I'm looking for another IS 200 or 300 Sportcross or 4 door Sport if there are any good ones out there. I regret selling mine in the past and fed up with the rubbish appearing on eBay. Non rusty sills being my primary requirement.

Your understanding is correct plus 140k mileage limit.
A warranty inspection is required.
Lexus confirmed with me over the phone, without inspection needed, that they would extend the warrenty as they could see the full service record on their thier systems. So might be different which dealer you talk to.
Interestingly that was 2 years ago on the Red ISF (which I didnt buy) that's been all round the trade ever since. Wonder if its had a 12 month service along the way?

I had a c70 t5 coupe with a manual box about twenty years ago. Mentalist fast...or at least it felt like it at the time (before that I had an 8v mk2 golf). I’ve never heard a car door make the same noise. Incredibly well built car. The early C70s we’re screwed together by TWR, so basically hand built. The Dynaudio stereos sounded better than the MLs in the F cars too.
As for modern equivalents to the F, no offence but I wouldn’t have an AMG...too shouty. The engine blip on start up is obnoxious. Feels like a gold belt buckle. Or a fat man wearing sparco driving shoes. BMW m-cars are too brittle and too highly strung like a Bose hifi with the loudness set to max. I like CL500’s and 600’s - not shouty like the equivalent AMG but do suffer from the Gucci loafer wearing slicked back dyed hair fifty year old connotation.
I quite like the older Alpina’s. I’d have a B5S from 2008/9 but they’re like hens teeth and I think it’s mandatory that you have to go to car shows with them and bore on about compression ratios.
A 928 GTS feels like an itch I’d like to scratch. Or a Ferrari 456. But then I’d also quite like a Citroen C6, an early G-wagon or a Passat r36. So I think I probably just need to have some
Passat r36 Ummmm . Was looking at one of those on autotrader at the weekend. Covers lots of bases for me 👍 Also looked at R53 mini cooper s. Shocked how cheap they are for the amount of fun available.

Nice to see you sold it easily! What was the age/ mileage and how much was it up for out of interest?
These cars either seem to sell really quickly or hang around for ages!
Good cars always sell well.
She was of 2009 vintage, 10100 miles, full lexus service history and 3 previous forum owners. Advertised for a strong £15995 which included the 15 months of extended warranty. I didnt get that but it started with 15 and I was happy with that 👍

Well I talked about it for months then finally got round to advertising my pride and joy on autotrader and it sold to the first guy to come and have a look. Not a member on here but a nice guy called Colin setting off to Hereford. I'm sure he will enjoy the car as much as I did so give him a wave if you see him.
Sad it's gone but just wasnt getting used enough as a second car.
Very happy with the price I got, suffice to say private sale prices remain strong for good cars.
Still fancy an RCF one day so will be hanging around here for a while.
Funnily enough the daily hack doesn't do any more miles to the gallon than the ISF. Good job I dont go far.

Thanks and i dont know but i can ask him for you and get back. He had them flushed into the floor when he had his garage built, it's a really nice space to work in.
My set up at home is much less posh but i can recommend these, just under £1k at Costco and relatively portable, gets the car 500mm in the air which is plenty for most things. I'd have been happy doing the radiator at home on them but was nice to have some company and not have to leave the old bmw out on the street etc.

Cheers. I think it's the ones you have I have seen before. Off to Costco for me then. Love the BMW too.

Great write up @scott-o so I guess I should be onto Lexus Parts Direct. I fancy a pair of those ramps too. What brand are they if I might ask.

Re
I find it particularly weird becuase Ireland seems to have an obsession with the gen 1 IS200/Altezza@Irish ISF agree with you on that. Couple of years ago I sold my old IS200 Sport sight un seen to an Irish guy who had a car transporter pick it up. I was expecting a flat bed and a full sized 10 car transporter turned up and he already had another IS200 on board. The driver said he was taking one or two every other week.

My Wife complains a lot but not about the ride quality of the ISF. 🤣 Mind you we nipped out in her 4 year Cleo 2 weeks ago and I asked "how long has it been making that cluncking noise". Replacing 1 broken and 1 cracked front springs sorted that and she still cant tell the difference with the radio on. 😭
That aside even an early ISF isnt harsh, firm but not harsh so you shouldn't be worried.

I'm confused as I've been advised that I should have the gearbox oil, filter and gasket changed at the same time as this work?
If this is a preventative job which some of us might consider isn't it just the case of swapping the rad which requires replacing the coolant but just topping up the transmission fluid with what you lose in the intercooler bit of the radiator. That's what I did on my Mitsi L200 pick up last year. I could be missing something of course.

Rad cheaper here for anyone wanting to DIY (this price includes VAT):
So £280 for the (uprated) rad and £175 for the water pump plus coolant plus a reasonable non lexus labour rate is starting to cost in. Any reason not to trust a reliable mechanic to do this?? Or is it even a competent DIY job.??

I have a spare set just in case 😂 but difficult to value I think. I have heard of them falling off but not sure about that, although the captive nuts do rust out. The market is very small unless someone has a rear ender and it's not being repaired on insurance.?? £100 maybe ?? Over £400 new if I remember right.

If its @Cezar B I guess you heard hi first 😂. I remember that noise. Awsome.

i've just spoken with Lexus Coventry and they are sufficiently happy that the solution they are providing will resolve all issues and will put it in writing too
So is that lower price then? My man maths is spreading that across the time time you have had the car and the fun its given you to conclude it's an absolute bargain pounds per smile. Got to psychology deal with the hit some how.

Fingers crossed for you @Twellsie Has it gone to Lexus or you have it at home thinking what to do

Errrrrr, might be missing something here gents but you plastidip the badges with the badges on the car!
After its dried for a few hours the plastidip just peels off the bodywork and breaks at the junction between the bodywork and the logos. You just mask off a square around the logos and paint the whole square.
Did mine when I first got the car but went back to standard after a few months.
No need to remove the logos to plastidip them. That's the whole point of plastidip!
Or am I missing something here!?!
I've seen this platidip method on YouTube and was it two minds if it actually worked. I get the theory but glad to know it works in practice. Might get my big boy pants on at the weekend and give it a go as my rear badges need a spruce up.

It's another example how strong ISF values seem to be at present but does seem out step with a newer RCF for the same sort of money.

Interesting insight there@4969_LXS How much were lexus charging for the flush, if its quoted separately. On reflection agree with @Northern isf to have it done as a proactive step although its something to have done additional to a major service I think. Or maybe by a reputable local / specialist.

I have had 2 conversations recently asking if my ISF gearbox has been flushed? Well I never knew gearbox flushing was a thing but apparently yes it is. None of the Lexus ISF service schedules mentions flushing and the nice young man at Lexus service department thought I was mad. (No mechanics available to ask).
2 minutes on the web describes the clear difference from just a drain and replace (the clue was in the name) but any of you F'ers in the habit of having your gearbox flushed as good practice ?? And if by lexus do they record it anywhere?

Me too, even if they resurrected the dodgy Sportcross name from the IS Mk 1, it would still be on the radar
We need to start a campaign 👍

At the risk of straying off topic the thought of an IS 500 interests me no end. In fact I would become all giddy if there were to be a estate version as a performance load lugger covers most of my vehicle requirements in one. It would be oh so much more appealing than an Rs4 or C63 estate IMHO.

Never be surprised at the amount of dealer mark ups. A friend of a friend unfortunately needs to sell a motorhome and their friendly dealer offerd her 30k. They have an identical model on the forecourt at £42. And it's not as if they hang around long as recent events see's self isolating modes of holidaying ever more popular.

Interesting £number as I have been thinking of selling my 09 plate ISF with 100k miles for a while so I guess its similar ball park. I say thinking as dont really want to sell but good news valuations appear strong.
If you had the money....
