  1. What i was told by lexus leicester was as long as the vehicle was serviced at a garage which was VAT registered and they used genuine parts then the car qualifyed for the goodwill warranty. I had 6 lexus stamps and 3 stamps from independent garage which was VAT registered. If in your case you missed out on the 7 year warranty i would just take out lexus care extended warranty for 2 years inc breakdown @ £795(10 direct debit payments of £79.50). The only problem i see is if you go down the route of asking local Lexus garage to repair vehicle under the goodwill 7 year warranty and if they decline then you will not qualify for repairs even if you buy lexus care extended warranty as the problem or fault was there prior to taking out the policy. Your best bet is to get a minor serviced done by lexus £159 (oil +oil filter change) this is just to build a rapor with your local lexus dealer ;) and then just ask service dept you want to take warranty out for your vehicle. If you not got a service book i would get a replacement and try to chase dealers where previous owners have had their service done. I recall doing this many years ago when i had a Nissan Almera GTi. I would telephone dealers prior to posting service book with self address enevlope included to have it stamped & returned when my vehicle only came with invoices/reciepts.
  2. I was in 4th gear at 3000 revs (80MPH) for about 15 minutes i would say before status changed to complete on the software. I was well chuffed :) considering i've had this kit for a while. I have always been looking for a way on how to regenerate dpf when vehicle is stationary its only when i translated the european lexus forum (spanish to english) and it was mentioned their how do it while vehicle was being driven.
  3. Lucky for me i didn't need to pay for force regen at lexus dealers last month when i had my car in for service they did it free for inconvience considering i told them about the code p2002. They use the MINI VCI cable andToyota TIS Techstream software to do the force regeneration. These can be purchased off ebay for couple of quid. I've never worked out how to force regenerate while vehicle is stationary but i have last week forced regenerated dpf while vehicle was being driven, a constant speed of 80mph at 3000 Rev's with laptop connected best have another person select the test menu to "ACTIVATE THE DPF REJUVENATE (PM)" status goes from "standby" --> "ready" -->"operate" --> "complete" meaning successful regeneration of dpf. From now on i will do this once a month. The beauty about the software is from the data list you will see exhaust temperatures reaching over 600 deg C, piece of mind knowing that temperatures are reaching top figures to burn the soot. You will also see other useful live data from the list. Attached a few screen shots
  4. I hear you m8 but spending £500 is to forget about the problem once and for all rather then servicing the dpf or adding dpf additives to the fuel every few thousand miles which aren't cheap. The cost eventually add's up in the end. So on those basis i wanted it removed. One less worry with the car. just my 2p. Just out of curiosity what exactly did carnetix do to the dpf apart from jetwash? did they add any dpf chemicals to loosen the soot? I'm not far from Melton Mowbray but i need to be won over to go down this route ;)
  5. £500 all inclusive i was quoted. Also I would've loved to bypass the egr, it's simple modification Only problem is got 2 years lexus warranty.
  6. My vehicle recently went in for a essential care minor service with lexus and as i was heading home about 10 mintues into my journey the dreaded VSC/Engine managment light came up. I plugged my bluetooth adapter to check what the code was and it was the dread P2002 rather then resetting it, i drove back to the dealers and told them the dashboard is all lit up. After waiting for an hour i was told they have regen the dpf (At no cost to me ) and i should drive it at high rev's on my way back home. My vehicle has done 95k and i have never driven in town centres all motorway mileage. I do have the toyota software but never got it to force regenerate not sure what conditions have to be met if anyone knows they can pm please for my future reference. Anyhow I was thinking of having my dpf removed by PandPauto sometimes next year. I was under the impression with the emulator installed and dpf internal's gutted out, leaving the actual dpf still in place, the MOT can be passed. I know VOSA state that a dpf has to be in place and the MOT guy has to do a visual check but these vehicle have under body protection so its impossible for the MOT guy to do a visual check on the dpf even if he does he can not know the internals have be gutted. Would be nice to hear from people who have done this and passed the MOT.
  7. Thanks Darren for your help. I've left the car with Lexus this morning to have the Head Gasket checked so hopefully will find out what exactly was the cause of loss of coolant. I Will update tomorrow once they give me a call with more information. Thanks again
  8. i was under the impression these wouldn't need topping up since they're pressurised closed system. Car hasn't overheated nor has temp needle moved to high when i drove down from birmingham on sunday evening.I will top it up in the morning and take it for a drive and see if its loosing or spraying coolant on the engine bay. I just pray to GOD it isn't the Head Gasket again!!. I've only done less than 5k miles which are all motorway mileage since engine replacement which was done last year November 2013.
  9. This morning was very cold and below 1 degree's C outside temperature, I did a quick inspection under the hood before i started the car.I noticed my coolant level but i can not quiet workout the low & full level. if i look at it from one corner where the markings are then coolant is just above low mark but if looking at it the opposit side and if i follow the full line across the bottle it seems ok. I've taken some photo's of the expansion bottle from both angles i hope someone could shed some light on this. The vehicle is parked on the road and is pretty much level ground. 10. Is the Dpf & seized calipers covered under these warranty ? My lexus has done 95k its had the new engine done last year november and new egr replaced under warranty this year in August because it was never replaced when the new engine was fitted. I was contemplating selling my lexus begining of next year but Lexus warranty offer looks great. I'm not on lexus newsletter mailing list can i request them to add me inorder to get this offer?
  11. Thank you ChumpusRex and ColinBarber. After reading your post's last night i decided to go for another test drive today but this time i turned on my climate control to full blast when voltage was showing 12.4v and guess what!! voltage shot up to 14.4v even though my foot was on the accelerator pedal when i turned it down to medium the voltage dropped back to 12.4v whilst accelerating so it seems as you guy's mentioned controlled by the ECU if and when demand is required. I did test the ground straps/points on the chassis, the readings were all fine as they should be. No difference in voltage. Not sure where i'm left with the car charger issue. Only solution might be just buy a spare battery. My car charger is genuine samsung which i purchase directly from samsung online shop -- > http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/mobile-devices/smartphones/smartphone-accessories/ECA-U21CBEGSTD
  12. Interesting you both mentioned ECU, now this got me thinking. About a fortnight ago my vehicle had a new egr valve replaced under warranty at lexus, while doing that replacement they mentioned to me they updated my ECU with the latest release firmware map by lexus. Just out of curiosity would be great to hear from other is220d drivers about their battery voltage levels on their cars. What i don't understand is why my mobile phone will not charge under these conditions, with the current situation i can not use the cigarette lighter port or Aux port under the armrest to charge my phone. Yet i have ruled out the car charger as it works fine in my other vehicle.
  13. I appreciate some form of fluctuation will take place and controlled by ECU but in my case the voltage never goes over 12.4v when vehicle is being driven and foot on the accelerator pedal. I did a test drive today for 20 miles and was monitoring the voltage, it was constant at 12.4v as soon as i take foot off the accelerator pedal the voltage goes up to 14.1v. Its seems odd this should happen, its like something is pulling the voltage down when i press down on the pedal.
  14. HI Guy's Vehicle: IS220d Multimedia Year: 2007 I hope someone can shed some light on my bizarre problem, only noticed it couple a weeks ago when my s3 car charger refused to charge my phone even though the charging indication was showing red on the s3. The charger works fine on my other vehicle. I have ruled that out. I decided to hook up my obd2 ELM bluetooth dongle with Torque Pro software to monitor what the voltage was. Here is my finding: Car switched off = 12.6V Car switched On (idle) = 14V Car switched On (Rev 1500) = 14.5V When driving, foot on acceleration my voltage drops to 12.3V as soon as i lift the foot off the accelerator the voltage shoots up to 14.1V, even if i'm in gear or while driving putting in neutral same problem when accelerating. ** For the above test Climate control, Radio/CD, windows etc,, were not in use, No load apart from engine running** I have even done a parasitic drain test using my voltmeter and that shows reading of 0.15 micro amps which i assume is normal aslong as its below 0.50 micro amps. The only thing i haven't checked is the ground straps. Can some please tell me how many ground straps there are for this vehicle and where are they located on the vehicle. I just hope its something simple like a loose or broken strap. P.S I also have at my disposal the latest TIS techstream software on my laptop..i can look at other readings in depth but not sure where to look with this problem. Look forward to your reply Thanks in advance
  15. I had my egr valve changed this morning from lexus of leicester(sytner group). lucky it was still under warranty. The part number quoted on my invoice is L25620-26102. ( Lexus is220d MM 2007 model). Just a heads up for anyone who has had their engines replaced like me, in my case was back in november 2013 and since then i've only done 3500 miles all motorway milage, i tend to use my wifes petrol car for city driving/runners. it came to my attention last week when the dread vsc/engine and traction lights came on while on the m25 and car went to limp mode..had to callout the break down guys. i mentioned to the technician that its a new engine and the egr valve was changed according to the invoice but as you can see from pictures, technician rightly pointed out that car driven only 3500 miles will not be coked liked that if valve was new. So in my case the egr valve was never changed and the old one was re- fitted but lexus of leicester charged lexus uk for a new part. So do check if you had a new egr valve fitted. First thing i did last week was to call lexus leicester and complain. i was booked in for today. Service manager was apologetic about the mistake and i've had a brand new Egr valve fitted this morning and also been told they updated ecu map for this model released by lexus uk
  16. The cable does come with the software but its version 8 in my case but you can easily download the latest version from the internet V.9.10.037. I have managed to test the option of force regeneration but in my case the dpf was already cleaned. i think i read somewhere in this forum the dpf has to be 30-40% full before a force regeration is activated.
  17. I've just purchased a MINI VCI FOR TOYOTA interface cable & downloaded the latest TIS Techstream software V.9.10.037 from the web. I got it all plugged in and working fine on my lexus Is220. I'm able to read all the PIDs available from the ecu. The only reason i bought the interface cable is to keep an eye on the dpf level. I read somewhere that you can force dpf regeneration via this software, I've found this option under "diesel exhaust" in the techstream software but i can not seem to find where in the software the status of the Dpf level ? ie is it 10%, 30% or 50% full Thanks in advance.
  18. Hi guys Sorry for the late response been away on business. @ Vissie -The voice command did not work while the sat nav was inoperable. I got bit worried myself, since i couldn't understand why that didn't work. I later on found out that once you insert the dvd ( full version with the firmware) not just map updates. Everything works as it should. @ Normski2 - Yes i did try a cd cleaner but did not work for me. Had to result in opening the unit but since i've done that its been great so far.
  19. @ Touche Please keep us updated. I've recently had my engine replaced for the HG issue, i've only done less then 700 miles since but i was assured by lexus mechanic's with new engine the head gasket issue was nolonger a problem. Bit worrying when i read your post that you've had your engine replaced and this problem is still persistent after 6 months
  20. Ok guyz i might aswell answer my own question ;) Got the dreaded Error message sorted by removing and dismantling the Sat Nav /DVD module. The removal procedure for the multimedia console is already listed by dirtydog under the topic of " Uk Dvd And Phone Hack Instructions Is220d Manual". It seems in my case the laser on the DVD player was not picking the DVD disc, this could've been due to dirt on the laser or even the ribbon cables being dislodged. Anyway its all sorted, saved alot of £££ and headache. I've take some pictures on how to dismantle the Sat Nav module / DVD player .May be these will help some other members in resolving this problem before forking out alot of money for a replacement.
  21. Hi I've got a strange problem with my Is220d (2007) touchscreen. The problem occured while i was driving on the motorway, the sat Nav suddenly went off and all i could see was black screen with a message can not read data or something on those lines with an eject button on the left bottom corner. When i switched off the car and switched it to acc postion without having the engine on . The lexus logo flashes up on the screen for a few seconds followed by the below message:- "Program can not be Read. Please consult with a dealer" and below that there are japanese writing. I can access all the functions on the Right side of the screen by pressing the buttons such as audio, climate control, display but can not access any functions on the left side apart from "info" buttom. Maps, dest, menu, when i press these nothing happens just the messages flashes up again. Another thing i noticed in the information menu alot of icons have disppeared the only one i can see are Telephone, Language and screen settings. The voice recognition works fine on telephone commands when pressing the phone button on the steering wheel but nolonger works on radio command or climate control. After reading on here regarding sat nav issue i opened the front clock display to gain access to the sat navi dvd. I had to touch the screen top and bottom the dvd ejected. I inserted the dvd back in but nothing happens i get the same message. Can some one please help me? MY dvd markings are 86271-53031/ 86271-60V661A 2006-2007 Ver.2
  22. Thanks Silver Arrow. I'm more clear now what type of cover is required. I did ask WD if failing seal is included and they stated it is and that wear & tear is also covered. The only thing i don't like about this cover is that i have to pay 50% towards cost of parts. I also rang around couple of lexus dealers and found that they do two types of warranty. The first warranty @ £795 covers mostly everything and has no limit on single item claim. The 2nd warranty what they class as 5 year plus or LexusCare which is cost £414 but this one covers less parts and its parts Warranty limited to £2,000. I also had a call earlier from warranty wise who offered me 15% discount on the original price quoted so that brings price down to £370 but will call later and ask about failing seal if that is covered.
  23. I just rang my local lexus dealer and price quoted was £795 and £419 which has a limit of £2000 for single repair and according to the chap does not cover everything the £795 policy does. Now i am confused lolol. I decided to get a quote from warrantywise for £476.37 1 year includes additional option Air Bag System, Emissions Failure (Cat, Dpf failure etc..), garage labour rate £100inc vat, Single repair limit £5000 or if i go for 2 years cover £870.46 spread over 4 months and is transferable to new private owner at a cost £35 for admin fee. What you guys think? just need to be carefull what i pay for and what is covered as all these warranties have small prints.
  24. @bluenose1940 - the warranty does it cover vehicles over 100k miles ? .The price £414 is that from lexus and which lexus dealer ? .My Is 220d has just had a new engine fitted last week and its currently at 90k miles on the clock. With the vsc issues with these cars i too wouldn't mind taking out a warranty, the price you got is worth every penny imho. Thanks in advance
