  1. Being quite a new owner of an is200 and having had economical diesel cars for the last few years I can honestly say the fuel economy shock for local town driving is horrendous, it has taken me over a month of justification to myself that this car is an okay choice. If MPG is a concern and a priority then I'm sorry to say but this isn't a good choice, don't get me wrong I really like my is200 and I'm begrudgely happy to pay a little extra at the pumps to have a luxury branded car and the mileage I do it's just lovely on the motorway. Be realistic to yourself and your finances I struggle to get over 22mpg around town!!!
  2. I like your enjoying your 300 but surprised you struggled with the mpg on your old/my new 200 - I managed 450 miles to a tank, admittedly it was nearly all motorway miles at a steady 70/75mph (which is really hard to stick to all the time) but it can be done, the round town mpg is crippling though :( - have you sorted the 02 sensor problem yet?
  3. It's gonna have something to do with the bloody awful roads we have here in Bournemouth, pot holes, rough uneven Tarmac and speed bumps have probably taken their toll of the suspension components, not your fault pal, it's consumable components, need a dry day really to look at.
  4. Pictures would be amazing, this is something I'm seriously considering when funds permit as I want to do the projector lense conversion for xenon headlights, want the factory look :)
  5. So with the weather being so crappy and never when I'm free is it not raining for me to look and investigate further I thought I would just ask. So I have this knock/banging sound/thing/annoyance coming from the O/S/F suspension, it's intermittent and won't do it if trying to make it do it, however just by driving it I can just tell something isn't right?!? When it does do it, it's very loud in the car almost like a coil spring snapping a coil off (it's not sitting any lower nor making a sound when turning) so I'm sure it's not a spring. I'm aware of the ball joint problems these have but know they have been replaced. So any ideas anyone? a guide as to what to check when I do finally get to jack it up and look would be great. Thanks
  6. Check to see if there is any corrosion/rust on the disc just below or above where the pads make contact with the disc, sometimes if there is a rough rusty surface close to pad contact this can cause a variety of noises. Also check the back plate behind the disc is clear of the caliper and disc.
  7. Well all I can say is after having the joy of an is200 in my life for the last week and a half the fuel consumption around town is fecking shocking. Just done the maths and I'm getting 20.27 mpg. I pray this rises on the motorway runs over the Christmas period cause if not she'll have to go :(
  8. The majority of modern engines are interference engine now a days due to the very fine tolerences they all run to btw

  10. Check the auto data book as to what the code numbers translate to! I don't know but if it's a Mis fire then could it not be a coil pack breaking down when it gets warm/hot??
  11. Could be the fuse, switch, relay or the glass itself. Rule out the first 3 first, if still no joy then you'll be looking at a new rear window.
  12. Should do as long as they're 114.3 pcd which I think they are. Though check the offsets. I'm not sure if the IS and GS differ
  13. You could remove the electric sub frames off the lexus seats and with a bit off jigery poke, fabrication and wiring maybe make them fit new seats that are also electrics, but why bother?!?
  14. Another culprit could be the anti roll bar drop link. Often overlooked yet can still produce when worn an annoying knocking sound. Easiest way to check them is jack the car up so to take the pressure off the joints and give them a tug, if you feel movement through your hand then they require replacement, this can sound awful inside when driving.
  15. I've just brought an is200 from Chris a fellow LOC member and it came with a new Exedy clutch fitted by Mr Clutch, I believe it was quite reasonably priced. So you could try them if you have one near by otherwise most local garages should be able to undertake the job.
