It's doing exactly what it's designed to do.

By leaving it in accessory mode and making the car turn off to conserve battery, the hybrid system has stopped. I would have thought a full off/full on cycle would then resume normal working again.

Thats what I thought, but what is a full off/full on cycle? It seems more than just a few seconds. After you lock the car and walk away you hear various systems buzzing as they power down. Perhaps this is why it works again after a longer delay.

  2. Had this a couple of times now,

I tend to sit in the car at lunchtime and listen to music in Accessory mode, until the car automatically switches the music off to conserve Battery.

When I then try and start the car, I get the message "Hybrid System has stopped, please put shift lever to P", although it is already in P. I then can't get it to start. It just keeps beeping with the message.

It is still on the original 12V Battery since 2015. Is it time for a new Battery?

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Paul

  3. I also am cynical, what corners are being cut to save time, will the job be done properly? I got the impression it would be two technicians working on the same car. How is this going to work for HSE etc. Will they get confused over who does what job. Fred thought Bill was tightening the wheel nuts, but Bill thought Fred did it, in the end nobody did it.!

My car goes in once a year so I can wait a few hours for it to be done properly. Especially if you use collect and deliver.

But for some where a car is a tool and not using the tool means it's not earning, it may be worth consideration.

  4. Am quite interested in the new UX300e, but the CHAdeMO socket could be an issue. Do owners find it difficult or restrictive in where you can charge when out and about? One concern is that in 10 years time when CHAdeMO is obsolete will there be anywhere to charge when out and about, or will we be stuck with a car that cant be charged anywhere.

    How are owners managing ?

    Thanks

    Paul

  5. I have a 2015 pre facelift car with 50,000 miles and it still feels new. I once had the facelift car as a curtesy car and it didn’t seem any different apart from the speed limit sign recognition not working properly.  The pre facelift does not get the safety tech which does not always work as it should. The ML would also tempt me towards the 2015.
The 2018 seems expensive compared to the 2015 and if you prefer the colour of the 2015 I wouldn’t worry about the age 10,000 euro would buy a lot of extended warranty.

Relax does not include Roadside assistance - this can be purchased from Lexus for I think £130. The 10 Year Extended Warranty does include Roadside assistance.

Thanks for the quick response (and John). That’s a relief I thought I had just wasted £135 on Lexus Roadside assistance😀

Well hopefully I have as I won’t need to use it but piece of mind for the Mrs. 🙃

  7. I’ve not bought a car through Cazoo or similar, like you I prefer the dealer experience. But I wonder how long dealers will exist or the sale of new cars. With the popularity or leasing and internet sales comparing prices and finding the best deal it seems as though the days for dealers are numbered. Which is a shame at it is nice to pick up a new car, spend time with the salesmen explaining how it works, setting up you phone etc. With leasing I suspect they tend to deliver the car and hand the keys over then leave, letting you to figure out how it works and as cars become more complex this is harder to do. Even making you resort to reading the manual.

The Lexus dealer experience is part of the brand and if this goes it will take away some of the special feeling of owning a Lexus.  Sad times 🙁

  9. Could Citroen have already trademarked the BX for use on cars?

Back on topic, I have had the TPMS go off twice after the hot weather, measured the pressures and one was down a few PSI. Topped it up and it was OK. Took it to a tyre place and they could not find anything. It has been ok for a few weeks until again after this hot spell it has gone off again today.  Something causing it to loose pressure in hot weather. Maybe something expands in the valve and it leaks a bit. Ill pump it up again and monitor.

  10. Hi,

The Mk1 Jazz and the IS are very different cars. My wife had a Mk 1 Jazz 1.4 DSI manual and it was a great car, She now has a Mk3 Jazz 1.3 Manual which is not as good as the Mk 1.  We use the Jazz to go on holiday as it has more space in the boot than the IS. Fuel consumption is about the same for the IS hybrid and the 1.3 Jazz, but that will depend on your commute. If it is short town driving you will get poor MPG (45 mpg), which is worse than the Jazz. Car tax should be £10 on an older IS.

The IS is a much nice place to be and I would rather drive that than the Jazz any day. The eCVT just works and is smooth and effortless. Don't listen to the comments about it being  noisy under harsh acceleration, that is only if you drive like a boy racer. Its great to waft about in.

    Hope that helps

    Paul
