. post a link to any car you are considering as we may know it. For example i walked away from a black one earlier this year due to accident damage, picked up by a full rac inspection. My 08 has, well had, 44k miles and is very tidy other than more stone chips on the bonnet than ideal, still under Lexus (extended) warranty. Paid just over 20k from targaflorio cars on the south coast. Very happy with it, although I'm still gutted keith-w found one with, i think, 18000 miles on an 08 plate!

Mines got more miles than yours mate lol , 20 k more lol , miles are nowt man if the car gas history who cares lol
