  1. Ok to my ear the system has softened a little today but my god does it sound properly guttural, bassy but somehow refined at speed. Absolutely love it.
  2. First impression - holy cow it's loud second thought -somewhere between AMG/muscle car & nascar third thought - quiet on cruise at motorway speeds fourth thought - softened a little or maybe I got used to it after 50 or so miles Another day tomorrow, more miles and for sure more thoughts think the reason for the above is the complete transformation in the way it sounds, you tube really doesn't convey how deep and plain old school V8 it now sounds, such a difference from stock. However a closing thought as I turn in, looking forward to tomorrow's run in to work already
  3. Hi Stu, no haven't reset ECU waiting for exhaust and will do it then, as for exhaust I have asked for an exact copy of yours (hope you don't mind they do say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery)
  4. Your not going to believe this but after putting the takeda on I got 34.5 as a tank average in the drive to H&S. It may drop after the exhaust is done
  5. Ahem not only did mine shout at me it puts the brakes on and tightens the seatbelts
  6. Hi all, whilst my car is at H&S having is exhaust fitted my attention has turned to more mundane matters, brakes. I have new brembo discs awaiting fitment and the pads need changing too. Have tried yellow stuff and they are not much noticeable from stock, fancy trying some of those hawk pads but not sure which compound and where sells them. Sure someone can help me
  7. Peter You've got me moderately concerned now, "ironed out the design", hopefully you just mean they have done it before!! Chris
  8. Yes he's on facebook where he posts pics and used to work for mclaren. he's a friend of a friend too, guess he may be cheaper as he's just set up on his own
  9. Oops missed the rolling road part. Can you let me know dates and costs please
  10. Thanks, to be honest not entirely sure what I'm getting! I mentioned they had done one before and asked for a cat back, haven't discussed build in detail. Would be interested to hear some more details of what you have and if you had any options or decisions to make.
  11. Love the wheel. WANT! Mine is getting a little shiney, is the wheel a new part from the US (sorry if this has been answered before) or have you had it re-trimmed? All info much appreciated, may be looking to do this as well (perhaps with assistance/guide/info lol)
  12. Have a quote from Paint Doctor (let me know if you want his contact details) all 4 wheels to be refurbed and the bonnet to be repainted £300
  13. Afternoon All Quite pleased with myself that the Takeda intake installation was all done easily inside an hour. Hopefully I have attached a "during" and "done" photo to this. Had very limited running time but it really isn't much different to stock, to my ear at least. I have heard you should disconnect the battery so the ECU can "learn" the new instake, but if this is true I'll wait for the exhaust to be done and do it then, surely this can't make much difference to the tone though? Off to H&S for the exhaust system w/c 12th which I am really looking forward too.
  14. Hi I have the Bridgestone RE-050 tyres fitted allround but find the car struggles with standing water and can aquaplane. I have had these tyres on a previous Golf R32 and not had the issue so not sure if its that the geo on the ISF makes it prone to this or its the tyre? The fronts seem to scrub the inside edge out quickly (i assume a characteristic) and despite several geo checks it continues to do it. Can anyone recommend a decent tracking place please ideally in the Surrey area. Also any tyre suggestions gratefully received. thanks
  15. Not a problem as such as it cleared, but after I changed the front pads under ahem, more vigourous use of the throttle (second phase air intake) i got a lot of white smoke out of the exhaust. Nothing had changed but the pads which weren'd directly the cause of the issue. This went on for 100 or so miles until it cleared (this was 10k ago and no re-occurance). The only thing i can think of is that somehow the dispersed brake fluid (from pushing the pistons back) got into the intake system. The top was off the master cylnder but oddly no level change in the cylinder, hence i came to the above conclusion. Any other ideas?
  16. Thanks all for thoughts. Stu i have followed the link and once carriage is added the total is $500+! Am I missing something? In fairness they did say they would look at the part price to see if there was anything they could do given the shipping is the same as the part! I'll wait to see. Also spoken to H&S and hopefully in early May i will have a new exhaust. Decision made on two basis, first the clip on PH i think of Stu's car (apologies if wrong on this) and second due to a minor issue with a grass bank sometime ago i only have 3 of the 4 fake exhaust trims. Lexus wanted over £400 for this alone, bit of a no brainer to get rear system in stainless for about £800.
  17. Hi, New to the site, but had my ISF 2 years. Having read the thread elsewhere on here I am trying to purchase a Takeda intake, however there are two issues. First there seem to be 3 types (whcih to choose?) and second all the sellers seem to be US based and charge fortunes in shipping. Does anywhere in the UK sell them? Next planned mod is the H&S exhaust after hearing the lovely sound the ISF in the other thread makes Thanks for any help Chris
