  1. ATS are doing a Michelin deal at the moment (to end of April). Minimum buy 2 tyres eg 235 55 18 £300 on the car for 2 tyres then claim back a £30 fuel card which makes £135 per tyre,
  2. Hi Craig You mentioned you 'ebayed workshop manual'. Any link or reference to where it can be found? Thanks Eric
  3. A bit tenuous this one. My 2 front tyres need replacing soon and I'm happy to buy Dunlops (or whatever make you prefer) and the cheapest local quote is £145.00 'on the car'. Now looking at Oponeo on line as at today they will dispatch the same tyre to me for £104.00 delivered. So I intend to buy these and get the wheels refurbished at £40.00 per wheel which includes tyres off and on including balance and valve. So if my maths are right then the alloys will be refurbished for free. Not rocket science but thought I would share this thought-sorry to insult those who think I'm stating the obvious.
  4. Took the RX down to my local Lexus dealer on spec last week for a quick look over and good enough the Lexus technician drove the car foe 10 minutes to check that the air suspension was working as it should- and it is (did this as the 12 months warranty is due to expire early December). Anyway to the point.Without naming the dealership they have 3 different franchises next to each other(Huyundai,Toyota and Lexus). As I missed the turning into the Lexus dealership I pulled in to the Toyota garage and turned round in their car park to see a Lexus IS up on their ramps being worked on. Parking in the side street then walked around the back of the Lexus garage to see another IS on ramps being worked on. Now it could well be that a Lexus technician was servicing the IS in the Toyota garage-I don't know. But it does make you think-or does it?
  5. I've used clay bars in the past-great until they fall on the floor. Going to try the Farecia G3 Body Prep Clay Mitt (eg £12.99 at Halfrauds) which gets pretty good reviews and will do at least 5 passes over your car (depending on size). Have a read of reviews you may want to try this out rather than fiddling with a clay bar. Anyway each to their own.
  6. Oponeo website has Dunlos SP 270 sports at £101 delivered or Hankooks at £105-add £10/£15 for your local tyre place for balancing and swopping and jobs a good one. That's for 235 55 18s.
  7. Hello I own a 2005 300se l approaching 50K miles which has one months Lexus warranty left (that is the warranty for cars over 5 years old). Everything works as it should with the ride height adjuster (L N H ) and the car moves up and down when the different heights are selected. However the car feels a bit 'thumpy' in any mode. My question is does the compressor control the ride height in any way (if yes then I presume that it's working fine} or is that purely down the individual sensors for each wheel. If the latter is the case does the compressor only inflate the air suspension and if so could the the 'thumpy' ride be a failed compressor/and /or shock absorbers. Hope this makes some sense. Thanks in anticipation.
  8. I know from membership of another community that some members have used City Powder Coatings in Birmingham at £20/£25 each wheel with generally satisfactory results. Never used them myself but just one to add to your list (assuming they are still operational).
  9. Write/contact the previous owner-usually the best solution.
  10. Yes absolutely right .28 Viessmann boilers have been reviewed but none made it into the 'best buy' list but that's not to say they ain't good. My original post was that as a Lexus owner I am happy to see the brand highly rated no matter where it's published. There are many Vauxhall owners who are no doubt thrilled with their cars who will never know they are rate at 33% compared to Lexus 88% by Which. You pays your money......................................
  11. Lifted from the supplementary sent through the post with the usual monthly magazine as stated on Page 6.
  12. Lexus is rated No 1 'best brand car' with a score of 88% closely followed by Honda with 87% and BMW third with 78%. 'The RX is the standout performer' says 'which'. At the other end of the table is Chrysler with 32% just beaten by Vauxhall with 33%. Just for info.
  13. If the compressor has gone beyond repair then it's either Lexus only or as I write the only advertised 2nd hand I can find on ebay is £800 part only. It's then off to the 2nd hand parts sites to see what you can find. Guess no one wants to be the bearer of potentially bad news. If you find a solution don't forget to post so we can all share the result.
  14. Or Farecia G3 available from Halfords-tops the 'scratch removal' charts
