  1. Hi all, I've got bonnet struts on my 300 Sportcross, (its as I bought it), but I'm not happy with the fitting which uses a bracket off the wing bolt. Even though it's tightened it moves when opening the bonnet. The initial lift isn't smooth at all so maybe the struts are past it but have any of you guys bought any decent replacelmet kits lately.

I notice some of the kits on eBay fit to a bolt hole on the suspension strut top 🤔 Anyone got this set up and does it open up the bonnet smoothly.

So what have you got / can recomend.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Bought it just yesterday although I've had my eye on for a couple of years. I missed it when up for sale in 2021 then spotted it for sale again in November 2022. Last couple of owners have been enthusiasts but the latest guy couldnt justify the occasional use. He quickly got fed up with tyre kickers wanting something to ferry the kids about and offering silly money so decided he was keeping it by the time I contacted him but we kept in touch 🙂  It's solid with 60k miles a mine now. 👌

    Admiral has quoted the following:

    Tint >30%: 42 GBP

    Tint <30%: 10 GBP

That's interesting, and a small price to pay to keep on the right side of any future claim.

However what if I bought your car. I wouldn't know if it was factory tinted or not so would reasonably have nothing to declare  🤔  That would be an interesting argument with the insurance assessor

  4. It's such a shame that rust in this area can be the financial end to a good series 1 IS. Ironically it must me down to water ingress from the inspection panel in the wheel arch causing the rot from the inside out. Once visible on the outside its getting too late. 😓

  5. Given that electric vehicles are a green washing PR exercise until other liquid fuels can efficiently propel the internal combustion engine the question is will there be a scrapage scheme for redundant EV's in 5 to 10 years? 🤔

So "will electric cars be the new dieslegate" Yes, I fully expect so if there are still lawyers wanting to earn a living.

    🤷‍♂️😉

I was looking for a blue Gen 2 IS 250 FSport and appreciate how few and far between they are. Rarely does one appear on auto trader, and then this Gen 3 one popped up which given the 250 wasn't available for that long as you say must be a rare beast.  Hoping to collect it sometime next week. 🕺

  7. Well I might soon be the owner of Blue 2013 F Sport if we can finalise the deal but it needs some paint correction which the dealer is doing. (Front bumper repaint)  So while I'm waiting for the salesman to come back to me my question is.....Are all F Sports Ultra Sonic Blue or could it be Azure Blue and aside from looking at the point code is there much of a visual difference.  The car is 285 miles from home so currently I'm only looking at it in photos and video.

    Thanks for your knowledgeable feedback.

Same here, I am looking for a sportcross but there is hardly any out there. I keep seeing that 2002 IS 300 sportcross in green for £4500 popping up

I'm coming to the conclusion they are either rotten in the sills, have a cream interior or a crazy price and I'm not keen on any of those.

Hi all, I'm a new member and a new owner of a 2004 IS300 Sportcross which I bought last week with only 34k miles on the clock, just wondering if there are any more of these out there with similarly low mileage, can anyone beat 34k!

    Cheers

Bet there's not that many with so few miles. Are you keeping that way or driving it away it was intended to be?

  10. Same thing happened to me on my ISF although I was told the brakes failed completely on the brake test during the MOT. (This during my free MOT as part of my Lexus service plan).  I too got the £1200 bill and lexus warrenty weren't interested.

I consider the the problem is down to a design fault where the pipe rusts on the exposed few cm just off the union to the flexible hose to the caliper where it a) isn't poly covered or b) isn't behind a protective flap on the rear wing liner. It's just there exposed to rust.

Had my car not been on the ramp at lexus I would have had a perfectly good repair of just a few inches of brake pipe for a fraction of the Lexus price but given the high value of the ISF and to demonstrate a no expense spared maintenence regime I justified the big bucks to myself and went all in.

Could lexus offer a repair rather than replace. Yes I'm sure they could but that won't keep the technician busy for a day and half or pay for the tiled show room and fancy coffee will it.

Not sure it's a rip off or a premium service.
